POTD

Hi David,

Just to let you know that the Featured Picture Image:Alcatraz03182006.jpg is due to make an appearance as Picture of the Day on May 17, 2007. If you get a chance, you can check and improve the caption at Template:POTD/2007-05-17. Sorry for the late notice -- it's actually being thrown in as a last-minute replacement because there is a question about the licensing of the originally scheduled POTD. howcheng {chat} 21:20, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manhattan Theatre Source Nominated for Deletion[edit]

The article you created titled Manhattan Theatre Source has been nominated for deletion because it fails to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. This is a small unknown theatre and it would appear that the sole purpose of the article is an attempt to receive free advertising. It would appear to be a vanity article. AfD nomination of Galumphing[edit]

An editor has nominated Galumphing, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Galumphing and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:00, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John Dobson’s death[edit]

Hi,

I have seen it mentioned elsewhere, so I know it is true, but do you have a source for John Dobson’s death? Wikipedia rules would ask for a source anyhow…

Best regards,

CielProfond (talk) 00:02, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My condolences to you and to Mr. Dobson's son. It is a very sad loss indeed for the whole astronomical community. However, I am unsure social media can be considered reliable sources by Wikipedia (even though it is true news). I read that Sidewalk Astronomers also posted on their website; that may be a more acceptable source for Wikipedia... CielProfond (talk) 11:31, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. A tag has been placed on Manhattan Theatre Source, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 03:46, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
