Iguana[edit]

Hi. A couple of days ago you removed the image that I had upoaded to the Iguana article, saying that the genus was wrongly described. When I took the picture in Mexico recently I was told that it was a Mexican spiny-taled iguana, and had no reason to believe otherwise. As you would appear to be something of an expert on the subject could you please tell me what it actually is, so that, in the interests of accuracy, I can change the description. You'll find it here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Iguanamexico.jpg Thanks. ♦ Jongleur100 talk 16:23, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your swift reply. I'll follow your suggestions. Cheers. ♦ Jongleur100 talk 16:38, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've never had a picture of mine nominated so don't know how to go about it, but I'm flattered that you think it's good enough. Cheers. ♦ Jongleur100 talk 16:44, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Moves[edit]

We really need to bring it to his attention that he shouldn't be making unilateral moves like this. I've also caught him adding false IUCN categories on different animal pages as well. I've asked for explanations before, but he just doesn't reply. bibliomaniac15 23:28, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If their disruption continues, a report at WP:ANI may be needed. bibliomaniac15 23:35, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Cutlery tweaks[edit]

Oi Mike, I've added a To-Do template to the WP page, and also put up a (not yet functioning) Shortcut templates. Before we get too deep into setting up the project, I would like to put out an opinion that "WP:BLADES" might be more descriptive. "Cutlery" sounds kind of like flatware to a lot of people, and "Blaes" might get the same gist (allowing swords, axes, razors, etc as well as knives) in a clearer way. I would suggest calling it WP:BLADES and having a redirect from WP:KNIVES (not yet created). Same way that WP:GUNS redirects to WP:FIREARMS. What do you think? And does the current To-Do template work for you? WP:GUNS uses it and it seems a really effective way of sorting ideas. MatthewVanitas (talk) 19:01, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Diana Lee Inosanto[edit]

I believe Ron Balicki changed Diana Lee Inosanto's date of birth from 1966 to 1973, which I understand to be inaccurate. That was the reason I flagged this as coi. Mike, we are voting at mediation on the name of the Church here [2]. Please cast your vote so we can either find consensus or not for this suggestion. Thanks.

File source problem with File:RogueBW.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:RogueBW.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:47, 22 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 02:47, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am curious where you got the photo from so it can be verified that the image is in the public domain.--Rockfang (talk) 02:48, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Could you add a specific page url of where you found it to the image's page please? The reason I ask is because it looks like a scan from a book. Like how authors sometimes show pictures of themselves in the back of the book. I searched "rogue warrior" and marcinko on military.com and couldn't find it.--Rockfang (talk) 07:11, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To be fair, we have a policy on undue weight, and a peer-reviewed study as this shouldn't be neglected, in my opinion. I don't think however, that we should immediately discount virulent bacteria in the saliva as a contributing factor though. bibliomaniac15 05:04, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Project news
  • The Christianity project and its related projects currently have 76 FAs, 8 FLs, and 148 GAs. We gained new recognized content in each field, with 4 FAs promoted, 2 FLs, and 3 GAs. Congratulations and a big thank you to all those who worked on these articles!

Other news
  • I am still working on the categorization matter. With any luck, we should have some results by the end of the month. There are also some discussions regarding project related activities at Wikipedia:WikiProject Christianity/General Forum. One issue in particular that might be addressed is possible elections of new coordinators. Anyone interested in serving in such a capacity is more than welcome to indicate as much.

Member contest of the month
  • The previous contests are still ongoing, because of the extreme amount of time the categorization is taking me. Anyone who can bring any of the few Stub class articles among the project's 1000 most often accessed articles by the end of July will get an award. Please see the details Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Christianity#Project challenge of the month.

From the Members

Welcome to the Tenth issue of the WikiProject Christianity newsletter! Use this newsletter as a mechanism to inform yourselves about progress at the project and please be inspired to take more active roles in what we do.

It has been a long time since the last coordinators election. There is a lot for people to do, and I certainly would welcome seeing any individuals with an interest in such a position put themselves forward as candidates. I in particular would very much like to see some degree of "specialization" in the coordinators, so that, for instance, we might have someone knowledgable about some of the specific Christian faith traditions or other main subjects, like Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Mormonism, the Jehovah's Witnesses, art, theology, and so on. If any parties who have experience with some of our faith- or- subject-based content would be interested in being candidates, I would love to see them do so. Please feel free to take part in the discussion regading what the minimum number of category items is, and how to deal with the non-qualifying categories, on the General Forum page.

Thank you for your input (SOG specialty knives)[edit]

While I appreciate your status as an "Iron Editor", I do believe that members are encouraged to make changes and to "be bold". Statement directly from the welcome page that you referred me to: Remember - you can't break Wikipedia; all edits can be reversed, fixed or improved later. So go ahead, edit an article and help make Wikipedia the best information source on the Internet! - I agreed with some of your edits to the SOG specialty knives article as founded and respect them and let them be, however it seems that you have taken some of my edits personal, (referring to the semi rude talk message that you sent to me). I hope that by using the term "our encyclopedia", you truly mean ours and don't see newcomers as outsiders. I don't believe that you have the right to direct me to whatever section that you see fit for me on the site, I would leave those types of decisions to the administrator(s). In the future please handle disputes that you have with my edits by making changes to the articles themselves, instead of sending discouraging talk messages. Thank you for your time. - RINERI RINERI (talk) 03:02, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mike[edit]

Thanks for the words Mike. I understand where you are coming from. This is why I didn't change most of the items that you edited in the article. While I believe that I did not necessarily state an opinion, I will concede that some folks may take it as one and therefore will argue this point no more. As you can imagine, the template comes off a little condescending. But getting past that, I believe that the SOG specialty knives article is fitting as it is between your edits and mine for the time being and we can leave it as is. Again thanks for taking the time to analyze the situation. If most Wikipedia issues can be resolved in such a manner, I will be glad to be a member for some time. Take care - RINERI —Preceding unsigned comment added by RINERI (talkcontribs) 07:26, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Colt Lever Action[edit]

In the 1880s, Colt produced a .44-40 lever action rifle designed by Andrew Burgess. The story goes that Colt stopped production of the Burgess rifle due to a quid pro quo agreement with Winchester that the latter would not begin producing revolvers. One of the Winchester revolver prototypes was designed by William Mason, the same fellow who designed the Colt M1873 SAA. --D.E. Watters (talk) 12:53, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
