Hi, several people from the baseball wikiproject are getting together after Wizardman's sudden retirement to figure out a better way to organize the Wikiproject. Minor leaguers

A large percentage, if not the majority, of major leaguers were minor league 'scrubs'. Not all were top prospect, Baseball America rated players. In addition, I'm not doing entries on Single-A players who hit .198, I'm doing entries on Triple-A players with a legitimate shot at major league promotion. As I posted on Yankees10's page, players who spend many years at Triple-A more times than not earn an eventual promotion, if only a token late season one. In actuality, the odds are that a player who reaches Triple-A at any point in his career will reach the major leagues eventually, so it really doesn't hurt to have entries for these players. Kate Spencer on Arrow

I reread the source, I do see that it mentioned the first season episode. However, please read WP:RS/IMDB. It is not to be used as a reliable source in citing. It might be helpful to see if someone appeared in a season/episode to then go out and find a reliable source, but can't be used as a mean for inclusion. I know you did not cite IMDb, but your edit summaries are what made me want to pass this along to you. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:01, 28 March 2014 (UTC)

I did not cite IMDB but i have found it, especially IMDB PRO which i use all the time, as very accurate as they do have verification procedures.. Characters of Arrow

What is alphabetized? The actor (Barrowman, Lotz, Alejandro) or the character (Merlyn, Lance, Blood)? When I look at the list, neither is in alphabetic order. It really should be first appearance.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:26, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Should be alphabetized by last name of the actor.. makes it easier to read and not seem so random. That's the way it had been and I didn't realize that someone else had messed it up beforehand and i didnt check but it seems to be fixed now.Spanneraol (talk) 15:26, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
Well, it wouldn't be random if you include a note with the other prose stating, "The list is presented in order of first appearance". Even if you don't do that (which to me makes more logical sense), it should still be noted that the list is alphabetical by actor. Retired to Former changes

If you check most of the retired baseball players articles they mainly all say former. In my opinion it doesn't make him sound like he is dead when a athlete or anyone is dead it will start with was instead of anything elseKingryan227 (Decrees • Acts) 22:15, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

First round picks

Why do you assume I think that? If the guy passes GNG an article there is no issue of notability regardless of whether they bomb out of rookie ball. Considering the amount of coverage first round draft picks get nowadays i'd say most are notable enough.--Yankees10 16:27, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Half of the articles you made for first round picks just say "so and so went to x high school and was a first round pick of x team" with no other content. That's a waste of an article. It's better to wait to write an article till there is more to create.. you created tons of articles for HIGH SCHOOL players before the draft. There is no reason to do that other than you wanted to be the first to create an article for them. I have all the dodgers first round picks from the last several seasons on the minor league players page, except for this guy... he doesnt have a ton more info on him than the others do, I see no reason why he needs his own page. Your missing my point, which is common sense trumps the letter of the law.. You could come up with articles to "prove" GNG for almost every minor leaguer out there if you really looked, but that doesn't mean they should all have articles. Spanneraol (talk) 21:00, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
Thats not really true at all though. There are a few very good prospects that I would create but just flat out don't have the sources to pass GNG. I do agree with you that not all prospects that pass GNG should have articles (run of the mill guys with little chance to make the majors), but as a first round pick Holmes is notable.--Yankees10 21:43, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

I've been writing the Dodgers season articles since 2007 and you came in and started making radical formatting changes without discussion. You think we dont need certain stats but you do think its important to know their records against the Cubs and Pirates? Justin Turner article

I noticed that you and another user are "actively" editing the Justin Turner article. Please be careful in keeping to the WP:3RR rules and avoid edit warring, as you have already passed 3 revisions for a 24 hour period. I understand how at times passion can take over logic, but please try and stay on an even course. Attempt to discuss it on the talk page. Also, there is tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, etc, there is no reason to be so focused on having the revision done immediately, try and take a step back and view it from 10000 feet up. Single season articles for MLB players

Hey, Spanneraol. A recent issue has arisen at AfD, which as far as I know is a novel one. WP:NSEASONS is written to address when single seasons of major sports teams may be notable, and when stand-alone articles for such individual seasons may be appropriate. The new issue is whether stand-alone articles are appropriate for single seasons/years of individual athletes. Are you aware of any single-season articles for MLB players? If so, can you identify them for me? Does WP Baseball have any internal standards for such articles, if any exist, or are you relying on WP:GNG? Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 00:44, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

As far as I know, there is no articles of that sort for baseball players.. That discussion I thought was covering players in individual sports like Tennis, or Golf.. not athletes on teams. Spanneraol (talk) 01:03, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
No special articles for DiMaggio's 1933 or Maris' 1961 seasons, eh? Prior to this tennis AfD, I had never encountered the concept of single-season articles for individual athletes, and I'm still having a little trouble accepting the idea even when an exceptional season might be notable per GNG. I'm contemplating filing an RfC, after the AfD is closed, that would clarify whether single-season articles are appropriate for individual athletes, and, if so, what the specific notability guideline for such single seasons should be. I'm also trying to get a grip if any of the other sports projects have something similar they've been doing. Would you mind if I run my proposed RfC language by you before filing it? The only one i can think of that is similar would be Orel Hershiser's scoreless innings streak. Most individual things in baseball could be covered on their individual pages or the team season page I would think.Spanneraol (talk) 01:32, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
Frankly, I would think that would be true of any individual athlete, but you have to see the level of detail in these athlete season articles to believe it. It puts to shame the legendary baseball fan OCD fascination with stats. LOL Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 01:42, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

I may do that. I've got enough WikiProjects, though, so I don't think I'll actually be joining that one, as my interest in baseball is limited mainly to the history of the game, and the characters that make that history fascinating. 2014 Cubs season

I noticed you just inserted a whole new roster. This is not to question what you did. It's more to ask why, so that I can understand distinctions and reasons for editing procedures @ baseball related articles (Cubs and others). Since the roster now contains players that were traded (Darwin Barney for instance and Jeff S.), is the "season-is-over" roster for all the players that were on the roster during the year? Yes... look at all the past season articles. At the end of the year, the current roster is removed (actually moved to the following seasons article) and it is replaced by a roster that includes all the players that played for the team during the season. 2014 ALDS Game Log

First, nice job on all of your baseball editing! But I got a question: I noticed that you deleted the 2014 ALDS game log from the 2014 Baltimore Orioles season page and replaced with a direct to the main 2014 ALDS page. Why not just leave one on the 2014 Orioles page? Take a look at the 2013 Boston Red Sox season page. It has gme logs for the ALDS, ALCS and WS.
