A4 Sydney Harbour Bridge

Hi, are you sure the Sydney Harbour Bridge is part of the A4? Can you please provide proof? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thek22900 (talkcontribs) 12:10, 8 September 2020 (UTC)

B91 Big River Way

Hello, I understand the M1 bypass was opened which bypassed Grafton and that the google street view is too old to rely on in that area. Are you sure that the B91 now extends to Glenugie? Thanks! Thek22900 (talk) 06:39, 11 September 2020 (UTC)

Images that don't exist?

Hi, I noticed in your edit on the List of Road Routes in NSW page you added some images that don't exist? Do you know how to fix this? Thanks! Thek22900 (talk) 06:25, 13 September 2020 (UTC)

Dear Thek22900

I added SR266 into the unofficial routes category which(Wikipedia) says the image doesn't exist, strange but its what it says. Thanks (talk)

A43 & M4

I have done some investigating about the A43 road sign and found that the A43 used to run from the start of the M15 before the Hunter Expressway existed, but was changed after like the B82. The 2019 sign shows that the A43 continues on Wine Country Drive but roundabout signs don't. The roundabout signs are from 2015, however it is unknown if it is still like this. This means that the A43 likely runs for a short distance on Wine Country Drive, although it is not certain.

The Western Motorway and M4 East have been put together as the Western Motorway continues straight on to the M4 East like a straight road, while the Parramatta Road signage is an exit. The Westbound signage is like any other Motorway Entrance, with the Alpha-numeric sign on it before the ramp to actually join the Motorway. Because of this, I have put the part east of the tunnel to Parramatta Road in the unofficial routes part.

B79/A79

Hello Thent1234, Please note that the B79 Silver City Highway doesn't cross into Victoria in Buronga, instead it ends at the A20/B79 intersection 1km north of the border. Thanks. Thek22900 (talk) 08:08, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

NorthConnex

Hello, I recently noticed you said that NorthConnex wouldn't have a route number in the A11 part on the List of Road Routes in NSW page. Do you think that Pennant Hills Road will keep the A28 marker after NorthConnex opens? I recently saw this: https://www.northconnex.com.au/content/dam/northconnex/media/maps/NCX_Map_web.pdf . This numbers all other routes except for the A28, do you think this means that the A28 will no longer run on Pennant Hills Road? Thanks! Thek22900 (talk) 11:10, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Interesting Map. However, I went past the M1 Pacific Mwy on Saturday and it didn't seem to have a route number. It just says "Sydney VIA NORTHCONNEX" (Sorry I don't have a photo) This uncovered sign also says there is no route number for Northconnex. https://www.google.com/search?q=northconnex+signs&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjCx_2D3_nrAhXNUH0KHd6WCnIQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=northconnex+signs&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQAzoCCAA6BggAEAgQHjoECAAQGFClJFiUL2D4M2gAcAB4AIABgQOIAYUJkgEFMi0yLjKYAQCgAQGqAQtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZ8ABAQ&sclient=img&ei=gVhoX4KDJM2h9QPeraqQBw&bih=821&biw=1440#imgrc=wXAZQi4rbtyZxM

And for A28, it will still keep the A28 marker on PHR. ÷ https://www.google.com/maps/uv?pb=!1s0x6b12a147ce198139%3A0x1f7830245776d235!3m1!7e115!4shttps%3A%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipPmWJRX4Yl4EceK2UJk_pN1Veez7k-b6lX0Lfin%3Dw426-h320-k-no!5snorthconnex%20-%20Google%20Search!15zQ2dJZ0FRPT0&imagekey=!1e10!2sAF1QipNb82XCq2I-RQSuBKMqfZ1E6h1N88L8KiY8zCS_&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj-ve_Y3_nrAhUDzjgGHbFBAcsQoiowG3oECCAQBg#

A44 & A4

The signage near the M4 East Tunnel is A44 instead of the A4 as after the M4 - M8 Link Tunnel comes out it will be numbered A44 so they won't have to change the signs, just like they are doing now with the M8. This is if you were curious. Thek22900 (talk) 08:41, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks Thek22900

Also, do you have any more updates on Northconnex. It seems that the opening has been delayed even further.

Thanks Thent1234 (talk) 17:50, 27 September 2020 (AEST)

A4, again but this time with CCT

Dear Thent1234

I went up the Eastern Distributor recently northbound and it says Cross City Tunnel as Part of the A4 as - "A4 Cross City Tunnel" (Google Streetview is too old and says Metroad 4) I also checked the linkt website and it says A4. However Linkt makes a lot of mistakes like M31 Hume Motorway as A21 Hume Highway

https://www.linkt.com.au/sydney/using-toll-roads/toll-calculator?_ga=2.94624476.1159210505.1601797349-1969227473.1600158130 (click Westlink M7) and there's a Metroad 6 here; https://www.westlinkm7.com.au/content/dam/westlinkm7/pdf/tollprices/q2-2020-21-oct-dec/WLM7_toll_pricing_1_oct_31_december_2020.pdf

Do you think CCT is part of the A4 route or not.

