RE: Request to restore Astyplaz (band)article[edit]

I've restored the article. It was only deleted because another editor felt that it did not meet our inclusion guidelines. The reason for this can be found in the articles deletion log. Anyhow, the Proposed Deletion policy allows for article recreation at request, so doing so was not a problem. Please note that the article could still be deleted via another avenue such as Articles for Deletion, so I'd encourage you to work on improving the article, as necessary. October 2008[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Rjd0060 (talk) 19:18, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking at this article. At the moment, the band does not seem to meet notability requirements at WP:MUSIC. I know it was recently restored, so I'm pausing to give you a bit of time to establish notability in the article before I send it to Articles for Deletion. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 20:34, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You indicate this image is your work, yet [1] claims it is "Copyright (C) 1996-2008 Avopolis Network. All Rights Reserved." Can you explain? - Mdsummermsw (talk) 18:25, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, I'd like to thank you for your interest about my article!
The copyright that you have mentioned has nothing to do with the photo, but refers to the interview in the specific on-line magazine. This particular picture has been used in other interviews of the band, too. The copyright belongs to the band and I took it from this address [2], under band permission. If there is any doubt, you can get in touch with the band yourself.
Astyplaz have been informed adout these proceedings on wikipedia concerning the page I have created (deletion, vandalism etc).

Tom Forbes (aka New York Boy)

If "the copyright belongs to the band", the licensing info you gave at Image:Astyplazgun1.jpg is incorrect. It currently claims that you are the copyright holder of the work and that you are publishing it under a GNU Free Documentation License. You do not have that right. Please correct the information.
Given that the image is, per your claim, copyrighted, we would only be able to use the image under "fair use". In general, we only use photos in this way when the usage cannot be replaced by a free photo. This would apply in some cases: album covers (in articles about the album), photos of dead individuals (in articles about that individual), images of fictional characters (in articles about that character), etc.
In the case of a band made up of living individuals, it is presumed that the image could be replaced by a free image of the band by taking a photo of the band (though that might or might not be difficult).
If the band wishes to release the photo under GNU, they may do so. If they have not, we cannot use the photo. - Mdsummermsw (talk) 13:04, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with File:Bi.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Bi.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
