List of entertainers related to academics[edit]

A tag has been placed on List of entertainers related to academics, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how List of entertainers related to academics is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:List of entertainers related to academics saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions. Borat[edit]

My apologizes...in the future it would be best to cite sources like that. thank you, Ctjf83 talk 10:16, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Taman Shud[edit]

Hey there Your Majesty. The information about ongoing investigations on the case came from the Advertiser Article I cited. There was a retired detective who hopes to write a book about the case, as well as the odd psychic, code cracker and IT guru. I'd like to look into more as well but I don't think the case will be cracked until (if it is espionage relatd) the country in question admits to knowing Somerton Man. --Roisterer (talk) 20:54, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flags[edit]

Hi, and thank you for all your marvellous contributions. I thought I would let you know though that we do not use flag icons to symbolise people's places of birth and death. WP:MOSFLAG will tell you more on this. All the best, --John (talk) 21:31, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recreating deleted material[edit]

It appears that you have recreated List of Boratisms in your userspace (at User:QueenAdelaide/List of Boratisms), and it is (or rather, was) linked in the "see also" section of the article Borat. Please note that recreating deleted articles is not allowed without cause (or a deletion review), and the outcome of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Boratisms was quite clear-cut. I would ask that you place a {{db-userreq}} tag on the user-sub-page in question, to speedily resolve this issue. If not, I will be nominating it for deletion. Regards. --Cheeser1 (talk) 22:23, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi QueenAdelaide. Based on WP:CSD#G4, I've deleted the page. It has been there for 3 months, and has had no substantial improvement to address the issues raised in the AfD. Userfication is for bringing an article up to snuff, not protecting it from deletion. If you disagree, your next step would be to take this to WP:DRV. Or, if you think I'm wrong, feel free to discuss it with me. --barneca (talk) 00:01, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've dug this up on Talk:Borat, is this the list you want QueenAdleaide?

The "Boratan notes"! -

  • The film's portrayal of the people of Kazakhstan indicated that Kazakhstan is one of the most tolerant Central Asian nations because almost half its population is Russian, who are historically Orthodox, and its native Kazakhs are not particularly devoutly Muslim, usually mixing Islam with pagan rituals; the most radical Muslim elements belonging to the Uzbek population in the south.

No, borat and all of the Kazakhstanis are all hysterically anti-semetic, remember? Samanthamozes (talk) 23:34, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

or was it this-

Borat's Written Language/The Borat Code I just added this section. Here is some additional information which may or may not be appropriate for the article:

Some of the lowercase characters appear somewhat different from their uppercase counterparts because of the "italic" or cursive type used in the captions. This is nicely explained at Cyrillic alphabet#Letter-forms and typography. The captions at the beginning and end of each segment are not exact encodings of the diplayed English text. They decode as follows: ЗЩ ЛФЯФЛРЫЕФТЫЛЩЬГ ЕУДУМШЯЩКГ ("KAZAKHSTAN TELEVISION PRESENTS") decodes to PO KAZAKHSTANSKOMU TELEVIZORU ПШВ ИЩКФЕФ Л ФЬУКШЛШ ("BORAT'S GUIDE TO AMERICA") decodes to GID BORATA K AMERIKI © ЛФЯФЛ ЕУДУМШЫШЩТ (no English displayed) decodes to © KAZAK TELEVISION Are "PO KAZAKHSTANSKOMU TELEVIZORU" and "GID BORATA K AMERIKI" transliterations of a real language?

  • Also, is there any significance to the particular mapping used in this code, or is it random?

--Lph 21:40, 27 December 2005 (UTC) Answered my own question about the mapping: it is a Russian keyboard layout mapped onto the QWERTY layout. Will note this in the article. --Lph 22:57, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Image author problem with Image:Lord Cornbury2.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Lord Cornbury2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content; specifically who painted the picture and when, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jonathan Oldenbuck (talk) 17:03, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Frank Newman Speller, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://corrosion-doctors.org/Biographies/SpellerBio.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 13:32, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Frank Newman Speller[edit]

A tag has been placed on Frank Newman Speller requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ╟─TreasuryTagcontribs─╢ 13:33, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

May 2009[edit]

The recent edit you made has been reverted, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. ╟─TreasuryTagcontribs─╢ 13:37, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations[edit]

It looks as if at least a few of your early contributions were copyright violations. I just deleted Robert Gardelle for this reason, Israel Lyons was at one time tagged for copyvio and may need to be deleted as well, and I see that you had other articles with similar problems as well. Please help in removing any remaining copyright violations in your edits, and please make certain that you don't add any new ones. Fram (talk) 13:57, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
