talk pages[edit]

Hello Peneon--You can edit Wikipedia pretty freely, but the trick is to do so collaboratively with others. If others disagree with you, there's a few things you can do. One is to get into a "revert war" where you and the other editor keep switching back and forth between your preferred versions. This is obviously not helpful, and there's even some rules to stop it (wp:3rr). Another is to go to the "talk page" to try to find consensus about the changes. You get to the talk page by clicking the "discussion" tab. You can then edit the talk page like any other page. It's usually appropriate to click on "new section" to create a new section of the page at the bottom. You can then explain why your change is a good one, and see about coming to agreement with other editors. Cretog8 (talk) 20:48, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Economy[edit]

Hello Peneon--I'm newish to Wikipedia myself, I've only been genuinely active since April. So, I have advice, but it's up to you to judge how good it is. My advice is that I think you've jumped in too fast. Your first edits are contentious changes to the lead of an article. Regardless of the merits of your changes, I know I would find the argument over them to be stressful and a frustrating introduction to being a Wikipedia editor.

So, my suggestion is to find something or somethings to work on which is less contentious. I don't have any particular advice on what that would be, because I don't know your interests. You could follow various links from articles you're interested in until you find something which needs work. You could find a Wikiproject in an area of interest and see about helping there. There are three Wikiprojects listed at the top of the Economy page you might be interested in.

You could also use the "Recent changes" link on the left to look for what other editors are up to. If nothing else, you'll find plenty of foolish vandalism which needs reverting. You'll also be able to see what kinds of edits cause arguments and what don't.

Anyway, my advice is to work your way into Wikipedia editing a little more slowly so as to avoid burning yourself out immediately. If you don't think you're burning yourself out, then this advice might be irrelevant. Cretog8 (talk) 23:58, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Economy. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. -FrankTobia (talk) 03:08, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
