Image:Lusophoneworld.JPG[edit]

Hello, I asked the deletion of Image:Lusophoneworld.JPG, because a new and better map is avalable on http://commons.wikimedia.org . See Image:Lusophoneworld.JPG, or the article Lusophone. You can write on the new one than this one was made from your work. yug

Lusophone world[edit]

For what I know, Brazil, Portugal are the 2 only "true" native portuguese speaker. I read all this in the article, and improvement were discuted in the talk page of the map (on wiki engliah or commons). I don't know more, and I don't speak portuguese. Map and legend can be improve to be more clear.Yug (talk) 16:23, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I thinking about the same problem for the last month, when it become clear that most of "war of edition" about maps (such as this about Portuguese) were because of the different understanding of "Portuguese speaker (country)", and "true native speaker".
I propose to make an article about this topic, talking about the different possible ways, and then taking a conclusion. I haven't enought academic knowledge about this, but I can put some good ideas about this, and others will be able crosscheck this.
For the moment, we can read "native speaker". They, we can work on and other article, or to improve this one with a clear conclusion-definition.

Hello there. Do you have a reference for this addition? Such references can only improve wikipedia's reliability, which is currently it's biggest criticism. thanks! --Merbabu 02:26, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean you found the information on other language wikipedias? Unfortunately Wikipedia cannot cite itself. If, however, these other language references have an external reference, why not use that? it's not obligatory to use English references only. --Merbabu 02:43, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That link you provided looks fine. I'll put it into the article for you. Nice work and cheers. --Merbabu 02:53, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Japanisation[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Japanisation, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Japanisation is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Japanisation, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi! Just wondering what your source is for the world map you've uploaded to the page 'Western Culture'. Just curious, hope you don't mind letting me know! Cheers Sthoma07 (talk) 02:30, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! The only alteration I did on the old version of the map is to Bosnia. I made the alteration according to DemoBIH2006aa.PNG based on Clash_of_Civilizations_map.png which is the old map. Qrfqr (talk) 15:47, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Laukkai[edit]

I'm just wondering why you replaced the shan-geo-stub template with burma-geo-stub in this edit. As far as I know, usually we use the most specific category/stub possible, which in this case is Shan State. But I wanted to check with you before reverting. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 18:31, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see—so the Kokang region is geographically within the same area as Shan State, but politically it's independent of it?
I'm just trying to get my bearings; I recently started the Kokang incident article and found that coverage of Burma issues on en-wiki has a lot of big holes, including this one (I had to do a lot of Google searching and reading articles on zh-wiki before I could find out where Kokang is).
By the way, Kokang incident is on the main page right now and will probably have a lot of traffic from vandals or POV-pushers, so I'll need all the help I can get from people who know a lot about Burma to help ensure accuracy and NPOV. If you're interested, feel free to add it to your watchlist. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 18:53, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for your remind. If you feel it appropriate, I think Laukkai can be listed under Shan State and Burma at the same time. Qrfqr (talk) 18:59, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds good. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:01, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Another question....do you know the geographical coordinates of Laukkai? It would be useful to add a locator/pushpin map to the article, using Template:Location map Burma and the {{Location map}} syntax, but I don't know the exact coordinates. (this is the most specific map I've found so far.) The Kokang article could also use a map to show where exactly SR-1 is. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:01, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Here's my attempt:
Laukkai is located in Myanmar
Laukkai
Laukkai
Laukkai (Myanmar)
How does that look? rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:21, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah that looks great. I didn't find the coordinates of Laukkai, I just found that of Kokang, which is 23°24'54N - 24°09'24N, 98°24'14E - 98°53'42E. Dunno if you read Chinese, here's an article: [1], and the article mentioned a place named 諸葛炮樓山(Zhugepaoloushan). In google maps, if you input 23.7 N, 98.7 E, you will see a place called 炮樓山(Paoloushan). I suspected that the two places are the same one. If so, you're looking at the map of the area around Kokang. Qrfqr (talk) 19:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's pretty much the same area that I found as well. There is no Laukkai on the map, but there is a Laukkaing, which I assume is more or less the same thing. I do read Chinese, and that article looks like an excellent resource for both the Kokang and Kokang people articles; thanks! rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:51, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No prob. Here's a page [2] with a photo and coordinates of Laukai/Laukkai. Another page with maps of Kokang in more detail. [3] Some pictures in this one. [4] Qrfqr (talk) 20:17, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Kokang incident" vs. "Kokang rebellion"[edit]

