AfDs!

Just in case anyone was wondering, in the week that I was gone I can see some of the articles I usually watch went to crap. However, I'm now on the case again! I've also put up some pages for deletion. Check out the articles, Deathlike Silence (band) and Em Sinfonia please and take a vote on whether the articles deserve to be kept or deleted. I also have to go about AfD'ing viking rock when I get a chance. Thanks. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:09, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Now also put up Mar de Grises for deletion. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 22:28, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: My Behavoir that day

Yes, I know it was a bit awful.

I read Aristophanes earlier that day and was taking the piss out of the wikipedia system and taking the piss out of that dork there.

I don't really care about this wikipedia anyhow. I can make another one, and change my IP address (also I use my college computer and they cannot trace the network anyhow there) so I am alright.

)

Least you care :)

Regards

PS I probably won't do that again. just pisses me off wikipedia sometimes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by METALFREAK04 (talkcontribs) 10:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

No productive solution ever came of any discussions other than the, more than reasonable, suggestion that if there were only 2 then a br was fine but if there were 3 or more then a comma was good. It was a solution that could satisfy both ranks equally and made plenty of sense. It was a forgotten suggestion until lo and behold I saw two editors, who had never been a part of the original discussion talking about the exact same topic and solution. It makes sense. It keeps everyone happy (unless they are whiny babies) And it lays a mature compromise down that everyone can follow and Wiki can finally move on. Grow up and start working towards the positive. If you want to be blocked that can probably happen of your own doing and not mine. Just get with the times and move on. 156.34.211.166 (talk) 22:00, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Re:

I only edit from 142.162. 142.166 isn't me. What prevents you from believing me? Me doing the right thing and adding commas?

142.162.196.92 (talk) 23:27, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Why didn't you answer the first question? Why should there be four spaces for a genre, when commas can just be used? If there's like 6 genres, why should it be 6 lines?

142.162.196.92 (talk) 23:43, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, fine, I'm a sock puppet. There you have it. Everyone already knew. Go ahead and report me. "PWN sum 'n00bs,'" "Mr.Encyclopedic." And no edit wars are going to start.. nobody's going to keep reverting it, except maybe you. As for "choppy genres," you're right that it does look bad. But, how about switching the genres around, so it's not "choppy?"

ie:

Melodic death metal, black metal, thrash
metal

to---->

Melodic death metal, thrash metal,
black metal

142.162.196.92 (talk) 00:05, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

I clicked "KISS" and it says nothing about switching genres around.

142.162.202.214 (talk) 01:46, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh. Doesn't say anything about genres, but I agree with you now.

Well, I appreciate that. Thank you. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:47, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Wow, your really ignorant are you?

Insulting me just because you think your always right?

So I gave an example of Dimmu Borgir and that must mean i'm a Dimmu Borgir fan, I suppose if I gave an example of Emperor or Burzum that I would have to be a fan of Emperor or Burzum. Once again, your opinion is not fact.

Last time I checked a genre existed called blackened death metal.

I'm not surprised that you would think this as your past has proven that you think that your right.

I'm laughing at you so hard now, because you have no idea what you are talking about. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 17:01, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Re: Hello, wikifriend

