Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Images of Matthew Olshefski[edit]

Hi, Srunger72! I've noticed you've been trying to upload an image of Matthew Olshefski. I've had to tag the pages for deletion, because they're not allowed under Wikipedia's very strict fair use policy. As I tried to point to in my edit summaries, we do not allow non-free images of people still living—this policy lists "Pictures of people still alive" under its "Unacceptable use" section. The reason for this is that we cannot accept images where a free equivalent could be created (criterion #1). Our policies are very strict for two reasons: we want to make it absolutely sure that we're observing United States law (where our servers reside), and we're trying to create a free encyclopedia that others can modify, republish and use as they wish.

I am a bit confused. I see that various living musicians have pictures of themselves on their pages. I was trying to post a picture of Matthew Olshefski provided by Matthew Olshefski. The bot kept saying the picture was too big so I downsized its resolution. I am confused as how to correctly categorize this picture. It's just the pictures that are nominated for deletion, not the page itself. On other pages, if a musician has an image of themselves then it is (almost always) because that image is free—that is, it is in the public domain, or was released under a Creative Commons license or similar. These images are uploaded to Wikimedia Commons rather than Wikipedia itself.
You tagged your image under a non-free license, but I now see that you didn't specify a source. If the image was something like a promotional still or a screenshot from a YouTube video, it's already been released under a non-free license and so we cannot use it. But if the image was taken by you, or was released under a free license, then you could add it to Wikimedia Commons and then use it in the article.
