haiku sources

Dear sir, I have reverted your recent changes to the Haiku in English article. I agree that the citations need to be made, but the sources should probably be from a text book. As far as the citation method goes, I think it would probably be best to use something less-obtrusive. I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject, and I will try to help with any other changes Mrathel (talk) 08:23, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello sir, I have many sources from which I can quote, however, I'm really not sure how to do everything. So thank you so much for offering to help. If you feel these citations need to be made from a book, I can do that. I would like to quote 3 different books in the spaces provided. Thank you for letting me know that books are the more reliable sources. Also, I could really use some help with my article on Jim Kacian. Can you help, or should I just keep editing? When I made the last changes to my article on Jim Kacian boxes appeared. I'm not referring to the contents box, but farther down the page. Do the boxes indicate the problem places? The Reason the boxes appear is because the format of the text is not supported by the wiki. manual indentations will appear as boxes in most cases, and if you copy and paste from non-supported formats, it will often surround the text in a box.Just for reference, if you want to direct someone to an article surround it in brackets like Jim Kacian Mrathel (talk) 20:12, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

If you are looking for feedback on the Jim Kacian article, I would love to throw my hat in here for a second. The first issue is that many people are going to press you for a claim to notability, which is almost implied in your context but could be greatly improved with a few sources on the topic that extend beyond anything published by Red Moon Press. Read over WP:Creative and find a few non-trivial sources to cite information about the poet. These could be anything published by a poetry review, a university, or a book on modern Haiku that contains achedemic discussions of any poem by the poet. Next, read the WP:Cite articlem and do your best to use footnotes for reference. This is not necessarily a requirement for wikipedia, but it is a requirement for Good Articles and Featured Articles, and most of us have just switched to it out of habbit. It is pretty easy once you learn how to put the citataions into propert wiki HTML. I could help if you have any questions after reading the Citataion article. Hello Yumegusa. Thank you for your kind suggestions and your helpful edits. It might be difficult to support the "one breath" quality stated in Haiku in English, though it is still said and spoken of. I do not own all of the haiku "How to" books, but I will add a new citation, which you can check, and I have research on-going by someone who owns the books I don't. After all your hard work on Jim Kacian, I wonder would you be in a position to help out with the William J Higginson article? I created it a few weeks back, but it's a bit thin on facts. Whatever you think relevant to an encyclopaedic article. You appear to have in-depth knowledge in the area which could be a real asset in editing such articles. Since it pertains to haiku, I think highlighting his contributions and some of his work might be the way to go. I believe there are many articles that cite his expertise in the field and that he is best known recently for his work with an English-language saijiki. He has a new (updated) volume of Wolrd Haiku coming out. I'll have to check to see if it's out yet. With his death and the loss and the memorials . . . But also his Handbook was almost a bible for most 'new to haiku' poets in the 90s. We can cite many articles that attain to that. I think we can add some of his work that has been anthologized, but I'll need to check about those and/or get permission from his partner, Penny Harter. He also taught renku. I'll check the net and all the articles and books I have. I'll also ask around. Busy at the moment with things, but I'll read up. Thanks for all that. It's a busy time for many, and I'm away for the next couple of weeks myself. There's no rush on these things, but it's nice to keep them moving in the right direction. • • • I just skimmed through the piece for Bill. The Haiku Handbook is no longer with McGraw Hill, but with Kodansha International now, for some years. Look it up on amazon. Seasons and World are out of print with Kodansha, but The Haiku Seasons is due out soon in a 2nd edition from Stonebridge Press. Again, look on the web for it, perhaps at their site. I haven't had time to check.
    • You can use any photo you want. Maybe the one of him reading at the NJ poetry center would be fine. Just try to contact Anthony. (Is that on google-photos if I search?) And of course you can use "holding the water" (no caps, I think) and any other poem of his you like. Just tell me first.
