Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Geoff Wilson (American Entrepreneur), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://geoffwilson.com/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Speedy deletion nomination of Geoff Wilson (American Entrepreneur)[edit]

Hello Peter352,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Geoff Wilson (American Entrepreneur) for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. {C  A S U K I T E  T} 16:46, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest concern[edit]

Hi, Peter. I noticed your recent contributions and have concerns that your editing violates our editing guidelines. In particular, all your editing to date seems to revolve around your 352 company, which would make your account what we call a "Single-purpose account" (SPA). There is nothing necessarily wrong with single-purpose accounts but very often they indicate that an editor is unaware of or ignoring the editing guidelines of Wikipedia and tend to attract extra scrutiny from other editors for that reason. The plagiarism warning you received about the Geoff Wilson (American Entrepreneur) article and your lack of edit summaries indicates that you may be insufficiently familiar with the norms of editing. To save yourself grief and effort, I highly recommend you read the introductory material in the Welcome message recently posted (above) on your talk page. Further, SPA's often violate the principle of neutrality due to a conflict of interest (COI). This includes activities such as creating articles or adding information about topics which do not pass the notability guidelines. The write-ups Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with close associations would be very valuable for you to read. Generally, it is recommended that editors do not edit articles in which they have a personal stake. Doing otherwise is delicate balance and often causes a lot of frustration. Lastly, your username itself may violate our account-naming policy because it includes your company's name.

I can offer some suggestions. If you wish to edit an existing article for which you may have a COI, make an "edit request" by first suggesting any changes on the article's talk page and allowing another third-party editor to evaluate and make the changes. If you wish to create an article, follow the steps given at Wikipedia:Requested articles. Lastly, always be as upfront as possible about your connection to the topic. Editors helping you will feel aggravated if mislead. Jason Quinn (talk) 03:27, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on New American Funding requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. September 2014[edit]

Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses. Wikipedia is not the Yellow pages. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. A year ago today I politely explained to you that your editing was likely a conflict of interest and gave you some advice for how to edit if so. You never responded to me (or communicated with anybody at all since you've joined) and have ignored that advice. I also posted some policies and guidelines for you to read. You either haven't done that or have chosen to ignore them. It is abundantly clear from your editing history that you are not here to build an encyclopaedia but are here for promotional purposes revolving around this "352" company. Your account is clearly what we call a single-purpose account with a conflict of interest. Your user name is also promotional and since you have engaged in no other substantial activity except promotional editing, you are in violation of our policy against advertising. As you are in clear violation of our editing policies and you show a long term pattern of adding disruptive adversing to the encyclopaedia, I shall be blocking this account indefinitely. I would have offered you advice if you had followed-up on my previous comments. Please do not waste time by creating a new account to continue with the same editing behaviour, we call this "sock puppetry" and those accounts will be quickly blocked as well. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abuse of editing privileges. 2nd chance[edit]

This request for unblocking has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:

  • Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
  • Read our guide to improving articles
  • Pick any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
  • Click the Edit tab at the top of that article and scroll down past the message informing you of your block.
  • Copy the source of that article and paste it to the bottom of your talk page under a new top-level heading (like this: = [[Article title]] =) and save the page before you improve it.
  • Propose some significant and well researched improvements to your article by editing your personal copy of the article. Please note that we are not looking for basic typo corrections, or small unreferenced additions; your edits should be substantial, and reflect relevant policies.
  • When you are done with your work, re-request unblocking and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
    • If we (including the original blocking admin) are convinced that your proposed edits will improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.

If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "{{Help me|your question here ~~~~}}" to your talk page. Thank you. King of ♠ 02:08, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
