Image tagging for Image:TakeawaysBio.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:TakeawaysBio.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:DeborahConwayVanguard.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:DeborahConwayVanguard.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:DeborahConwayVanguard.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 04:33, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:AdulterySingleCover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AdulterySingleCover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 12:01, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:EdgeOfWinter.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:EdgeOfWinter.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:25, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Gimme Some Lovin' or Gimme Some Loving?

Am happy to go with the title as listed/registered on the Australasian Performing Rights Association website - was only going on what the band's website had listed the title as. Dan arndt 08:20, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Regarding David Reyne

Thanks for contacting me about your concerns regarding my edits to the David Reyne article. I have responded here on my talk page as well as a short response to your message here on the article's talk page. If you would like a copy of the Robert Fidgeon article, just let me know. Am attempting to put together an article on Roddy Radalj (work in progress) - appreciate your input.Dan arndt (talk) 01:13, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the edits - have inserted his biography (will still need to insert references) and have posted the article (just another gap filled in the Hoodoo Gurus history. Dan arndt (talk) 05:52, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Discography - think I should revert back to the previous set up for all the bands he's been in?Dan arndt (talk) 06:20, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Have reverted the layout back to my original format. Will find the reference but am fairly sure that Guns, Girls & Guitars was released in 2005.Dan arndt (talk) 06:35, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Between the two of us I think that the article now looks half decent - thanks for the assist.Dan arndt (talk) 07:01, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Using a bit of detective work I estimate that he was born in 1961 (haven't been able to confirm that) - he grew up in Fremantle but I can't track down when his family migrated to Australia. I am searching some of the local school databases to see if I can find out what school he attended... but don't think I will be able to find much more. If anything it makes the article on James Baker look a little light on - more work needed there. Dan arndt (talk) 07:29, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
I always go with the spelling as shown on the album cover as to me that is the most definitive source. Dan arndt (talk) 23:33, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

I keep on looking at this article and thinking that it needs to be fleshed out more - there is nothing about Persian Rugs or any other side projects - and I know that there is more information available on his early history (pre-Hoodoo Gurus). I'll have to look up some of his interviews and see what I can find. Dan arndt (talk) 06:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Great to know someone else is showing some interest in upgrading the article - have created seperate articles for each of the band's albums & was in the process of doing articles for the various singles but would be happy to help out if you want to do it.Dan arndt (talk) 05:38, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

You've done a great job already, I've modified Hoodoo Gurus, Blow Your Cool, "What's My Scene?" and Dave Faulkner a little recently. RE: Hoodoo Gurus - should we include the Moops? Are Persian Rugs defunct or an alt name for HG? Should "What's My Scene?" be changed to "What's My Scene" (no query, according to its registered title at APRA). Do you intend doing their EPs? I intend modifying the rest of the studio album pages slightly and then start on HG's notable singles including "Leilani" and "Miss Freelove 69".Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:29, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Your edits really add to the articles. In answer to your queries: Persian Rugs (formerly The Moops) mainly a side project of Mark Kingsmill but did involve some of the other members of HG. Possibly a separate article could be done on HG side projects. "What's My Scene" should be as the APRA listing - though will have to check my copy of the album to see how it is listed there... In respect to the EPs were you talking about the 12" versions of Kinky, Magnum Cum Louder, Blow Your Cool and Mars Needs Guitars or the Hoodoo Voodoo EP? Thought an easy starting point would be the band's singles but have made an attempt (User:Dan arndt/sandbox/Hoodoo Voodoo). Dan arndt (talk) 07:20, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
If it is "What's My Scene", then the article may require page moving/renaming. EPs: Yeah, the 12" versions listed (& others), plus Singles Six Pack (1985) (or is this a compilation?) and Hoodoo Voodoo (1997). But I agree that it'd be better to start Singles first. I'm still trawling the existing album pages.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:10, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Have attempted to update the template for HG (Template:Hoodoo Gurus) but don't think I've quite got the colours right - what do you think?Dan arndt (talk) 08:01, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Aren't the colours defined somewhere? I've looked at other bands' Templates but see no consistency in usage but check at- Category:Rock music groups templates - for more ideas. The other templates seem to be bland in comparison to yours, but maybe that's what Wikipedians want?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:10, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Have corrected the colours on the Template:Hoodoo Gurus to match the Wiki guidelines - have amended the listing of Rod Radlj as Rodney ('Roddy') Radlj - have also created the article on Hoodoo Voodoo appreciate your edits - will look at Stoneage Romeos and check the various track listings.Dan arndt (talk) 03:09, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Have added the various singles released on the respective album articles but haven't had the time to put in the actual dates for their releases - you might want to add those - am still looking at creating separate items for each single (when I have the time).Dan arndt (talk) 00:50, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

