Jonestown Photos in public domain

As the manager of the website -- and the photographer of the shots at http://jonestown.sdsu.edu/?gallery=moore-family-photos-1979 -- I do want to reassure you that we intend all of the photos on our website to be in the public domain, except for those with a specific copyright notice (mainly from the Calif. Historical Society). (I am speaking of the uncertainly you raised at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_talk:Jonestown_Houses.jpg Remoore24 (talk) 00:36, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the update! From looking at the photo's talk page, it looks like the licensing issues have been straightened out, so I think there's nothing else that needs to be done here. —Tim Pierce (talk) 18:43, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Thanks

Disambiguation link notification for April 13

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited S. F. Cushman Woolen Mill, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Cashmere and Kersey. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Tim/Pulaski Tech

Tim, I received your message. I reported malicious edits, asked for semi-protection due to high level of IP vandalism and just now the college is being slandered and incorrect facts are being posted. Why cant this page be locked for a while? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pulaskitech (talkcontribs) 12:55, April 15, 2015‎

Hi -- thanks for the comment back. I'll follow up on your talk page. —Tim Pierce (talk) 22:58, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

Why did you decline the speedy deletion on Onlinelivenews24? Exactly the same article has already been created many times before, and deleted as A7. I've put it up for AfD, but I believe it should have been speedy deleted. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:45, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

I declined it because speedy deletion is intended for articles that don't even make a plausible claim of notability (e.g. "Bob is my friend who's a real hoopy frood"). The article does assert that the site is one of the most popular in Bangladesh, so I don't think speedy is appropriate in this case. The article obviously will need more citations to pass -- and frankly I doubt that it will -- but I don't think speedy is the right process in this case. —Tim Pierce (talk) 14:07, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Sonja Sohn wiki page

Hi Tim, We represent Sonja Sohn and are hoping to remove the images from her wiki page. Can you help with that? Best Roger — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suskinmanagement (talkcontribs) 17:07, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi Suskinmanagement -- if you want to replace the image with a different one that would be fine. If there is an alternate image you're willing to release under a Creative Commons copyright license, you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard and use that on the article instead. In general, if the article has no image and there are photos of Sonja Sohn available on Wikimedia Commons, someone will probably add one back. —Tim Pierce (talk) 18:23, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

ArchieLuxury is worthy of mention on wiki....

Please keep ArchieLuxury on Wiki. He is an international YouTube sensation!

  • Hiromi kirishima, It has since been deleted as spam and a copyright infringement. I'm sorry, but I also cannot see where this YT personality would pass Wikipedia's very strict guidelines for notability. Other than a handful of articles in various WP:SPS-esque sources, there really is no coverage of this person. I also noted on the article's talk page that you claimed he is popular on YT, but popularity does not equate to notability. It can make it more likely but it is not a guarantee. 7 Cups of Tea

I have been reverting clearly improper personal comments and have explained this to the new user on their talk page without escalating the warnings. Vandalism patrolling, which I have done for quite awhile, is an exception to 3RR. I don't claim to be always right and certainly make a mistake from time to time but I don't think someone can leave personal comments about "what an organization is really like" and not have them reverted. If you evaluate the content differently from me, please let me know. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 20:00, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

You're quite right that this work falls under 3RR exemptions (not just vandalism, but also unsourced libelous information about living persons). Sorry to have interrupted you! —Tim Pierce (talk) 20:14, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
No problem. As I said, I am not perfect and have made mistakes in vandalism patrolling from time to time (not too often, I think). I don't mind an occasional check and look back. I have restored some edits promptly when I realized, or in a few cases had it pointed out to me, that they were in good faith and at least arguably correct. It is good to be kept alert when doing this. If a mistake is made, then it can be quickly corrected. I think that is key. Avoid errors but in the event one is made, correct it quickly with an explanation and even apology if appropriate. I try to do that but a little reminder can be helpful. Hi Tim, I appreciate you answering a few questions for me yesterday in the live chat and thank you for your willingness to help. I am editing an article on Morgan Ganem. You recommended that I find stronger citations and focus on the more important things.

Article link: [[1]]

I found a new citation for the KC Chiefs chant that he wrote via an article written about it in the Tulsa World, though I couldn't figure out how to properly cite the link. (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/nfl/stadium-rocker/article_5d644534-ee67-5ce7-9204-29a46dfa11ec.html?mode=image)

Also, I've omitted the Dr. Plasticine section because there isn't as much in depth important info on that subject.

As all Wikipedia writers, I would like to get this article edited so that it will be approved. Please feel free to make edits if you would like. I appreciate any suggestions or help you an give me.

The news reported Andrew Tider and Jeff Greenspan as artists of the sculpture. If you can obtain their OTRS ticket, I can request undeletion of Commons copy. What do you think? --George Ho (talk) 19:46, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Joe Val

Hi there - sorry to bother you, but I was hoping that you could help with a picture of the gravestone of bluegrass singer Joe Val, at Mount Feake Cemetery. The article tells me it has the engraving of a mandolin? I've no connection with the subject - it's a random copy-edit I picked out - but in an effort to improve wikipedia & as there are no images at all on it, I thought it might be nice. Your name (twp) popped up when I did a search of photographers near the area (here if you're interested). Thanks for your help & kind regards, NiGoosefort (talk) 10:24, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

  • @NiGoosefort:: I'd be quite happy to, thanks for checking in. That's not far at all from where I work, so I'll see if I can make some time tomorrow afternoon to go take care of it. —Tim Pierce (talk) 18:19, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank you :) NiGoosefort (talk) 09:25, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
@NiGoosefort:: I've uploaded an image of Joe Val's headstone at File:Joe Val headstone.jpg. Please feel free to use it on the Joe Val page anywhere that seems appropriate to you :-) —Tim Pierce (talk) 20:01, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Done! Thanks very much! Kind regards, NiGoosefort (talk) 10:36, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
