Template:Infobox musician awards

Hi Oluwa2Chainz. I just learned this few minutes ago. Wins also count as nominations. The Infobox musician awards template you've added to every article created/edited needs to be updated. I am going to start correcting the ones I've added as quickly as possible.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 04:59, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Thanks for pointing that out Versace1608. I have thought about it before now but I was not really sure about it. The Simi page has been updated. Regards! —Oluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 08:04, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

Information icon Hello Oluwa2Chainz. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that you shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Batu Villages. It is also suggested that pages that might meet CSD A7 criteria not be tagged for deletion immediately after they are created. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks..

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Oluwa2Chainz, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! MusikAnimal talk 01:04, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi Oluwa2Chainz. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 11:36, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Wizkid (musician)

Greetings Oluwa2Chainz, what I'm about to say is really minor. Few weeks ago, you added info about Billboard's Twitter Real-Time chart to the Wizkid article. According to WP:BADCHARTS, the Billboard's Twitter Real-Time chart isn't notable because it is considered a single vendor chart. Please removed the info and just include a mention of the song's Hot 100 debut and peak position. Thanks in advance.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 22:46, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

IP block exempt

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this userright to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked (through the use of CheckUser) periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Miniapolis 14:13, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

@Bello96: Oluwa2Chainz did the right thing by reverting Nonso Nde's edit. Per WP:CITEKILL, editors should refrain from adding too many footnotes to an article. No one has the right to claim ownership of any article in this encyclopedia. We all can edit as we see fit. As for User:Nonso Nde, he might be a sock puppet of another user who was blocked previously. If I report this user at WP:SPI, I will need evidence to support my report. I am going to monitor the user's edit patterns before I report them.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 21:52, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

22 SAMA Awards

Hi Oluwa2Chainz (talk · contribs), I see you reverted my started changes. The previous article follows a specific format, matching the Grammy and BRIT awards standard. Can you please tell me your reasoning behind the reverted changes? - That Video Shop Guy (talk) 14:24, 6 June 2016 (UTC)

That Video Shop Guy, thanks for reaching out. Kindly note that movie titles are always in italics. Another reason why your edit was reverted was because there were too many redlinks. Regards. —Oluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 14:34, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
Oluwa2Chainz, thanks for the swift response. I feel redlinks encourage people more to write articles, but I know its a faux pas to some editors. As for your structure, I was trying to match the previous article on the SAMAs. I've been going through more BRIT and Grammy awards, there is a mismatch. They feature different styles:
  • Artist - Album
  • Album - Artist
  • Artist - "Album"
Can we agree on a style? I personally prefer option three, but I would be able to live with option one.
@That Video Shop Guy:, I do not think its compulsory all award ceremonies must meet a particular style. For example:
  • Best Pop Album Award will be XYZ - ABC, not "XYZ" - ABC
  • Best Newcomer will be ABC - XYZOluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 15:29, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
@Oluwa2Chainz: I think that there needs to be a uniform style across an individual ceremony (case and point the Oscars). I see the logic behind your structure, just the readability for me. The album is the reason for a newcomer album, so why switch it around? Besides the fact that the winners are announced Artist - Album (so are the press releases). Also your feelings on red links, isn't it better to have bookmarks for people to start from?
That Video Shop Guy I can see you've changed the structure to a more standard type. Thanks and happy editing. —Oluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 12:25, 7 June 2016 (UTC)

Barihi Adetunji

I'm not sure how you thought Barihi Adetunji made "no credible claim of significance or importance", given that the page goes on at great length about his significance. WP:CSD#A7 is only for pages which don't indicate the subject's significance, not for articles which you personally feel are poorly written or for which you consider the references are inadequate. ‑ Iridescent 16:33, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Anthony Babafemi Raji shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Replaceable fair use File:Uju Marshall photo session for Orange Culture.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Uju Marshall photo session for Orange Culture.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 12:21, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:SAMAS2016 logo.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:35, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

