October 2014[edit]

Hello, I'm MusikAnimal. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Simon Garber  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. — MusikAnimal talk 16:37, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Dawn Bard. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Simon Garber because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The changes you made didn't match the source that was cited Dawn Bard (talk) 16:43, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Simon Garber. Thank you. --Richard Yin (talk) 16:58, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am aware of why I was blocked and will not delete correct referenced information. However, as a friend of the PR company, I will edit if something is not correct as I know a lot about the person Simon Garber and his company. I will source everything I include. This is my first time using this website so I was unaware of a lot of information. I read and understand now. The information I cited is correct. I also understand the username change. I just included because I am a friend of the company and did not want to include my real name. Thank you

Decline reason:

Your editing so far has been a clear and unambiguous attempt to (a) post promotional copy about a person, and (b) to remove critical or negative information about him. At least some of your editing has removed valid content. You have also used blatantly dishonest methods to try to hide what you were doing, as in this edit, where you changed a message from another editor to try to hide criticism of your editing. Under those circumstances, to consider unblocking you I would need a much more unequivocal indication that any future editing will be radically different from what you have done so far. You also make it clear in your unblock request that your intention is to continue to edit on the same topic, where you clearly have a conflict of interest. Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "RosnerPR", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. --Richard Yin (talk) 16:59, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
