Ways to improve List of Egyptian films of 1931[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Sdslkd, thanks for creating List of Egyptian films of 1931!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Thanks for creating this. It appears to have no references - are the external links actually your sources rather than friendly suggestions? If so, can you change 'External links' to 'References' or 'Sources' to make it clear? Imdb is not allowed as a source, see WP:RS.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

The article List of Egyptian films of 1938 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Essentially no content and no sources, just 2 'external links', at least one of which is banned specifically at WP:RS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disambiguation link notification for October 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Warning[edit]

1) Please stop creating unreferenced articles. 2) Please answer the question you have been asked many times, are your 'external links' just friendly suggestions or actually your sources? 3) Please do not remove deletion tags without even giving an edit summary with your reason.

WP:Communication is required. Please respond. Boleyn (talk) 19:35, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am simply moving the data of the Egyptian films from decades to individual years. These titles had little to no refrences before. I added the external links to support these film titles but they are not enough and that's why I am gradually adding reliable sources for each title like this, this and this. Sdslkd (talk) 19:56, 7 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sdslkd, some of the individual films may indeed be notable to have in the English Wikipedia, but why are you breaking down the decade lists to individual years in decades where there are only few films per year? These small lists are bound to become questioned and I see no strong argument that can save them from deletion. Can't we have lists by decades for the decades where few films only are notable enough for this Wikipedia and break down to individual years only decades with many notable films per year? Thanks. Hoverfish Talk 22:52, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the lists are incomplete, after I add the titles with their sources I will see which lists should be merged especially the lists in 1910s and 1920s Sdslkd (talk) 23:30, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so long as there is a plan to keep this in bounds, you could maybe use the {{Newlist}} header in some of them to avoid premature reactions. Cheers. Hoverfish Talk 23:49, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fesikh[edit]

I'm afraid I simply don't agree with you about Fesikh. The criterion is not that Egyptians think it's an important dish - surely they do - but whether in the context of the cuisine of the Mediterranean it is one of the two or three dishes which most clearly shout "this is Mediterranean, and distinctively Egyptian". Ful medames obviously does this - everybody else at once thinks "Egypt" when they see it in a restaurant. Fesikh doesn't have that effect on us all. In addition, we only want a minimal number of items per region - you'll notice that Valencia (with a host of fine and delicious dishes) is represented by exactly one, paella, its signature dish. I hope you can see that the principle of selection is to pick the absolute essentials. A template can't be an enormous list (we have lists and categories for that): less is more. Ancient Egyptian race controversy[edit]

Is there a reason why you are systematically removing anything linking to Ancient Egyptian race controversy, Black Egyptian hypothesis et similia? Are you aware that Wikipedia is not censored? Khruner (talk) 16:14, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the articles had nothing to do with the race controversy so I removed the links. Sdslkd (talk) 19:27, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Balaha"[edit]

Was your "balaha" edit a serious addition or were you simply test editing? Please tell me it was the latter. I called it vandalism in my edit summary and I was wrong, but that doesn't excuse such gross BLP violations. Will you please be careful next time? I will be. Sdslkd (talk) 12:52, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:2000s in Egyptian cinema requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read!
