Naida Kirkpatrick article[edit]

Hello, thanks for writing this article! I've just read it and I’m a bit concerned that it has no citations apart from Ms. Kirkpatrick's own writing. That worries me since without proof that this person is notable, meaning covered enough in media to get a Wikipedia article on them, I'm concerned that the article may get deleted.

Are there any extra citations you can add like articles on her, interviews and reviews? If so just edit the article and add citations using the cite tool, or if you have any questions just let me know. Blythwood (talk) 05:53, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just read your message on my talk page. Sorry, but it won't suffice. As the post below says, all articles on living people get looked at very carefully - that's a link to a full policy but they have to have independent sources, to prove that the subject is notable enough for a Wikipedia article and to make sure they can't become either puff pieces or attack pages. (Yes, I know that's weird, but the fact that you know someone and know what the facts are doesn't mean that you can automatically post them on Wikipedia, although you can remove unsourced and false material - self-published material is best left for a blog since we can't verify it or that it matters.)
Creating articles on Wikipedia isn't easy, and I realise it may be frustrating to read this. In future, if you're not sure if an article is right for Wikipedia I recommend drafting an article on a sandbox or going through the articles for creation and teahouse processes, since they can give you feedback. Hi. I've proposed that the article be deleted because I couldn't find any reliable sources that would satisfy WP:AUTHOR. If you can add citations that assert the notability of the writer, that would be great. Please help me with...

I created my first Wikipedia article: Naida_Kirkpatrick a children's book author. I am unclear on what citations or links I can add to add to the article's credibility. I listed the book titles with the ISBN numbers and created links to the publishers' websites where the books are listed. How can I find out what specific citations or links would satisfy the requirements for verifying this author? Would linking the ISBN number to the World Cat library catalog satisfy the verification needed?

Thank you. I'm new to this and trying to follow the proper steps but am somewhat confused with this process.

Hi. Thanks for your note. Wikipedia's notability guidelines require that the subject have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are totally independent of the subject itself. Listing the author's own books wont help, because that is not "independent" coverage. "Independent" coverage means that sources like newspapers, magazines, etc have decided on their own to write about Kirkpatrick.