Hi,

Yeah, I am/was working on some code. The purpose of my script is to format the infobox the way I want it to be formatted (the view is only changed temporarily). Genre's, label's and associated acts are changed to line break separated lay out. On some occasions it's still a bit buggy but I must say I'm pretty happy about it. Maybe you'd want to test it for a while. I have plenty more ideas to extend the script's functionality (adding show/hide buttons, more tweakable layout, improve performance, etc.). When the lay out imposing cartel is not willing to leave the genres alone, we need to come up with other solutions. Cheers! Kameejl (Talk) 13:40, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, how are you? I've finished my script. It works great for me but I'd like to make it more dynamic so other people could use it for their specific lay-out preferences. What would you consider to be the perfect lay-out?
Would you want to change all commas into line breaks? Only in group_or_band or also in other artist infoboxes?
The script I've made now enables one to change commas to line breaks for every field individually (Origin, Former members, and all others). For e.g. the genre field there is a special routine that changes the first character to upper case, the rest is changed to lower case (HaRdcore PuNK -> Hardcore punk).
My view of the perfect lay-out is to have Alias (unchanged capitals), Genre (capitalized), Years active, Labels (unchanged capitals) and Associated acts (unchanged capitals) line break separated. This lay-out is focused on band infoboxes. For non-band infoboxes, I'm still not sure if I want Occupation and Instrument(s) to be line break separated, but if they are they should be capitalized. It's all possible now.
How would you format the infoboxes of bands/artists?
Cheers! Kameejl (Talk) 10:07, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm fine thanks! You see, the script I wrote is not gonna change any content, it is only changing the way the content is presented. You'll see line breaks but the source will contain commas (or line breaks, you won't be able to tell). I would prefer to change the content but like you said, it will start edit wars and I don't want that. So, I wrote a script that does the next best thing: change the way I see the infobox. Look at the following processed infoboxes. Kameejl (Talk) 07:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Warning for 3RR

You currently appear to be engaged in edit wars on Megadeth, Voivod (band) and Symphony X. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. For Funeral, 156 IP man and Twsx

How ironic. Yes, you got me blocked shortly for "edit warring" on those three pages. How ironic, though, that the 156 IP man actually coerced (WP:CANVASS) another IP (who admitted he was a sockpuppet and 156 IP man KNEW this) into edit warring with me over genre delimiters, but now look above on my talk page. HAHAHAHA!!! I didn't even mean to, but I talked with that IP address and we argued over comma breaks vs. line breaks and I actually convinced him that line breaks were better!!!!! LMAO! Take a look here. Absolutely hilarious. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 20:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

RandySavageFTW (talk) 21:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

WHOA, no dude! I'm sorry you took it that way but I'm not laughing at YOU. I'm laughing at THEM. The 156 IP man convinced you to war against me and it ended up you agreed with me. I'm not laughing at you in the slightest. Sorry for the misunderstanding, though. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:37, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Um...k. Hilarious.

RandySavageFTW (talk) 21:41, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

68.102X IP

Ja, good catch. I blocked him for a week. There's been a couple of 68's making mass genre changes and I've been blocking all of them for weeks at a time. Keep an eye for that sort of thing in the future as he'll no doubt switch IP's. Keep up the good work, Daniel. ScarianCall me Pat 23:32, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Celtic Frost

STOP changing their genre to heavy metal you dumb ass. They are black thrash metal and thats final. They are NOT heavy metal. JUDAS PRIEST is Heavy Metal. Ozzy is heavy metal. You need to learn your subgenres —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.81.95.102 (talk) 00:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Morbid Saint

Hey, that is cool that you like the Morbid Saint album - I produced it in the late 80s. Hope you're well,A Sniper 22:41, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

yes indeed (by the way: I edited the name disclosure out of your message at my talk page, for the sake of discretion). I have always loved Spectrum of Death and I'm happy there will be another re-issue soon. It is so hard to believe it was almost 20 years ago that we did that. Glad to know people like it in 2008. I think, compared to some of the thin, clicky drums of that period, that Lee's drums sound like booming cannons. Anyway, all the best. A Sniper 23:00, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Death metal

Ok. For me early black metal or first wave is a big bullshit! Those critics are making only a big confusion (years ago groups such as Venom and Celtic Frost were considered simply heavy metal and, at least, thrash metal). I disagree but sources are sources. Cheers! --Born Again 83 (talk) 22:55, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Define Deep Purple, UFO and Led Zeppelin heavy metal is another big crap! When I started to listen to heavy metal, those bands were considered only hard rock, now also heavy metal. I disagree because IMHO they aren't like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden or Raven, they are musically softer than them. Metal is going to be an headache with those labels! Nevermind. Bye! --Born Again 83 (talk) 11:34, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Greetings

