About update on Tuzki

Thanks for your advice. I will make the content more neutral with my next update. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Benjaminyiu (talkcontribs) 08:16, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

The entire "misuse" section of the macro evolution page is essentially anti-Christian propaganda. It makes statements of fact that are for from factual and cites as references decidedly anti-christ in works which are also not based in fact. If Wikipedia wants to remain objective on these types of political issues the entire section should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.71.8.136 (talk) 07:27, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth. It would have been an issue only if the content was biased in any way, but it plainly states the facts as they are given in the cited sources, as you yourself said. The sources, anti-Christian as they may be, are what we consider to be reliable. If you still think the section shouldn't be there, you may ask for a third opinion on this matter. Bio update for Kahlil Byrd

"If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Smtchahal (talk) 17:27, 8 February 2014 (UTC)"

Hello, and thank you for your input. The updates were made to reflect the current position and title of Kahlil Byrd. Updates are reflected on the organization's website and need to be updated in Wikipedia as well. Mikary (talk) 17:35, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

Replied. Smtchahal (talk) 18:10, 8 February 2014 (UTC)

"I appreciate your efforts to update the article, but I reverted your changes again because 1. the Mother Jones article does not even mention Kahlil Byrd and 2. we cannot use a primary source (see WP:OR). Smtchahal (talk) 18:07, 8 February 2014 (UTC)"

Thank you for your help with this. I can remove the Mother Jones article reference (understood your point) but I am unclear on point 2. What constitutes as a primary source in my edits? I am new to navigating this and I appreciate your help in updating the page.

templates

The reason I put the {{Image requested}} template on my talk page is so I could upload photos to wikimedia as my account was not confirmed yet. Jay M (talk) 17:51, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Regarding change to David Eastwood's page

Hi,

You removed my message due to lack of a reference. I didn't include one because it's all over the news. Would an article from e.g. the guardian http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/feb/10/free-speech-threat-universities count as a reference?

Kind regards! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.251.112.232 (talk) 14:40, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Reflist cleanup of Oregano (web browser)

Hi. I was wondering whether this reflist cleanup is part of Reflinks or similar, or was a manual edit. I'm not sure that there's any specific policy regarding use of {{Reflist}}, and I used list-defined references because it can simplify the reuse of references elsewhere within the article. I don't always do this, but chose to do so in this case. If my reasoning had been more obvious (e.g. if I'd explicitly included the refs= parameter, although the template seems to work without it) do you still think you'd have performed the cleanup? What do you think about all this? Thanks. -- Trevj (talk · contribs) 09:12, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

That was a manual edit. I just checked out the help page about list-defined references, and yes, it is supported and should work well. However, what I noticed was that using list-defined references in the above-mentioned article somehow made the reference/citation list bulleted rather than numbered, which I now realise was because of not using the refs= parameter. That is what I intended to "fix" by doing that "cleanup" because a bulleted reference list is generally not used for citations and I was admittedly not aware of list-defined references. I don't see a problem with the use of list-defined references as long as the list is numbered. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Smtchahal (talk) 12:56, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining things. That's really helpful because I spotted the other day that some refs (I think elsewhere) were bulletted rather than being numbered. I didn't know why, and assumed it was some sort of CSS error or something because they used to be fine. Perhaps it's a change to the template itself, although there've only been 2 edits to it within the past 12 months. Anyway, I'll revert and include the refs bit... and then try to seek out some other occurrences I've probably introduced. Cheers. -- Trevj (talk · contribs) 21:38, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Minor Edits

I know what minor edit is called and know when to use them but in my browser(chrome) the minor edit button is always checked, I can uncheck it but it becomes tedious to do so. It does not occur with IE 10 from which I am writing you this reply. But I can't kick chrome because I like it so much because of its "ripped-to-the-bone" architecture and developer modes, I do lot of SRC fixing (image) and other stuff. —Soham 06:33, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

IMBD is not a reliable source and therefore cannot be used to establish notability. Please consider participating in the discussion if you think the article should be kept, instead of contacting me again. Smtchahal (talk) 11:43, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
