The United States Army has never classified their rifles as assault rifles. This is an inaccurate classification placed on these weapon systems. I corrected the article to what the United States Army uses as the titles of the weapons. To call my correction vandalism is wrong to say the least. Oc111e (talk) 19:28, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

To name just one instance, the 2010 US Army Combat Studies Institute uses the term "M4 assault rifles", as do the other plethora of sources within the article. Assault rifle is the standard military term for this type of rifle, and has been for decades. Loafiewa (talk) 19:35, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

First, you classified my edits as vandalism which is a wholly inaccurate description of my edit. I simply corrected the term.

To your point of the Army Combat Studies institute referring to these rifles as assault rifles, is not correct, as the manuals for these weapon systems refer to M4 carbine rifles, also cited by the same reference you refer to for decades as well. Oc111e (talk) 19:41, 30 November 2022 (UTC)

March 2024

Hi Oc111e! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Fort Nash that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism.
