Palacky University[edit]

Hi, I saw that you moved the article Palacký University to the longer official name. I requested the move last year as I believe the shorter name corresponds better to Wikipedia's naming conventions. My reasons are explained here. Could you clarify how you think my reasoning is wrong? Thanks :) Jdcooper (talk) 19:02, 11 March 2019 (UTC).[reply]

Hi, that's a fair point, and I won't object if you want to undo the move. Sorry for not checking the history first. I prefer the full name in this case because it's not too unwieldy (e.g., no more so than "Massachusetts Institute of Technology"), and it's the name used by almost all the authorities listed on the wikidata page, especially crossref, GRID and Ringgold. I've been using wikidata to clean a list of institution names, and it makes life a lot easier when the sources are all in unison. Cheers, Tamunro (talk) 20:41, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not too bothered either way so I won't try and undo it, especially if there's a technical reason this one is better! Jdcooper (talk) 21:42, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jdcooper: @Tamunro: I would like to copy this discussion to the university talk page, any objections? Then all the discussions about changes of name are in the same place. As the name seems to be stable I will request that category names are updated as well. TSventon (talk) 17:26, 24 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@TSventon: No objection from me! --Tamunro (talk) 23:53, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jdcooper: @Tamunro: now copied. TSventon (talk) 12:57, 10 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
