Because of channels in the outer membrane of the mitochondria, the content of the intermembrane space happens to be similar to that of the content of the cytoplasm. ATP consists of adenosine — composed of an adenine ring and a ribose sugar — and three phosphate groups (triphosphate). -> can you be more specific on how similar the content of the intermembrane space is to the cytoplasm? -> why do you mention ATP here? When there is no mentioning of ATP beforehand in the previous sentence.

The intermembrane space of the chloroplast is exceedingly small, from 10-20 nm thick. Unlike the intermembrane space of the mitochondria, the intermembrane space of the chloroplast does not seem to have any obvious function. -> there is no citation here. Can you put in the citation? And is it possible to expand more on this topic since there’s only one sentence here.


I agree with the previous advice, and would like to see a lengthened section on the chloroplast if at all possible - I know that there isnt much research on it.

As well you mention that the perinuclear space is also an intermembrane space, so it would be nice if there was at least a small section on it.

Some more references and see also articles could be nice as well.

In the section of the mitochondria, you could expand on the proteins that are located in the intermembrane space, as well as a bit on the topology of the space and the contents of the membranes that are adjacent to it. You also would likely want to expand on its role in mitochondrial division? or possible ATP synthesis.