May 2017 WikiCup newsletter

The second round of the competition has now closed, with just under 100 points being required to qualify for round 3. YellowEvan just scraped into the next round with 98 points but we have to say goodbye to the thirty or so competitors who didn't achieve this threshold; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, led the field with five featured articles, four on birds and one on astronomy, and a total score of 2049, half of which came from bonus points.
  • Japan 1989 was in second place with 826 points, 466 of which were bonus points. 1989 has claimed points mostly relating to anime and Japanese-related articles.
  • South Australia Peacemaker67 took third place with two FAs, one GA and seven GARs, mostly on naval vessels or military personnel, scoring 543 points.
  • Other contestants who scored over 400 points were Freikorp, Carbrera, and Czar. Of course all these points are now wiped out and the 32 remaining contestants start again from zero in round 3.

Vivvt submitted the largest number of DYKs (30), and MBlaze Lightning achieved 13 articles at ITN. Carbrera claimed for 11 GAs and Argento Surfer performed the most GARs, having reviewed 11. So far we have achieved 38 featured articles and a splendid 132 good articles. Commendably, 279 GARs have been achieved so far, more than double the number of GAs.

So, on to the third round. Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points equally.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. GEE JAY'S Article

As regards to Gee Jay new article, i would like to refer to a famous musician like Bob Marley, who never won a single award, his notability was based on his Viral work, subsequently before his rastafari movement stories, i will also refer to a viral artist like Bello Figo who originated hip hip swag and provoked a country with over 7 million views per youtube videos

(NEWS:https://www.google.it/search?q=Bello+figo&source=lnms&tbm=nws&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi2oO-N1dbTAhUGJMAKHS1BCO0Q_AUIDCgD&biw=1242&bih=545)

Bello figo (Videos: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheGucciboy1992) Which i intend writing as my next article, he is extra notable, just like a country of 160 million citizens recognize P-SQUARE and the remix of Gee Jay, In Nigeria precisely where i was born, no musicians does cover of any notable artists, but Gee Jay also started cover songs, i remember Africans do cover EU or Ameriican musicians, that of Gee Jay was a plus, each viral video has over 20,000 views minmum, I hereby appeal to allow the article stay, because she is notable to millions of Nigerians, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TajuAyinde (talkcontribs) 16:56, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello 3!13, your article fails Wikipedia's notability guideline hence its deletion. Kindly refer to this topic if you intend creating notable articles.

Artwork for Mad Over You

Greetings Oluwa2Chainz. I created an article about Runtown's "Mad Over You" single. I am having a difficult time selecting the proper artwork to upload to Wikipedia. Several Nigerian music outlets used the artwork with the black background, while platforms like SoundCloud and iTunes uploaded the artwork with the red background. I don't know which of the artwork is more popular, but I am of the opinion that the red one should be uploaded to Wikipedia. I'd appreciate your input, thanks.  Versace1608  Wanna Talk? 01:17, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Chika Ibeneme deletion

Hi,

I just got the mail on the deletion of this page. The articles that mentioned her did so on roles she played which if they were false wouldn't have multiple articles supporting those claims. Some of the references came from reputable media platforms like premiumtimes.

Kindly advise, is there any modifications that can be made to the page to retain it?

Kind Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by Whosmeks (talkcontribs) 14:58, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello Oluwa2Chainz,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 813 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

WikiCup 2018 May newsletter

The second round of the 2018 WikiCup has now finished. Most contestants who advanced to the next round scored upwards of 100 points, but two with just 10 points managed to scrape through into round 3. Our top scorers in the last round were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber, our winner in 2016, with three featured articles
  • Republic of Texas Iazyges, with nine good articles and lots of bonus points
  • India Yashthepunisher, a first time contestant, with two featured lists
  • Cascadia (independence movement) SounderBruce, a finalist last year, with seventeen good topic articles
  • United States Usernameunique, a first time contestant, with fourteen DYKs
  • San Francisco Muboshgu, a seasoned competitor, with three ITNs and
  • South Carolina Courcelles, another first time contestant, with twenty-seven GARs

So far contestants have achieved twelve featured articles between them and a splendid 124 good articles. Commendably, 326 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2018 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met; most of the GARs are fine, but a few have been a bit skimpy.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
