Hi and thank you for your request! I've looked over your request and left a comment. Please check the comment and respond at your request on the main Images for Upload page (not here). Martin, I'm getting so frustrated. Where do I submit this information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soilassociation (talkcontribs)
Okay, I'll try and do it for you. But I'm a little busy now so I'm going to put the helpme template on and hopefully someone will come along and help you! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:18, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hullo, Soilassocation. Just to expedite the image matter, can you give me an idea of what kind of organisation you are? If we can find a similar organisation with an article, we can look at how the images in that article were handled, with a view to doing the same here. Hi, I don't even know how to write back to you. Are you receiving this? Cheers, Jack

Yup, and I got the message at my talkpage too; don't worry, I am watching this page so will notice any changes. So do you think you could perhaps point out an organisation similar to Soil Association that has a Wikipedia entry? Cheers Jack,  Skomorokh, barbarian  15:20, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

User name[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is the name of an organisation and not an individual. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:19, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't even know how to respond to you! Can we take it from the top? We are a charity. Cheers, Jack

Thanks for your help on this. We're a charity. A similar organisation is the RSPB, which includes a logo in its infobox. Cheers, Jack

Whoever sorted out Soil Association's infobox - thank you! Need to make a couple of edits though, as it is also a certification body. Best wishes, Jack

Fair-use rationale[edit]

Fair-use rationales are only placed on image pages where the image is copyright and being used under the fair-use rationale. However fair-use images must comply with all 10 criteria otherwise they will be nominated for deletion. Perhaps you should read my image copyright information page for a better understanding of the issues with images. I am removing the template from your user page as it is unnecessary there. Hope that helps. ww2censor (talk) 17:35, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your request at IFU[edit]

Hi and thank you for your request at Images for Upload! The image has been uploaded. You can find it at File:Soil Association logo.png. See Wikipedia:Images#Using images to learn image syntax. Regards, AJCham 21:03, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Username[edit]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. You have violated one or more of our rules, including rules against adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, using Wikipedia for promotion, and editing inappropriately with a conflict of interest. This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia's policies. Although Wikipedia has a great many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals here, you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
See also Wikipedia:Appealing a block for more information.

Also, I am sorry to say, your latest edit to Soil Association here is totally in violation of many of our policies and guidelines. Please create another username and suggest changes on the talkpage. We are not here to make the Soil Association look good, to be an internet directory for the organisation, etc. etc. Please maintain a neutral point of view. Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 16:26, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks Dirk. Will do.

We share Wikipedia's desire for informative accurate portrayal of subjects agreed by all users as far as possible. The current Soil Association page is very threadbare in terms of only covering part of what the association does, written, it seems, by a few contributers mainly concerned with their interests. That's fine, but it does the page, association and Wikipedia little justice since it only tells part of the story. The content I'd like to see incorporated is written in the third person perspective and without hype. I hope the community agree to allow adoption of at least some of this text as a positive contribution to an accurate page rather than PR hijacking.

Best wishes,

Jack

I see you wish to create another account. I'll leave you to that. I can see that the document may not be a proper reflection, but there were several concerns with that edit. I'd really suggest that you discuss a bit on the talkpage (per WP:COI). Cheers. --Dirk Beetstra T C 08:15, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
