BSG Episode Lists[edit]

Just curious why you removed my episode lists and replaced them with the old ones, mine were created so they could be transcluded and so they were easier to fill in, as they used a template. If you were unhappy with the fact I removed the UK and US airdates I didn't see the point and will happily add those into the new templates. Thanks --Mollsmolyneux (talk) 00:21, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sorting out my tables, I was wondering if there was a way of removing the summary from the main episode list. Btw is there a way of making it so that the "Lay Down your Burdens" episode title could all be on one line, just for the sake of neatness --Mollsmolyneux (talk) 15:40, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah thats much better :) --Mollsmolyneux (talk) 00:58, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

BSG episode list...again[edit]

Me again :P, I have redesigned the episodes list redesign I have made in order to let the episode list better match other DVD shows like List of Stargate SG-1 episodes or List of Lost episodes. Also need to add Blu-ray releases, but not sure which release date to include. Would appreicate any feedback you can give me. Its located here User:Mollsmolyneux/Sandbox/BSG Episode List. Thanks --Mollsmolyneux. Just curious what you think as you seem one of the most active editors. --Mollsmolyneux (talk) 15:08, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mollsmolyneux!
Firstly, thanks for the heads up with the proposed changes! I've got to say, you appear to have put a lot of time and effort this and it looks quite interesting. However, there are still some things which I would think would need to be tweeked. Unfortunately, i currently do not have to much time to write this so i am going to write the rest in dot points. Sorry in advance for any spelling or grammar mistakes. =S haha
1. I like the idea of making episode lists more uniform, i think that's a great idea.
2. (a rather minor point) the colours do not yet completely match up to the episodes (I reckon the Plan should keep to the violet/purple) and the complete number of episodes mentioned are incorrect. I don't know whether this is because you included the miniseries (*which probably shouldn't be refered to as 2 episodes in the complete box set but rather "miniseries" or something) or some of the TV movies as episodes or anything.
3. The series overview table may need some cutting down or something. I think all the box sets at the top like "The Complete Collection" and sets like that are not too important and are less important sets and thus they don't really fit in this section as an "overview" generally suggests that it's a summary of the most important bits which these are not.
4. I've noticed that you've changed the names of the Region 4 DVD names for Season 4. I know they probably fit better the way you have them now but the names given on the original page are what they are called. I know this well because i live in region 4 (Australia) and we do not call the season half of season 4 by the name "the final season" - in the DVD has it as "Season 4: Part 2 - The final season". In the original DVD table I tried to name the box sets as they were but this is obviously notably space consuming especially when it comes to overview tables.
5. In the overivew table you may also want to mention that the miniseries and season 1 were released together in the same box together (if this is not the case then it was at least the case in Australia and UK but i am pretty sure it was). Same with the blu-ray releases.
6. In the Season 4 section, the season was indeed broken but the way the able is currently shown, it does not indicate where exactly the split is. Also it should probably be noted that Razor was released in the season 4/ season 4 part 1/ season 4.0 box sets.
7. I know a lot of series episodes lists are including it now but currently (and same with the Stargate episode overview table) only really refer to Region A and not other regions. For example, The complete series of BSG was released together (excluding The Plan) and individually on the same date where as the US got the complete series on one date then has to wait long periods of time before the seasons come out individually. What i ma trying to get at here is that this will have to be a full table for Blu-ray and not just be 1 column.... which will of course make this overview table absolutely massive. Perhaps inspiration could be taken from Lost's overview table(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lost_episodes) =S not sure.
8. I don't actually mind the way you've divided the miniseries, TV series, webseries and TV movie up. I would recommend though that you perhaps renaming something like as follows. Maybe:

  • Battlestar Galactica (miniseries)
  • Battlestar Galactica (Television Series) [and put the years after each season which seems to be the "trendy thing" other lists seem to be doing, like Lost, haha)
  • Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
  • Web Series [I think this should not be just one list, I think they should be broken up and make into sub headings with text above each putting them into context but i do agree they probably should be placed separately as on every other list that seems to be the case. It also makes season 4 look a bit better, too.]
  • Future of Franchise [This section may not be necessary and more relevant to the other all BSG (2004 TV series) page but this is where one would puts quotes by Olmos saying more movies may still come and how RDM mentioned the sets were digitally archived and such and how he believes there probably won't be any more movies. And that most of the props were sold.]

9. I was wondering whether the series' colours should reflect the box sets more. This seems to be the trend of current series like what's been done on the Wire, Lost, Stargate franchise, Scrubs and South Park episode list pages. The most obvious problem with that is that BSG box sets vary between regions and therefore some lack a uniform and identifiable colour. Nevertheless I think it could be done... Maybe something like what Heroes' episode list could be implemented ([[1]]). The only reason i chose the colours which are currently being used is that they were the colours of the rainbow
10. Finally, with Razor, I am a little uncomfortable about it just being in the episode list the way it is. I feel as though it's significance and status as a TV movie is somewhat under-appreciated. I even think it could just pop out of the Season 4 table and become it's own heading between Seasons 3 and 4 but of course keep it's production numbers... but i am and always have been a bit unsure how best to position this gods damn movie which sits in the grey area between TV movie and TV episodes... GRRRR!!! it frustrates me!

Wellll.... I think that's about all I've got to say, haha. I know I've written a lot but I think most of them are small things. I am also willing to help you rework the page but i am afraid that i won't be able to find the time until next holidays which is like way in 4-5 weeks i think. But may be able to squeeze a couple of hours here and there. BTW if any of the above sounded a bit too critical/insulting/overly daunting, I am sorry. I just feel (a bit too) passionately about this page and would really love it to be as awesome as possible. =) (sorry for the length too, lol)

What's your take on the suggestions above? =/ --Myles Trundle (talk) 06:20, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