Given the circumstances, I will pretty much have to; You have amassed a huge summary of incivilities, disregards for policy and other none-too-beatiful things over only the past few months. Other experienced users who look into your history will find that too. It is, though, despite what you seem to think, nothing personal. I don't waste time thinking about my personal preferences over how much I seem to "like" an editor — I let actions speak. If I find you to be doing great work around here (which you are more that capable of doing, you have shown that, too) without all the "bad" stuff over an amount of time, I will be glad to promote you in a future RFA. ~ twsx | talkcont | ~ 06:37, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Arisedrink blanking pages

After you told Arisedrink that you reported him he blanked the page [2] (this is the last edit he has ever made so far). Could that be seen as a bad faith effort as well? WhisperToMe (talk) 22:02, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Morbid Saint

Hey your info on morbid saint, can you source it? I couldn't find any. Thanks, Weltanschaunng 13:57, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
On a different note, Maddox rules! Weltanschaunng 18:19, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

I searched on blabbermouth, the band's home page (MS's), AMG, and that one trivia + pics link in the morbid saint article., I couldn't find that bit. Is it something said by Chuck in some interview? Then we could source it and include "Chuck Schuldiner considered...". Dunno if something like that is said, then it means a lot.
On the Bathory issue, my concern was, could we consider the pre-viking era albums to be thrash? I.e. the ones before Hammerheart or even Blood Fire Death...They constitute the first black metal wave, so IMO, they could be thrash. I was considering including them under the album list of bathory, which currently features only requiem and octagon now. Weltanschaunng 12:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I checked that one, i.e. googled that site for "morbid", all i found was morbid angel or morbid...dunno maybe it wasn't in an interview. And what about bathory? Weltanschaunng 20:04, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
"Juntando that the manic voice of Pat Lind did not like not like Chuck Schuldiner and the thrashers!" the portuguese text translated by google, not making much sense. Portuguese anyone? Weltanschaunng 20:07, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey dude! I read about that off your talk page some time ago! I'm not challenging it or anything. But, if ever this goes to FA, there will be people who will question where it came from. There are still some nn sources + self sourced cites in the article, leave alone not all bands have a description. I just said that, I couldn't find any. Cheers! Weltanschaunng 21:23, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Take care

Hi, I am posting here on Wikipedia for the last time today as this user. I have had fun editing pages here, and have met some cool people, but I'm afraid that if I didn't retire from Wikipedia today, then I'd be doing it either on or near June 26th, 2008. Why? Because I am leaving for boot camp on that day to join the U.S. Navy.

Do not feel abandoned if you are someone that I have gotten to know a little here. I'm not doing this to be a dick, only because I have to. I really don't have much time to edit here anymore, since I'm so busy getting prepared physically and taking care of the month and a half of schoolwork that I have left.

If I ever get the chance to resume editing here someday... then I will.

Until then, this is Dark Executioner's last stand. Dark Executioner (talk) 19:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Questions

1) User:Arisedrink's edits don't look too auspicious. He seems to be quoting policies and his edits don't look like obvious vandalism. If there is enough suspicion of sockpuppetry, file a report at WP:SSP (or get someone else to) and I can take a look at it then. In regards to the users' talk page, he can blank it if he so wishes. It's usually regarded as "okay" to blank your talk page (but archiving is preferred) after warnings to show you've seen and recognised them.
2) User:J Milburn is a pretty experienced admin so, superficially, I'd assume anything he does it on the level. In terms of "Is he allowed to do that?" - Yup, 'fraid so. Generally, as you know, if there is a free content route available then we take that one. I've seen plenty of discog. sections like that. If all the album covers are free and in the public domain, however, then it'd be okay to have pics of them up in a gallery.
Thanks for coming to me, Daniel. I hope this clears up any queries. If you have any more don't hesitate to come contact me. ScarianCall me Pat! 23:11, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
