Disambiguation style[edit]

I reverted your edit on the Sierra dab page. In general, our style is to use piped links the way you did, so that an article title like Sierra Nevada (Spain) doesn't appear in text. Dab pages, though, are an exception. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Piping. The theory is that a reader who sees the full article title will be aided in selecting the right article, which is the purpose of the dab page. JamesMLane t c 10:15, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I must admit that I would have thought that the additional text provided on the disambiguation page would provide the information to allow the reader to select the correct page. However, since I'm new to Wikipedia and am more than happy to learn the rules I'll remember this for the future. Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow. I think there was a big discussion about this, in which several people took your viewpoint, but the other style was selected. I'm not sure of that because, I confess, I didn't pay much attention to it. There's some value in consistency, though. That's why I change deviations from policy when I notice them. A more common example is the rule that article titles, headings, and subheadings are to be written in sentence case. Many newbies miss that one. JamesMLane t c 10:36, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Me either, but it must have to Bainbridge, I guess... The funny thing is that I didn't even actually MEAN to write those. I don't even remember why I wrote the first one, Redridge Steel Dam, but it just sort of snowballed from there. That dam type is very rare, so now I want to write about the last US one and be all done. Problem is there isn't much info out there... Not conclusively. The one book I found and linked to (which I don't have, and have no idea how to acquire, but which I used Google Books to glean info from, good enough since it only had a page or two on the topic and GB lets you see 2 pages in each direction from where the word hits are) was from India. It seemed to *imply* there were some in other countries but never *named* either the countries or the locations. So I don't actually know. I've tried searching a few times but my results were inconclusive... the search term, even with quotes, gives a lot of false positives. The cross section drawings I did (in Visio if you can believe it!) were styled after the ones in that book... ++Lar: t/c 00:32, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:PlutonianSystem Footer[edit]

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Template:PlutonianSystem Footer, which you proposed for deletion, because the page you proposed for deletion was not an article. If you still feel the page should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to it, as proposed deletion is only for articles. Instead, consider using Wikipedia:Templates for deletion for this page. In some cases, a speedy deletion criterion may apply. Thanks!