I've already seen some of this on Crank - looks good. I'm still not entitely sure about Singles Dates or Orders. BTW, have you had a chance to check Stoneage Romeos yet? Also, "Turn Up Your Radio" is on the Crank 2005 re-issue and was released as a single but when? Was it 1995 or 2005? If the former, your order needs fixing. In any case should it be given as a single on the Crank article or because it wasn't on the original it gets left off Crank's list?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:47, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Have corrected the dates of the EMI re-releases - EMI released all the remastered copies in 2005 so I have corrected & inserted the EMI reference. In respect to "Turn Up Your Radio", it should be included in the singles of the Crank album it just needs to specified in the release date that it was released in 2005 - Probably need to include a comment in the article itself.Dan arndt (talk) 02:22, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
Correction "Turn Up Your Radio" was released separately from Crank in 1995, it was only included on the EMI re-release of Crank in 2005 (but was never a single from the album).Dan arndt (talk) 02:28, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

That's My Team

Ideally it should be a separate article as it was released as a separate single however until either of us gets the time to prepare a separate article - I think leave it with the article "What's My Scene?". Dan arndt 23:57, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Blue Cave

Will try and track down a copy of the album and have a look at the actual track listing on the album sleeve - will let you know what i find. 08:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Have confirmed that "Monteray Sunset" is not on the original release of the album & have therefore changed the track listing in the article.Dan arndt (talk) 04:41, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I agree that the additional information you've provided really improves the article - the release of the album as seven singles was really just a promotional stunt and shouldn't be listed as offical singles. I think including them in the article as you've done is sufficient. The Australian release preceded the US release and therefore the image in the infobox should reflect that. The EMI re-release used the same cover as the original Australian release (if you can source a copy with the bonus stickers etc then I think I can adjust it all to match.Dan arndt (talk) 02:49, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Of course you are right the cover of the 2005 EMI re-release was the same as the cover of the 1996 Mushroom Records release abiet with a sticker on the front. I just felt that whilst the image was there I'd use it - do you think it makes it too cluttered?Dan arndt (talk) 04:47, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Leilani

Great start - which single are you thinking of doing next? - have modified the HG template again taking out the red links to the band members.Dan arndt (talk) 00:51, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Shaidar cuebiyar. You are off to such a great start on the article Leilani (song) that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article. Dihydrogen Monoxide 02:34, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Hey again. When creating these articles, please tag them for WP:AUSMUS, as I have done here. Thanks for your help, Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:18, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Tojo

Thought that we should continue with providing separate articles for each of the Hoodoo Gurus' singles - given you've now made an initial start - have added "Tojo" what do you think?Dan arndt (talk) 02:48, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Also now added "My Girl". Dan arndt (talk) 08:56, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Bittersweet

Will have to do "I Want You Back" as well - made some slight adjustments (included in listing the 12" tracks) as the APRA link is down can't include who the credited writer(s) are... Thanks for the comments about recognition but the true recognition is getting the article up to a 'GA' status. Changes to the template look fine. Need to ensure that all singles when created (if similar articles exist) use Hoodoo Gurus song not HG song. Keep up the good work.Dan arndt (talk) 00:21, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

The reference to Faulkner supplied backing vocals for Courtney Love's lead vocals on "Bittersweet" cover (track 7) by her band Hole from the unoffical 1999 Sydney Big Day Out concert recording should be referred to in the article on "Bittersweet". My view is that if it is relevant to the song and/or its history it is worth mentioning - particularly where it is covered by another notable singer or band but doesn't warrant a separate article in it's own right. Most music articles (albums/songs) are only 'offical' releases unless the unoffical release is in some way notable. It is however not notable enough to be include in the Hoodoo Gurus, Dave Faulkner or Courtney Love articles. Dan arndt (talk) 01:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Like Wow - Wipeout!

