Updating standings[edit]

Per you interests in 2018 NAPB season, please read Games behind and why you are doing it incorrectly. It is strictly a calculation, so making a team that has not played not have a GB number is incorrect as they are, in fact, behind. Also I highly recommend listing the teams initially by GB and then Wins as this is how most leagues rank their standings (unless they end up playing an uneven number of games, and then it would likely be by winning percentage and a tie breaker). Yosemiter (talk) 18:51, 6 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please read Games behind. (Or just wait until this page actually updates, but I wouldn't hold my breathe on that.) Also it is far more common to only update the wikipedia standings pages once per day after all games are complete to avoid partial updates. It makes it so the top "as of January 6" correct instead of "as of one game into the games taking place on January 6". I only update most very minor league pages once per week as the pages rarely get views and we are not sports journal or sports records site. Just a site of verifiable facts (the results may be unverifiable in low level leagues for days) and this league definitely does not keep up to the minute records to verify. Yosemiter (talk) 15:12, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I am going to start posting here every time until you start updating fully. Look at this edit and why your edit is incomplete. Please listen and start behaving within normal procedure. Yosemiter (talk) 04:14, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you not update fully? I mean really, why only update one team, they didn't play against themselves. Yosemiter (talk) 15:42, 16 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are still making several mistakes in your updates. I highly implore you to either read up on Games behind or just wait until the next morning to update when their standings do (the 25 viewers per day on that page would not be put off by waiting). We all make mistakes sometimes, but your updates have been consistently wrong. Yosemiter (talk) 17:51, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Again, why only update for one team? It takes two teams to play a league game. Please stop with partial updates, WP:COMPETENCY is at least somewhat required and I feel I have shown you as as much as helpful edits as I can. Yosemiter (talk) 13:46, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop updating standing using the wrong date. This series of edits clearly had no games that meet "As of games played on February 11, 2018" when you updated in the early morning hours of Feb 11. (1am Eastern?) And again, it was a very incomplete update] missing a game since it was last updated (by me, correctly, on Feb 8 up to Feb 7 games). Please, do better. Yosemiter (talk) 22:34, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This shouldn't be as difficult as you make it seem. Yosemiter (talk) 19:10, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are still making too many mistakes. What is so difficult to understand about As of games played ON March X, 2018 to make you write March 2 there when you edited at 9:38PM Pacific March 1 after the game in the Pacific time zone ended? It does not say, on that page or any other standings page As of games played before XXXX XX, 2018. Yosemiter (talk) 13:36, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fantastic job with this edit, keep it up. Yosemiter (talk) 05:03, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Brandon Lesovsky for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Brandon Lesovsky is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brandon Lesovsky until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Yosemiter (talk) 16:56, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

January 2018[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Minor League Basketball Association. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 05:28, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Spirits of St. Louis, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 19:42, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tampa Bay Titans has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not verifiable; no references to this announcement and none found on either Google News or the league site.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. power~enwiki (π, ν) 07:27, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Overwriting images[edit]

Per you new upload at File:Ohio Cardinals logo.png, you should probably save the Bootleggers logo under a different name. Overwriting images with new version is primarily for image or resolution fixes. Completely new logos, especially with new names, should be a new name (it doesn't make any sense to have a "Bootleggers" logo in a file titled "Ohio Cardinals"). Thank you, Yosemiter (talk) 12:34, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please do it for me!Syracusestorm (talk) 21:15, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Go to Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard. Upload the image under a new File name (such as Ohio Bootleggers logo.png). Fill in all parameters such as the source of where it was acquired. Make sure to mark it as non-free use with the Purpose as "to serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the entity in question." or something similar. Once uploaded, it can then be used on the page. Hope this helps, but I am not an expert in this area, I just know that it is not supposed to be overwritten (it changed the minimal use of the Cardinals logo used lower on the page to the Bootleggers one). Perhaps @Sparkyb10123:, the original uploader of the Cardinals image can be of more help. Yosemiter (talk) 21:35, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Stats pages[edit]

Per WP:NOTSTATS and WP:LISTN, we should not make lists of stats (like you did with List of North American Premier Basketball yearly standings) unless the standings or stats themselves have been discussed in length enough to meet WP:GNG, which this definitely has not. Also, this is doubly dubious as there is only one season, making the list page a near duplicate of a portion of the 2018 NAPB season page. (I could also argue the season itself has not really been discussed in independent media, mush less any possible future seasons.) Please refrain from creating articles anywhere other than the WP:DRAFTSPACE until the subjects meet WP:GNG. Thank you, Yosemiter (talk) 22:00, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Premature edits[edit]

Do not make edits to any leagues for future seasons until that season is started, such as this. The 2018–19 season officially starts July 1, but it is doubly inappropriate since the 2017–18 season is still on-going. Yosemiter (talk) 01:07, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

June 2018[edit]

Information icon Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Elite Indoor Football. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. Yosemiter (talk) 01:16, 5 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Syracusestorm. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Nick Meyer (baseball), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Dallas SLPB moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Dallas SLPB, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the confirms on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. Team categories[edit]

These are not added to player articles until after they appear in a game for the team. You recently created the category “Capital City Go-Go” and added it to Devin Robinson - no one can be added to that category until the team actually plays games this Fall. Notice

The article List of current The Basketball League team rosters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:LISTN via WP:GNG. These teams barely receive GNG-level coverage and their players even less so. When the rosters are unverifiable as even the team and league do not keep their own rosters up to date, a list of unverifiable info should not be a stand-alone list.

Notice

The article San Diego Waves has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Low-level basketball team that never received any sort of independent in-depth coverage suitable for WP:GNG. Just a couple of mentions as members of the league and some WP:ROUTINE game coverage, all by other teams' local papers. The most their home market covered them is this ad for a charity event, in which the depth of coverage goes as far that they are a pro basketball team, not even what they league the play in or where they play home games.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

A tag has been placed on Category:Southwest League of Professional Baseball teams requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