Thanks, enjoy your long weekend. Thek22900

Suggestion for consideration

My suggestion is splitting every road route into 2 parts, the 2 directions it comes and goes in. A79

The A79 ends at the NSW/VIC border, you can go into google street view and check the signs, like [1] this one, which shows the Calder Highway extends into NSW but the A79 doesn't Thek22900 (talk) 05:19, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Tourist Drives

Hi, there's a small issue. For some numbers such as 3 and 4, there are multiple tourist drives with that number. Information on some of them is hard to find and can only be found by browsing maps or going there. I suggest to separate the alpha-numeric routes from the tourist routes to avoid confusion, as they serve totally different purposes. What do you think? Thek22900 (talk) 03:34, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Sure except aren't they already in different sections?

Thent1234 (talk) 04:53, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes, do you know how can all the tourist routes in different regions be found? Thek22900 (talk) 05:47, 11 October 2020 (UTC)

I've only added the ones that are on the council's page, on Apple Maps, Google Maps and Expressway online, there are some others too. Plus the one's I've physically been to.

Dear Thek22900,

For TD15 in Hornsby, does it have its own website. I found this but I highly doubt its reliable. https://www.cartoscope.com.au/maps/hawkesb/touristdrive.pdf

plus could you give me some info on Metroad 4, I was a QLD resident in those times of Metroads.

Your edits to list road routes page around Australia

I understand what you are doing. However, in my opinion it adds now value and just clutters up the pages. Can you please explain why you think it is better than what was there before as in reality it adds nothing to the page but unnecessary clutter. --Life200BC (talk) 23:23, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

So I (and Thek22900) initially started doing it for the NSW page after he/she stated this

Suggestion for consideration

My suggestion is splitting every road route into 2 parts, the 2 directions it comes and goes in. Reasons: - Some have different distances depending on which direction it is. - Some use different roads in different directions. - Helps maintain consistency while providing information.

However, I now think that its more beneficial to the NSW page as routes like A2 goes from Seven Hills to Windsor one way while it goes from Windsor to Baulkham Hills the other way. However, I thought it might also be beneficial for the QLD page too to avoid confusion with the duplicate numbers.

What are your thoughts?

Thent1234 (talk) 23:30, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

I thought that maybe the reason. I'm torn on this because it's helpful for a small minority of roads but then also clutters up the rest. Maybe only do it for routes where their is such a difference. But then again it doesn't really matter, I was just curious. Thanks for your time

--Life200BC (talk) 00:46, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Actually thinking about it more couldn't you just say eastbound the highway terminates at so and so?

--Life200BC (talk) 01:08, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

We did that for the NSW page and then it got too messy, so we decided to do this.

Thent1234 (talk) 02:48, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Ahh, that sucks. Yeah I don't know what is the best way to go about it. Probably continue doing what you're doing until something better comes around, which still communicates the same amount of information as what you're doing.

--Life200BC (talk) 04:54, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

If you want some really great ideas, maybe ask Thek22900, he/she'll try and help solve this issue.

The route numbering bizarreness. More examples.

It is way more strange and weird in New South Wales. There's A38 which I do not understand why its so nationally significant. Then there's A48 Illawarra Highway where trucks can't even go on some areas. Why did it get an A route? On the flip side, NorthConnex, which opened on Saturday doesn't have a route number. It's 9 km long and it's longer than the WestConnex M8. Then there's also Cross City Tunnel, that didn't get a route number but it's only 2km so I kinda get why it didn't get one. Putty Road, which is a bypass of the Pacific Motorway (Sydney - Newcastle) which is about 200km long doesn't get a route marker. At least for the least bit give it a tourist drive marker. Now compare the following roads with this road:

NorthConnex

Putty Road

Cross City Tunnel

Go Between Bridge

and compare this with - very short road in Phillip Island that doesn't deserve a route marker in the first place.

To be honest, the Northern Territory has the best numbering system other than their "progressive replacement" i.e. Tanami Road is partially unpaved so it gets the route marker. Thent1234 (talk) 06:50, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, I sometime question who actually makes road routes. They are the weirdest things. Not only what you mention but in Brisbane The Ipswich Motorway is M7 until it randomly becomes M2, why not just make Ipswich Motorway M2 and then Logan Motorway M7. I think they really need to just get a list of major roads and then just redo all the road numbers. Life200BC (talk) 08:06, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

By the way I've change the New England highway to as on google maps i found this which would indicate a change, would this be enough to change it on the list of queensland road routes? https://www.google.com/maps/@-28.1221406,152.0671354,3a,15y,125.3h,85.47t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s5eIgfZv2BDaV-zjv1rhZTQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Also the M2 bit of Gateway Mwy should be M6. Then M6 Logan can be M2 and M2 will be continuous. An NSW example is A43 and B82. Route 43 almost loops around Newcastle except of a tiny bit where it's marked as . Can't they mark it as B43? I know it breaks the rules but it's consistency. Again in Euston, NSW where Murray Valley Highway ends there's this really bizarre situation. ends at the border and RMS has decided to not continue 3kms of Vic route into NSW at the NSW numbered network.