At your rate of production should be finished all of HG's singles in a few weeks - will get on to "I Want You Back" shortly - am a bit under the weather with some sort of flu bug so might not get finished until the new year - good luck & so far all your edits and articles are looking great.Dan arndt (talk) 00:52, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

I Want You Back

Haven't managed to track down too many references to the song for the article - you might have better luck Dan arndt (talk) 01:20, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

New Articles

Both of the new articles for "Come Anytime" and "Miss Freelove '69" are looking good - keep up the good work. Dan arndt (talk) 05:26, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Bite the Bullet

Have tried to flesh out the article with references to the various covers - feel free to add any more. Dan arndt (talk) 03:05, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

The additional covers look good. Dan arndt (talk) 06:02, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
If you've been able to source a pic of the Bite the Bullet (live) CD cover then you should insert probably alongside the track listing - depends on what the cover of the 3CD package was. Dan arndt (talk) 01:03, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Mach Schau

Was either single, "Nothing's Changing My Life" or "When You Get to California", ever released in the other country? Do you know whether Mach Schau had similtaneous releases in both the US and Australia? Did any of the singles or the album chart in either country? Did any of the songs recieve any airplay in either country? Dan arndt (talk) 01:17, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Hoodoo Guru Songs

Not a problem will set up sub-category as per your suggestion. Dan arndt (talk) 06:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Category is 'songs' as it contains more than one. Dan arndt (talk) 06:53, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
OOOps - see what you mean - will change... Dan arndt (talk) 07:00, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Why shucks! - need to populate the category now. Dan arndt (talk) 07:10, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
A hi-speed internet connection at the office helps (even if I am doing three jobs at once). Dan arndt (talk) 07:27, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I probably wouldn't have created a category: Hoodoo Gurus members and would have just put them in the category:Hoodoo Gurus - but otherwise you've done fine. Dan arndt (talk) 08:04, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Hall of Fame

As the group is being inducted then it is only the group which falls within this category otherwise each individual would be seperately inducted - so Rick Grossman's case it is only Divinyls and Hoodoo Gurus which are included in the category - although a reference can be made in the article on the person. Dan arndt (talk) 08:10, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Article Status

Have recently made a request for the status of The Hoodoo Gurus article to be re-assessed & its been shifted to a 'B' status - hopefully with some work we can eventually get it to a 'GA' status. Dan arndt (talk) 09:01, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

One of the Admins reckons that the article is getting close to being in a form to nominate for 'GA' status personally I think there is still a lot of work needed. Saw your your recent contributions & are all looking good. Dan arndt (talk) 03:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
The article is looking better and better - probablby needs more references to the various tours the Gurus undertook (if their is any press releases/reviews relating to the tours). Maybe the two sections 'Side Projects and Solo Work' and 'Hoodoo Hiatus' need to be joined as a single section - will see if I can locate any references to Rick Grossman's participation in the Moops/Persian Rugs. If there were any additional releases then they should be referred to into the article don't know whether a limited release (Brazil) should have a seperate article - at this stage probably just refer to it in the main article. Dan arndt (talk) 01:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Have asked some other editors/adminstrators whether the article is getting close to GA status and have been informed that is damm close! Need to continue to insert references/citations on every aspect of the article. Have been suggested that we use a wikitable for the awards section (am useless at doing those) and that we expand the "ARIA Hall of Fame" section. Will work on the various tour dates etc. Nice to know all this work might get recognised. Keep at it. Dan arndt (talk) 06:13, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Maybe if we could track down the acceptance speech we could use that to expand the "ARIA Hall of Fame" section - have interview with Faulkner [1] that we could use somehow. Dan arndt (talk) 06:31, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I saw the article but was hoping for a direct quote from his speech - will keep searching. Promotional pictures are generally not accepted unless you have the photographer (or copyright owners) express permission for the picture to be reproduced - as they are replacable with a free image (trust me I've fought and lost this argument before). Dan arndt (talk) 06:59, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately none of the quotes so far are really 'juicy' enough for me - have done a few edits - am trying to find out which songs the Gurus performed on the night. Dan arndt (talk) 07:36, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Stick the image in and hopefully someone else has a better one. Dan arndt (talk) 07:45, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Need to insert references relating to the appearance on Simon Townsend's Wonder World & the Don Lane Show if you can find them. Dan arndt (talk) 07:48, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Already referenced the songs - will check and see whether that is sufficient for that section. Dan arndt (talk) 08:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Something about great minds.... didn't mean to preempt you on the image. Dan arndt (talk) 08:29, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Found a direct quote from an interview with James Baker (about his sacking from the Gurus) which I have referenced. I think we need to look at some form of wikitable in the Hoodoo Gurus discography were we can put the various chart & sales achievements. I think we need some one with a fresh set of eyes to go over the article 'cause to me it's starting to look a little cumbersome. Dan arndt (talk) 00:17, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Mark Kingsmill

I haven't been able to track down many side projects that he was involved after the Gurus disbanded (other than Persian Rugs). He did appear on a tribute album for Marc Hunter, called Good Vibrations released in 1998 and a compliation (xmas) album called Lump of Coal (released October, 1991) on RCA - however I can't find out (yet) which tracks he appeared on. Dan arndt (talk) 08:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Brad Shepherd

