@CastJared: Not sure what you mean by "it fell Euphoria apart". Ratna's actual name

I disagree; Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. If we were to list every song, we'd have infoboxes bursting at the seams with 10+ tracks, which isn't really helpful to anyone. @Turin07: The "U.S. viewers" corresponds to the "Original air date" column—as in, the number of viewers of the original airing on HBO. I'm told this is standard across television articles. However, your edit was incorrect regardless: for example, "5.88 million" is not a number associated with the first episode in any way, linear or not, and is not supported by any references. Her Story credits

Hello! I wanted to ask you about this revert where you removed the writer and director credits for Sam Barlow. I very much disagree with your reasoning, as the infobox for a game should reflect the credits of that game in my opinion. While Barlow is listed as the developer, I don't see why that would preclude his inclusion for the other credits as well. Just as a comparison (not saying this is 1:1), the film Primer was written, directed, edited, produced, scored, and starred Shane Carruth, and he is credited in all of those fields.

Is there a precedent for this with one-person games and how they're credited? I figured we would match the credits as is but maybe there's something I'm missing. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Sock (tock talk) 15:08, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

@Sock: I appreciate the message. This is an approach I've seen with other solo-developed games like Papers, Please, Stardew Valley, and Undertale. I suppose the difference with films is that there isn't really an overarching parameter like "Developer" or "Designer"; directing a film does not mean one also wrote or edited it, whereas being named the sole developer of a video game implies writing and designing. NY Game Awards in YYYY in video games article

I know you've recently added the NY Game Awards to these tables; I believe that's a bit too narrow of a body of critics to consider as important as TGA, GDC, or BAFTA. I recognize that it is probably one of the few other real awards (ignoring things like Steam Awards), but at the same time, there are also awards like the Golden Joysticks that could be considered larger. The 5 that we presently feature give us the TGAs (press vote), DICE (industry vote), and GDC (developer vote), in addition to the BAFTA (UK centric) and Japan Awards (Japan centric) and I think that's enough.

I now think that it may be wise to include the other awards as a short list under the table in that section on the year pages, though I would still focus on those that routinely covered. but I did want to pass this suggestion first. Masem (t) 20:51, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

One of the main reasons I added the NY Game Awards was because I noticed Metacritic using it on their GOTY Tracker, but the justification for those five main awards is more logical. The links that were converted into Internet Archive links were not dead, so DEADREF is not relevant, and PLRT is about an automatic process, not about editors converting working live links into tnternet Archive links. Neither of these are on target. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:51, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

DEADREF is also about preventing dead links, so it's relevant here. PLRT proves its prevalence and importance. See also WP:ARCHIVEEARLY. This is very standard procedure—I rarely see articles pass FA without archived URLs. If a link works, there's no reason to change it on the mere supposition that doing so is preventing a future dead link. Look at it this way, if all links were converted to Internet Archive links we'd be putting all our eggs in one basket, and if IA ever went belly-up, ALL of those links would be dead. If they were NOT converted, each separate source, i.e. The New York Times et al. would have to go bad to have the same effect. With multiple sources, there are multiple chances that the links will remain good.

When links go bad, they can be converted to IA links, but doing so when they're good does NOT help the project. Beyond My Ken (talk) 12:34, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

I agree with Rhain 100% here. Furthermore, when a still-working URL is archived, the URL status parameter of the cite template is set to "live" so that the main/actual source link still takes you to the original page, instead of the archive. Nathan Drake's relationships section

Hello there,

What are your thoughts on an added section talking about Drake's relationships over the course of the series? I've seen that many other video game character articles have this and why Drake's article doesn't have a section on this as I think it would be helpful for readers learning more about him and who he has worked with. If not intentional (as you admit) then it cannot possibly fit the definition of vandalism and so does not qualify for any of the exemptions. Regarding the block length, this was set because it is not the first block you have received for edit warring, so you should be fully aware of the policy. This was a new user who was acting in good faith - the kind of editor we would like to retain. You should be welcoming and supportive but instead you reverted 5 times. @MSGJ: You're right: I think my experience alone should prove that I'm fully aware of the policy, let alone my previous block; and, while I stand by fixing the template, the edit is more likely to fit this description than deliberate vandalism and I should not have labelled it as such. That article feels like a magnet for (actual, obvious) vandalism and disruption so I've clearly let its history cloud my judgement; instead of both demonstrating and assuming good faith, I've done the opposite and potentially driven away a good faith editor. One thing I need to keep in mind more is WP:THEREISNORUSH: obvious vandalism/copyvio aside, it's okay to direct an editor to a talk page instead of rushing to remove the content, whether it's constructive or not. I was able to locate a better photo and have updated the page with it. I agree that locating such a photo is/was difficult; It took me over an hour of digging to find a photo that was licensed under Creative Commons. In any case, I'm still glad you used the photo you did. A low-quality photo is better than no photo at all, and it's inclusion directly inspired the location of a more suitable photo. Re: Character Infoboxes

I've been trying to go through and standardize the character article infoboxes, given that we have far less to contend with now (about 600 total) and it's more manageable, based off standards from the other articles. Primarily focusing on details specific for a reader to understand a character at a glance. Stuff like family and significant others etc has been regarded as WP:CRUFT, while the infobox colors get responses of accessibility issues for colorblind users, moreso with editors just arbitrarily applying any color they feel fit to one. I'm aware of the reasoning, and appreciate your explanation. I agree that some infoboxes get filled with far too much trivial information (I've actively worked to trim several in the past), but I don't think it's all useless, hence my occasional partial reverts. Well how do you feel about the family/sigother/child/etc parameters at the very least? It's not such a problem on Abby and Niko for example, but it does become one on bigger character articles like it was here, and I'm concerned users will point at the outliers as arguments as to "why can't this article have these?" like kept coming up with Samus in the past when her's were cleaned out.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 05:53, 28 June 2023 (UTC)

I think it's entirely dependent on the character, and the information included. Blazkowicz is a good example of an infobox that took it too far (e.g. seven lines repeated "MachineGames" without actually clarifying what that means—and it's not really a necessary clarification anyway), so I think your removal of his occupation, relatives, and birthdate are logical. That being said, I think some of the information (namely his wife and daughters) is relevant and important, so I've restored those.

Personally, I prefer to focus on improving an article based on its own merits rather than worrying about another editor improperly using it as an example to justify their own edits—though, to your concern, I think articles like Abby and Niko would work to your advantage, since those are examples of using parameters selectively and only including information that is important to the character and article (rather than endlessly listing all possible occupations, nicknames, and relatives). – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 06:18, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
