Issue XIV — April 6, 2008

Project News

SummerSlam (2007) (link) has been nominated for Featured Article status.
Triple H has failed its Featured Article nomination. Its nom page can be found here.
List of WCW Hardcore Champions has passed its Featured list nomination; its nomination can be found here.
Backlash (2004) has been listed for Peer review. Please review these articles and make suggestions for how it can be improved in preparation for a Good article nomination. Its peer review can be found here.
Ion Croitoru, Jos LeDuc, New Year's Revolution (2007), No Way Out (2007), SummerSlam (2007), Unforgiven (2005), and WrestleMania X have been elevated to Good article status.
Brian Kendrick, Brock Lesnar, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Randy Orton, Stacy Keibler, and Vengeance (2005) are currently Good article candidates.

Current Events

At WrestleMania XXIV, Shawn Michaels defeated Ric Flair after executing the Sweet Chin Music, which as a result, meant that Ric Flair was forced to retire from professional wrestling. The next night, at Flair's retirement ceremony on Raw, Triple H congratulated Flair for his 35 year career, and brought out retired and current superstars to thank him. Michaels, and the whole WWE roster came out later to thank him as well.
The Undertaker defeated Edge to become the new World Heavyweight Champion forcing him to submit to the Gogoplata. During the pyro celebration for Undertaker's 16-0 streak, a freak accident occurred just before WrestleMania went off-air. During the pryo shooting to the entrance stage, a firework went to the upper-level section of the crowd on top. Forty-five fans were injured, and currently, WWE is trying to investigate what was the cause of the pyrotechnic malfunction
Cryme Tyme returned to WWE on March 31, during Raw, defeating Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch.
Matt Hardy also returned on Raw, attacking Randy Orton from behind, and later having a match with Orton.

Events

WWE has invited Democrats running for president, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, to Raw to settle their differences in a wrestling match. The invitation video can be found here.
On the April 21 edition of Raw, the King of the Ring tournament will return for one night only. The entire tournament will take place on Raw.
Mick Foley made a appearance in the new film, Anamorph.

Current Events

William Regal won the King of the Ring tournament on the April 21 edition of Raw.
Senators Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John McCain, made special appearance on Raw, via the titantron to address the Raw fans.
During Backlash, Triple H became the new WWE Champion by defeating Randy Orton.
Matt Hardy defeated MVP and became the new United States Champion.
The Undertaker had the World Heavyweight Championship taken from him on the May 2 episode of SmackDown!.

Backlash (2006), Backlash (2007), Insane Clown Posse, Judgment Day (2005), Judgment Day (2007), One Night Stand (2007), Royal Rumble (2005), Survivor Series (2005), The Great American Bash (2007), The Rock (entertainer) and Unforgiven (2006) are currently Good article candidates.

Current Events

Torrie Wilson was released by WWE on May 8.
L.A.X. won the vacated TNA World Tag Team Championship as a result of defeating Team 3D in the Deuces Wild tournament final at TNA Sacrifice.
- Also at TNA Sacrifice, Samoa Joe defeated Scott Steiner and Kaz to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
During WWE Backlash, Triple H, The Miz and John Morrison, and Mickie James retained the WWE Championship, WWE Tag Team Championship, and WWE Women's Championship, respectively.
