Unifight article

Hello! After your comment on my talk page, I took the liberty of re-writing the lead paragraph of the Unifight article - I hope you find it acceptable.

I would suggest that you add some in-line citations or footnotes in the section Unifight#Technique; see Wikipedia:Tutorial_(Citing_sources). The article has one already in the 'History' section concerning the European Unifight Federation and several in the 'Championships' section.

Hello, thank you for help on this article. What kind of citations could I add in Unifight technique section ? I don't see, really. The only document I have about technique is Unifight rules, in .pdf format. I will add a link to Downloads page on Unifight European Federation, I hope it will be ok. The sources do show a level of notability but more sourcing is still a good thing, and certain kinds of statements, controversial or particularly relevant (such as military origins of a martial art) need a sources, this is to prevent every art claiming it dose for promotional reasons. Similarly promotional type material is not allowed in, or linked from articles, unless there is a good reason, e.g. dissuasion of a specific advert. --Nate^t/_c 09:41, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

I feel the way it reads (especial with the link farm at he bottom) is is not ideal. The tags art there to flag up issues with the article, it does need more sources, there are list that could better be shown as prose and in general the article could be better formatted. The tags are their because they flag the article up in lists of articles that need improvement, some editors work by going through these lists so it will simply attract more people to improve the article. --Nate^t/_c 14:07, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

You may also wish to read about reliable sources the link you have added to cite military applications is a primary source so not usable in this context. --Nate^t/_c 14:11, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately my French is virtualy non-existent, last use was @ school 10+ years ago, so i have forgotten most of the grammar and have no appropriate vocabulary.

Sergey Novikov

[1] gives his country as 'URS'. [2] says he is Russian. [3] You say he is Ukrainian. I do not understand.

A second problem (and the reason for the tag): you say Unifight was created out of German military traning programs.[4]. Some anonymous IP is saying other countries. Could you please find a reference (from a third party, not Unifight) that make clear where Unifight was founded and by whom? There must be some international newspaper or fight magazine with an article about Unifight: this would make the article very strong. About Serhiy Novikov : the Wikipedia page about him (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serhiy_Novikov), NOT MAKE by me, tells clearelly that M. Novikov is Ukrainean (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Novikov). I know personnally M. Novikov very well, and I know also he is ukrainean. He fight for URSS and win Olympic Championship for URSS because at this time Ukraine was a soviet republic, not independent like now.

Hi Simone! I think you have not yet understood Wikipedia:Reliable sources. "The word "source" as used on Wikipedia has three related meanings: the piece of work itself (the article, book), the creator of the work (the writer, journalist), and the publisher of the work (The New York Times, Cambridge University Press). All three can affect reliability."

Wikipedia is not a reliable source. Self-published web sites are not reliable. A newspaper with unknown editorial policy is not reliable. An organization web site can be used only in limited cases (see Wikipedia:PRIMARY#Primary.2C_secondary_and_tertiary_sources). A foreign language source is not automatically unreliable but it is difficult to determine the reliability of the writer and publisher.

The current references are good as supporting material but the article does not yet have one Wiki Reliable Source. You need to find a description of Unifight written in English and published by a well-know publisher. Good luck! jmcw (talk) 20:03, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
