Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! In response to your feedback[edit]

Hi Orioncaspar, and thanks for leaving feedback. I'm sorry you're having trouble with editing - if it's any consolation, we've all been there! You might find it helpful to take the tutorial, which will give you an oversight of basic editing procedures. It's also handy to have the cheatsheet on hand for a list of basic markup commands.

If you need any help, feel free to leave me a message or ask at the helpdesk.

I would suggest going to the gadget section in your preferences, and adding some tools that will make the interface less confusing. Personally I recommend using AutoEd.

April 2012[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Sholay, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place "{{helpme}}" on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Sholay was changed by Orioncaspar (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.892343 on 2012-04-12T17:39:44+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 17:39, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your feedback[edit]

ClueBot NG is a bot that removes possible vandalism. Your submission contained foreign language and repetitive characters and ClueBot removed it as possible vandalism. The contribution was non-notable and unsourced, is there news coverage that supports the "popularity" claim?

No I'm not Indian and that shouldn't matter, there are other Indian contributors here that support using sources. I asked for proof for the sentence that claimed those quotes are frequently used, I never said the quotes themselves were fabricated. Those claims should be sourced to be verified. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on HackShark Linux requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Keφr (talk) 16:00, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have declined the speedy deletion nomination, but it would be good if you could provide at least a few sentences of actual text for this article or it most likely will end up being deleted through one of our other deletion processes. If you have an idea for an article but are not ready to flesh it out so that it is presentable as a proper article it is a good idea to create a user subpage draft first. This gives you time to work on it with a greatly reduced risk of deletion, and it can be easily moved into article space when it is ready. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:17, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article HackShark Linux has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No significant coverage in reliable sources independent of topic — notability of topic is not established.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talktrack) 09:39, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand the exact reason for the article deletion. I created an article. Wikipedia asks for authentic sources as reference, right? I mentioned the official website link, http://hackshark.com/linux/ as the reference for the tools, applications, features etc. where possible. I mentioned http://sourceforge.net/ as an authentic reference for the release dates. I even mentioned the external links to strengthen the references. If there is a problem, then please notify me the exact area. -- Orion Caspar

Wikipedia asks for demonstration of notability with reliable sources independent from topic. Your sources are primary, and I couldn't find secondary, reliable sources. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talktrack) 10:46, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, you are right. Please visit these links, and let me know if they are applicable as references or not. The links are:

It may look like a bit annoying, but please let me know if these links are eligible as references. I found them by googling. There are many more links like this. On my behalf, I would like to request you to check it yourself. -- Orion Caspar

I've seen these. They are forums and blogs, so they fail WP:SPS. Better sources are needed. BTW you might want to stack them at article's talk page or in the article's references section, so that other editors reviewing proposed deletion (normally several editors do that) could consider them – I'm not the ultimate authority here. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talktrack) 11:21, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's a very good suggestion you made me. HackShark Linux isn't much popular yet like other distros. I believe, Wikipedia is a very strong media to promote something. As HackShark Linux is a open source product, so we cannot promote it by any kind of paid advertising. However, as per your suggestion, I added those links as the references as well as the article's talk page. Hope, the article is saved. Thank you. -- Orion Caspar

Replaceable fair use File:Audrey Napoleon, cover photo of 2012 music album 'Ornamental Egos'.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Audrey Napoleon, cover photo of 2012 music album 'Ornamental Egos'.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 13:28, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the guidance, I did as according to your suggestion. Please check. Thanks. Orion Caspar 21:56, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:HackShark Linux[edit]

Hello, Orioncaspar. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "HackShark Linux".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. — JJMC89(T·C) 19:05, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