Do you have an opinion on Talk:Kokang rebellion#Name change? rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 05:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think at this stage a more neutral word such as incident would be more proper. Qrfqr (talk) 14:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry because I accidentally click to the revert button. You ignored my reason and YellowMonkey reason without a proper reason, is this a constructive edit?--AM (talk) 15:00, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Due to 3RR, I won't revert anymore today (notice: you had violated this policy by revert 4 times in one day). I still keep my point.--AM (talk) 14:58, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if my question is bothering you but I'm so sick of these Han Tu-related issues. (talk:Chua Bo De, talk:An Giang, talk:Ngô Dynasty).--AM (talk) 17:12, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

May 2010[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you.

  • Seriously, why aren't you providing an Edit Summary? To my surprise this isn't the first time I've asked you about this! Other editors have too! How about at least an acknowledgement you have read this request? --220.101.28.25 (talk) 11:11, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, I've read that. Thanks for reminding. Qrfqr (talk) 11:14, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for answering Qrfqr, I AGF but I don't hold out great hopes of seeing many edit summaries from you as you have rarely done them over the last 4 ¾ years! 6% for major edits! Please? All you have to say is 'expanding text', 'add reference', 'fix typo' or similar shorthand. See wp:Edit summary legend for a few common abbreviations.
You also missed a chance to revert some 'vandalism' on the May 2010 Sumatra earthquake article, see this [5]. Give it a go, vandal 'whacking' is fun! Regards, --220.101.28.25 (talk) 14:05, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article 1998 Ryukyu Islands earthquake has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Minor event with dubious notability. Title appears to have been made up by the article creator and any earthquake in Japan recording a maximum intensity of shindo 3 is incredibly minor.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. DAJF (talk) 06:52, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • I do not think that your reason for proposing deletion is convincing. Qrfqr (talk) 08:37, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An article that you have been involved in editing, 1998 Ryukyu Islands earthquake, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1998 Ryukyu Islands earthquake. Thank you.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. --DAJF (talk) 23:13, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1978 Miyagi earthquake[edit]

Hi Qrfqr, I started building an article on this earthquake when you added it to the list of 20th century earthquakes, but I see that you got there first. I've expanded it and converted the bare url refs, you should probably check whether my guesses as to the titles of some of those in japanese are anywhere near correct. I'm planning to nominate this at WP:DYK, unless you have any objections, with both of us credited as creators. Mikenorton (talk) 11:45, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Mikenorton, I can see that you have made a preparation on this article. Actually what you wrote took a good part of the current version of this article. You can be the sole creator. I just like adding articles of past earthquakes. Thanks for your offer. Qrfqr (talk) 13:05, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'll add you anyway, you won't need to do anything, just accept that DYK credit when it comes your way - you can always delete it. Mikenorton (talk) 16:02, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus and blind reverting[edit]

On Wikipedia, working towards consensus means working toward a version that is acceptable to all parties. Blind reverting someone because you prefer your wording does not in any way further the process. Instead of just reverting my changes you should start from there and work back in the smell if you really think it is that important (but seriously, what else are a pile of dead nbodies going to smell like. Just because one article out of 2000 on the subject mentioned they stink doesn't mean we have to.) Insisting you are right and reverting over and over again is not appropriate, you don't OWN the article and anyone is absolutely free to edit your text if they don't like it (just as you are free to EDIT mine - what you are not free to do is edit war because you want your wording preserved. --ThaddeusB (talk) 03:51, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons why I didn't agree with some of your edits are given in article talk page. I just want to remind you, while I added something again and again and again, don't forget who's the one who insisted in deleting it again and again and again (and started it). Qrfqr (talk) 13:01, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 1943 Central Java earthquake, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 1943 Central Java earthquakes. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot (talk) 15:21, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The page of the ABC newspaper was originally listed as 17, but there was not any earthquake-related material on that page, and that's why I looked on some of the other pages in that day's edition. I found, on page 15 (this would be nine days after the mainshock) some material. Is that the page that you're referring to? If it is, that should be changed in the article. Proposed deletion of 2009 Fiji earthquake[edit]

The article 2009 Fiji earthquake has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No damage, injuries, or deaths. This appears to have been a non-event. This is not surprising. In the twentieth-century alone, there have been seven M7 or greater events near Fiji. None were significant.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Chingdrol Dolma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
