Re: Transfermarkt[edit]

Much of Transfermarkt's stats database can be edited by its users. According to its login page: Whether player info, coach info, club info, or match report – as a Transfermarkt user, you can edit and add to almost all data by yourself. This makes it a self-published and therefore unreliable source. There have been a few incidents over the years, where inaccurate information showing up on Transfermarkt that likely originated on Wikipedia, leading to serious circular reporting concerns. As for alternative sources, Soccerway is generally pretty good, if somewhat slow to update. Fussballdaten is good for German-speaking countries like Switzerland. Your best bet for sourcing articles on footballers is usually just to look at what sources are cited in other articles about players on the same club or in the same league.