Have expanded this section - but could include his credits on some of the Ghostwriters albums as well as other session work. I noticed you've already mentioned his contributions with The Kelly Gang. There was also another album, I think, that he and Faulkner where inlvolveed together on. Dan arndt (talk) 00:01, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Dave Faulkner

Need to include a comment about his participation in the Fleshtones - also did any of the Side Projects do any national tours etc - played support for any notable bands etc. Dan arndt (talk) 23:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Managers

Only need to refer to the Managers if they are notable or they had some significant impact on the band/ the band's direction otherwise its probably not that relevant. Dan arndt (talk) 23:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Stoneage Cameos

As the album was not a Hoodoo Gurus' album I don't think it should be included in the Discography or Template. It could be a separate article but only if you think there is sufficent reasoning for it to be a notable article.(I think for the time being it is fine where it is). Dan arndt (talk) 23:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I think that the time has come to actually create an article for this song - that way we can put all the various comments as to how the song came about. Dan arndt (talk) 23:55, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Great start - will see about adding all the various stories that circulated at the time in relation to the origins of the song. Dan arndt (talk) 07:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Have you been able to track down anything about where he was born, date of birth (might be able to extrapolate from known dates/age), parents, siblings, dates when he attended school (Sydney Boys High School may have details). Also any details about any of his early bands... Have you been able to find out whether he did anything between 2002 (when he left Persian Rugs) and 2003 when the Gurus started recording Mach Schau. Did the Kelly Gang perform anywhere or did they just form to record the album? Need to expand the sections on both Hoodoo Gurus (particularly if Grossman did any songwriting or lead vocals for any songs) similarly for Ghostwriters... Otherwise the article is looking reasonable. Dan arndt (talk) 05:14, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Apart from his session work on Damien Lovelock's solo album in 1990 can you find any other references to work he may have done on other projects? Dan arndt (talk) 05:48, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Where does Grossman currently live? is he married? does he have any kids? Dan arndt (talk) 05:49, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

BLPN

Hello. It's been so long since you placed your note at WP:BLPN about Frank Howson, that I thought I'd duplicate my reply here. :) I'll be watching your talk page if you'd like to discuss it with me further.

I have tagged the article with {{COI2}} and left template {{Uw-coi}} at the talk page of the editor. I am unfamiliar with the subject, but as a regular contributor trust that you will be keeping an eye on it. :) If you feel the problem persists, you may have better luck addressing it at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard where volunteers are more accustomed to dealing specifically with this issue. I know it recommends at the top bringing BLP issues here, but I do see other autobiographies addressed on that page. I suspect (though I'm not sure) that they mean a COI where an editor is deliberately defaming the subject of the article rather than promoting him. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:50, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind response, my concerns relate to both self-promotion within the Frank Howson article but also the editor's contributions to linked articles. To my eye they tend to be non-NPOV and poorly referenced & I have corrected some that I felt were too extreme: other editors have done likewise. Until recently, I was unaware that the editor was almost certainly the subject of this article and thus had particular personal biases for or against living individuals in other articles. With this hindsight, more of his contributions are possible non-NPOV statements and they still remain, both here and elsewhere. Since I have also been a contributor to many of the same articles I felt that I should not delete nor modify his contributions due to possible bias.
I suggest looking at the article's Page History starting with 14:30, 9 August 2007 version, just before I started editing the article: it was due to be deleted! I put in a lot of effort to wikify this article in good faith perceiving the content to be notable but poorly formatted. Check the article's version on 00:21, 21 September 2007 after most of my changes had been implemented. I did contribute a few more times attempting to obtain a photo of Mr. Howson for the infobox but no usable image was available however consider: Image:Frank Howson.jpg uploaded by the editor and which I used for the article but was subsequently deleted. I pointed out on the editor's talk page (on 11:41, 25 September 2007, before due date of deletion had occurred) that it was a good image but that it was the same as that on Mr. Howson's MySpace page: I believed it had been taken off the page without permission but the editor may have been able to provide evidence of such permission.
Now, however, I suspect Howson of writing almost all of the content of the article - I concede that he has a phenomenal memory (or has kept very good notes): I have been able to verify / edit substantial portions of his account but some remains murky and likely non-NPOV. I notice from the article that Howson has researched and is promoting a "tell all" book, he has produced/directed new film/stage projects since returning to Australia and is looking to start more projects: thus portions of this article becomes highly suspect as self-promotional.
IMO, other articles that require checking for possible non-NPOV statements made by this editor (or by non-identified ISPs that may be same person) include: Terry Reid (self-promotion?); John Paul Young negative non-NPOV & since deleted (but may return in future); Kerry Armstrong negative non-NPOV is still in article; Les Darcy (self-promotion? & negative non-NPOV to Heath Ledger); Stan Rofe (self-promotion?); Magical Frank (self-promotion? & merge to existing Frank Howson as being same person!) similar {{COI2}} and {{COI2}} may be needed here too; and Guy Pearce (self-promotion? some still remains: most of the original non-NPOV (negative comments about Pearce) entries have be deleted by other editors).
Due to my own involvement, I don't believe I have sufficient neutrality to undertake the edits / changes that I perceive to be required. Hence, I have asked for a suitable administrator to check entries by this editor (& possible non-identified ISP edits) for non-NPOV content.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 03:04, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
It sounds very much as though you might want to file this at WP:COIN, then. I would imagine that the editors there are used to dealing with such situations and may be able to help straighten it out. Good luck with it! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 03:15, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Hoodoo Gurus tours

