TFAR

I proposed Walter de Coutances as TFA on 16 Nov, presenting a simple subset of the lead, - please polish ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:33, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

You'd be better off asking User:Ealdgyth to do that. Parrot of Doom 15:31, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I will ;) - nice to see today's, even if the date seems kind of wrong ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:07, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
My preference was for the 8th, but I'm glad that some people might learn that Guy Fawkes wasn't the only person involved. From reading various Guy Fawkes articles in the news today (to see if I can't find anything relevant to add), you'd think that reporters just makes things up as they go... Parrot of Doom 18:25, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
How dare they! That's Wikipedia's job! (FAs excepted, of course...) BencherliteTalk 18:27, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Commons

Hi POD. I just wanted to let you know that I've made you autopatrolled on Commons. If there's ever anything I can help you with over there, let me know. INeverCry 16:51, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm not sure what autopatrolled means but thanks anyway. Parrot of Doom 18:23, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
It's really just an acknowledgement that you're a trusted user. It makes it so patrollers don't have to look at your edits. INeverCry 19:06, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Your photography skills would be useful

I've been beavering away over the last couple of weeks trying to save List of tallest buildings and structures in Salford from being delisted. I had a break-through earlier today when I received an email from the Peel Group confirming what I'd already suspected, that the Blue Tower in MediaCityUK is now the tallest structure in Salford. But we don't have a picture of it. I'm imagining that MediaCityUK might be somewhere you visit fairly regularly? If so, would it be possible for you take a pic of the Blue Tower next time you're in the area? Malleus Fatuorum 17:06, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't get to visit Mediacity that often, it seems that although lots of BBC folk work there, none of them are actually making programmes. But I'd be happy to get a photograph or two for you when the weather suits. Parrot of Doom 17:29, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
That would be great, thanks. Malleus Fatuorum 17:43, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Add caption here
Best I can do for now. It's a fairly featureless building, I presume this is the "front". Trouble is, the best shot would be from across the canal, but there's no public access there. I'd have stood further back but behind the photograph is a big cordoned-off wasteland where presumably something else will be built. There's a shot of it in the main plaza but it's of the side of the tower and doesn't say a lot. Maybe there's a shot from the north somewhere, but it'd probably require getting on someone's roof. Parrot of Doom 15:59, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
That'll do nicely, thanks. It just looked odd not to have a picture of Salford's tallest building in a list of tallest buildings in Salford. Malleus Fatuorum 16:52, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

JSTOR

Hi there. You're one of the first 100 people to sign up for a free JSTOR account via the requests page. We're ready to start handing out accounts, if you'd still like one.

JSTOR will provide you access via an email invitation, so to get your account, please email me (swalling@wikimedia.org) with...

  • the subject line "JSTOR"
  • your English Wikipedia username
  • your preferred email address for a JSTOR account

The above information will be given to JSTOR to provide you with your account, but will otherwise remain private. Please do so by November 30th or drop me a message to say you don't want/need an account any longer. If you don't meet that deadline, we will assume you have lost interest, and will provide an account to the next person in the rather long waitlist.

Thank you! Steven Walling (WMF) • talk 21:03, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

cool, this should be very useful. Thanks! Parrot of Doom 21:17, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Wow, lucky boy! I'll more than likely be banging on your door asking for some article or other quite often in the future. As well as photographs and other stuff of course. ;-) Malleus Fatuorum 21:24, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
You can bang on mine also ... hopefully shortly! Ealdgyth - Talk 21:25, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
That's very generous of you Ealdgyth. I know how busy you've been lately, but I miss our medieval bishop collaborations. I managed to get Questia and HighBeam access earlier this year, and for some categories of articles they're an absolute God-send. I would have had no chance of getting The Coral Island to GA without them for instance. Malleus Fatuorum 21:33, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

RE:Pink Floyd changes

See Template:Infobox album#Chronology. "In general, all albums and EPs should be placed in a single, chronological chain in order of release date" yeepsi (Time for a chat?) 19:02, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

So discuss it first at the PF wikiproject. Don't just plough through a load of steady articles making undiscussed changes based on obscure guidelines written by god knows who. Parrot of Doom 19:03, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

I apologize

Greetings Parrot of Doom. I apologize for the erroneous edit I made to your talk page. I did want to invite you to consider answering the civility questionnaire located here. I hope it is something you will decide to do. But first I have to add it to your page. This time I made sure. Sincerely, My76Strat (talk) 17:22, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

I commented on that over a year ago. Parrot of Doom 17:40, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
I remember seeing you participate. That is why I wanted to message you. If your answers are not on the questionnaire, and your name not included in this category, Category:Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Civility enforcement/Questions they will not be properly considered. It's worthwhile to consider, IMO. And I thank you for considering it. Cheers, My76Strat (talk) 18:26, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
What questionnaire? Parrot of Doom 19:51, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Try this PoD Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Civility enforcement/Questionnaire. J3Mrs (talk) 19:59, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, I'm not wasting my time with that. It'll just descend into a long boring argument following which, nothing will happen. Parrot of Doom 22:03, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