Thent1234 (talk) 08:40, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

I Know for Brisbane it would ideally be:

  • For the entirety of the Pacific Motorway, Inner City Bypass, Gympie and Lutwyche roads To connect to the Bruce Highway (Road signed
  • for Road currently signed and then for Ipswich Motorway and Onto the Warrego Highway
  • For the Gateway Motorway
  • for port of Brisbane Motorway
  • for roads currently signed as such
  • For the Logan Motorway
  • For Cunningham Highway
  • For the Mount Lindsay Highway

For Brisbane Valley Highway

  • --> (A60)
  • --> (M13/A91)
  • --> (A15)
  • --> (A39 - Goondiwindi)
  • --> (M8)

For I don't understand why DTMR don't go on a field trip and replace like 20 signs. It can't be that hard So it is
Same goes for , they've already started to do some as mentioned above. Life200BC (talk) 09:02, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Added A15. Also how did QDMTR end up with duplicate routes in the first place? And for NH39, its coverplated, so all they have to do is remove the coverplate.

Thent1234 (talk) 09:05, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm sure it is a stupid reason. Probably similar to Bus Route Numbers in Brisbane 1,2,3,4 correspond South East North and West. 111, 222, 333, 444 were to be key routes. Multiples of ten were to be trunk routes. And others were meant to be feeders and they got one guy to do 1,2,3 bus routes and then got a random other guy to the 4's who did his own thing, so the western suburbs buses are all weird. DTMR probably did something similar. Life200BC (talk) 09:10, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Life200BC,

The only problem with A13 is that it doesn't match with our B91. If you guys change to A13, then RMS would have to change to {{AUshied|NSW|B13}} (B13) which is why it probably hasn't happened yet. It also breaks RMS rules though they do have B23. (they can always say, well it's all Victoria's fault) Also I'd like Sunshine Motorway to change to M8 followed by A8. Same with Smith Street Motorway (How can something be a Street and a Motorway?) for it to become M10 followed by A10. Also if M6 was only added this year, they would have learn't their mistakes wouldn't they?

Also if you want to talk about highways and roads, join this group below

https://groups.google.com/g/aussie-highways

It's where the real road fans are and where you can ask anyone a question. (If you want to know which is my name on the group, its kakaduhwy21) Its where the creators of Ozroads, expressway etc. come and meet together. I have got thegwh32 to join, so it'll be awesome if you join too. If you want to be anonymous, just change your display name. (like what I did)

Reasons: - Some have different distances depending on which direction it is. - Some use different roads in different directions. - Helps maintain consistency while providing information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thek22900 (talkcontribs) 08:24, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi, there is no route A16, A50 and A790. Thek22900 (talk) 01:49, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

A79

The A79 ends at the NSW/VIC border, you can go into google street view and check the signs, like [2] this one, which shows the Calder Highway extends into NSW but the A79 doesn't Thek22900 (talk) 05:19, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Cheers,

NorthConnex

Hi Thent, I have done some research online and seen some photos from this group: https://groups.google.com/u/1/g/aussie-highways/c/MV9uiqErZLg/m/VEToHmARBQAJ and it does seem like NCX will have no route number. Also, I think putting the B400 in unofficial roads would be a good idea. Thek22900 (talk) 10:43, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I've seen them (plus I post there almost every 24 hrs)

Making road signs

Hi Thent, just to let you know, this is how the road signs are made: https://imgur.com/a/v3OVg Thek22900 (talk) 11:04, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

It doesn't say where to download the fonts or how to do it on a Mac.

Tourist Drives Copy

Hello Life200BC.

Finished making the table. Just have to fill them in. There's some a lot that are missing there.

Also what does that "purple moths" mean on your user page?

Thent1234 (talk) 07:16, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, It looks good. The commitment to making wikipedia a better place is astounding
Purple moths is just because moths are cool but understood creatures and I like the colour purple.

For regional Queensland, it'll ideally be that

  • --> (A40)
  • --> (A50)
  • --> (A60)
  • --> (M13/A91)
  • --> (A15)
  • --> (A39 - Goondiwindi)
  • --> (M8)

Thent1234 (talk) 08:59, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

Your M50 looks unaligned and ugly. There's also a white border. Need to upload a new one. Same with A30

@Bidgee: Hello Bidgee

That was clearly NOT misuse of a template.

You decided to be lazy and not read what I did and just revert the entire thing. Instead, manually revert the edit on what needs to be removed. Now I did add some detail not about WP:NOR which you decided not to read. I removed all the State Routes that have been confirmed to have an alphanumeric route and this is what you did.

Now for the List of road routes in the Northern Territory DIPL hasn't released a map with an alphas or National Highways/Routes or State Routes. The only way to know is through OzRoads, which the creator doesn't update anymore. Expressway is there but they only show the routes that have photos. So Google Maps is the only way to know.

Thent1234 (talk) 09:52, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

Sorry but you did misuse the level three vandalism template!. For someone who is a new account, knows quite a little bit on how Wikipedia works, but certainly not competent. Also, stop pinging me. Bidgee (talk) 10:06, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

How else am I meant to notify you? Oh and yes, being lazy and revering 5000 bytes. I don't think it's misusing the template. I think level 1 and 2 aren't harsh enough for laziness.
