Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! --MarSch 1 July 2005 11:55 (UTC)

edit summaries[edit]

Please use them as much as possible. --MarSch 1 July 2005 11:56 (UTC)

Edit summary[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

Thanks for your message. But I don't know much about that, sorry. You can post your question on the talk page of that article. Reading fuzzy logic and fuzzy set might help too. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov 3 July 2005 04:28 (UTC)
By the way, you can use four tildas, as described above in the welcome message, to sign your posts. Oleg Alexandrov 3 July 2005 04:28 (UTC)

Michael Salla[edit]

Hey there. I noticed a couple of weeks ago you started a page on Michael Salla. This page had actually been created, nominated for Articles for deletion by myself and been deleted [[1]], and subsequently been speedied deleted two or three times as an identical start-up. I'm assuming your re-adding it was coincidental and it doesn't resemble it's previous form. I'm still tempted to say the guy is a lunatic who doesn't deserve a page, but the very fact that he lost a University post (was it tenured?) may make him notable (i.e., he's a lunatic who's kicked up a minor fuss). Can you source the fact that he lost his post possibly? If so, I will then send it back to AfD as a no vote, basically asking people what they think about this new version of the page. Cheers, Marskell 15:15, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

News[edit]

I added the news to Wikinews myself and then added it to the Portal. I had marked it as publish in Wikinews, and aparently someone changed that to developing. In any case, correct me if I am wrong, but I am not aware of any Wikipedia policy disallowing the use of developing news in portals. AreJay 03:12, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do we have so few engineers as Wikipedians?[edit]

I am trying to understand why there are so few Wikipedians who are graduate engineers. Once I get a grasp on that, perhaps I may be able to formulate some ideas on how to attract more experienced engineers to become Wikipedians. It would be very helpful if you would respond to these a few questions:

  • Are you a university graduate engineer?
  • Please indicate in which of these engineering disciplines you obtained your degree:
    1. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering
    2. Bioengineer or biological engineering
    3. Chemical engineering
    4. Civil engineering
    5. Electrical engineering
    6. Environmental engineering
    7. Mechanical engineering
    8. Petroleum engineering
    9. Other
  • In what year did you obtain your degree?
  • What attracted you to participate in Wikipedia?

Please respond on my User talk:mbeychok page. Or you may respond to me via Wikipedia's email which I have enabled on my User:mbeychok page.

If you would rather not respond at all, that's fine also. Regards, - mbeychok 04:28, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Electronics collaboration[edit]

Hi, I am writing to you because you have listed yourself as a member of the Electronics WikiProject. Sadly, this project is pretty dead, but I propose to resuscitate it with a collaboration. The idea is to have a concerted effort on improving one article per month, hopefully to GA or FA status and nominate the very best of them for the front page. I have prepared a page to control this process at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Collaboration (actually, I mostly shamelessly stole it from Wikipedia:WikiProject Mammals where a collaboration of this sort was succesfully run). There you can make nominations for articles for collaboration or comment on the nominations of others.

If you want to take part you might like to place this template {{WikiProject Electronics Collaboration}} on your userpage which will give you a link to the current collaboration. If you are no longer interested in Wikiproject Electronics, please remove yourself from the members list, which is now at Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronics/Members

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Srinivasasha! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Speedy deletion declined: Program (mathematical object)[edit]

Hello Srinivasasha. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Program (mathematical object), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The reason given is not a valid speedy deletion criterion. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 03:33, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
