March 2018[edit]

Hello, I'm L293D. I noticed that in this edit to Nickelodeon Movies, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. L293D () 19:46, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Nickelodeon Movies, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Nickelodeon Movies, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. PCHS-NJROTC (Messages)Have a blessed day. 19:55, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I am pleased to see that you have now given an edit summary which gives some indication why you have been removing the content from the article. Thank you for that. Also, the reference given in the article as a citation for the content you removed does not look to me like a reliable source, so you may well be right to remove it. However, you refer to "the 2020 Movie Lists", but I have no idea what lists you are referring to, or where they are. That has two disadvantages: (1) it is impossible to check them, to see whether you are right, and (2) it is impossible to know whether the "lists" you refer to are reliable or not. It may be a good idea to post a more detailed explanation at Talk:Nickelodeon Movies, so that other editors can see whether you are right to remove the content from the article.
  • Also, you should be warned that repeatedly making the same edit after others have reverted it, known as "edit warring", is considered to be unhelpful, and editors who keep on doing that may be blocked from editing, even if they are convinced that their changes are valid. You can read a more detailed explanation of that at Wikipedia:Edit warring if you wish to.
  • One more point. You posted a message at User talk:L293D/About, which should have been at User talk:L293D. I have moved the message, as the editor might never have seen it where you posted it, as he or she would have had no reason to look for a page at that title. I see that someone has warned you about this already. I just wanted to say that the Nickelodeon Wiki is a fan edited website. According to Wikipedia's rules, fan edited websites are not sources. If you believe that "Nicktoons" is a fake movie, then you need a better source. Thank you! RugratsFan2003 (talk) 14:39, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I did block this account for edit-warring, but I thought again and decided to unblock it, because you appear to be acting in good faith and trying to do what is right. Before you edit the article again I strongly urge you to try discussing your concerns with the other editors involved. I know that you were told to describe your changes in edit summaries, and you are now doing that, but more than that is needed if you still wish to stick to what you have done after other editors have several times reverted your edits, showing that they disagree. You say that the film in question is a hoax, and as far as I know you may be right, but the fact that it's not listed in a wiki is not proof enough that it's a hoax, any more than the fact that it is listed in Wikipedia is proof that it isn't a hoax. Although I have lifted the block I placed this time, you may well be blocked and stay blocked for a longer time if you continue to edit-war.