Have added some information about some of their early tours - did you know that Lou Reed was the opening act for their 1986 MTV performance at the Ritz in New York?

  • I think that it is time that we put the article up for 'GA' nomination and see what feedback we get. Dan arndt (talk) 02:52, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Future Collaborations

Seeing that we have worked relatively well on HG do you want to give another one a try - was thinking about Australian Crawl I started work on it last year but got sidetracked, as I often do. It needs a whole swag of references but the general bones of it are there - have listed their albums and most of their singles. Anyway give it a look and tell me what you think. If you want to look at any other worthy articles let me know. Dan arndt (talk) 06:08, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Am going to see what I can do about improving this article - am not promising anything but I'll see if I can adapt a couple of wikitables, particularly in respect to the singles. Dan arndt (talk) 07:46, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

  • The chart for the singles looks good - probably is better located on the discography page than on the HG page - need to add to the table all the singles even if they didn't chart and include any promo singles, radio singles and overseas released singles.
  • I can't find anything to support "In Blue Cave" as a single but as per previous comments we could add a note on the discography listing.
  • Persian Rugs is better left as a separate article.Dan arndt (talk) 02:01, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
    • I've started with the Wikitables - what do think? Dan arndt (talk) 04:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
      • I attempted a wikitable for the singles but ran out of steam.... could do with your help. Dan arndt (talk) 00:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

HG Tour

Based on the ifno I've been able to find Kingsmill was on the HG's intial tour of the US - which would make it in 1985. Dan arndt (talk) 02:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Then we have conflicting info. Harp's Fred Mills says he saw them "Thanksgiving eve 1984" (Nov 20ish) in Charlotte, NC and reiterates later with "Shortly before the '84 American tour, drummer James Baker quit the band, replaced with Mark Kingsmill." Harp Magazine
Since James was fired in August '84 ... this implies Kingsmill joined in 1984, (Aus Rock Db confirms 84) learnt his parts, they toured US and then they went into studios for Mars Needs Guitars! (released in May 85).
Also check HG bootlegs with three recorded in US late 84. One of these could be the very concert Mills saw!Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:11, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Based on the above would have to say the US tour obviously commenced in 1984 - good detective work! Dan arndt (talk) 07:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

HG Discog

Have decided to use your wikitable for the singles as I couldn't get my version to work - have put in the US chart listings for the albums & included a note relating to the singles for Blue Cave - will look at adding further notes possibly for Magnum Cum Louder. Dan arndt (talk) 08:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

The Real Deal

Do you have a date for the single release? Dan arndt (talk) 08:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Have included it in the infobox for Electric Chair, as per your suggestion. Dan arndt (talk) 08:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
The Armchair Gurus & Electric Chair were apparently released to coincide with the band's farewell Australian tour (which took place in November 1997) - based on that I would have to guess that Hoodoo Voodoo was released prior to that. "The Real Deal" (again just a guess) must have been around the same time as the albums - more detective work required. Dan arndt (talk) 08:36, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

The article has the EP released on March 27, 1997 but dicogs has it as being released in February, 1997. Am not certain where I originally tracked down the release date.... In any case I think we can safely assume that Armchair Gurus, Electric Chair & "The Real Deal" were all released later that year. Will see if I can track down any actual release dates... Dan arndt (talk) 09:03, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Mystery solved - Armchair Gurus contained one new song, whilst Electric Chair contains four new songs. Dan arndt (talk) 09:06, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
