Using theories from your site[edit]

Hi Michel,

Putting the text about your theories on the talk page is much more acceptable. I don't know anything about the subject, as I'm blind, as it says on my user page; I only watch the article for vandalism.

However, Wikipedia discourages original research, or your own theories. Any text added to Wikipedia must be backed up by third-party reliable sources, such as peer reviewed journal articles. Personal websites do not usually count as reliable sources. Graham87 12:42, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving notes about personal theories in talk pages isn't well tolerated. Talk pages are there to facilitate discussion to improve the article. Adding content that will never be allowed in an article is not a good use of talk pages. Sometimes discussion and general chitchat is tolerated though, like at Talk:Gimli Glider. I removed the speculation from Talk:Epicanthic fold because such unverifiable material can't be used in the article and is not useful in the article's Talk page. -- SEWilco (talk) 19:10, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:MonaLisa and 800.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:MonaLisa and 800.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 08:15, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you supply the link to the original file that was used? That would help in determining what license would be appropriate. Skier Dude (talk) 23:09, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
W/ the information you've provided, I've updated the info on the image page = please verify this is correct. Skier Dude (talk) 02:51, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Linking[edit]

Hey, Just a pointer when you are linking within wikipedia it's better to use what's known as short linking instead of long linking. For example single bracket like [article] will give a long link, but you can short link within wikipedia by usuing double square brackets i.e. [[LHC]], will give LHC. Anyway though we may disagree on content, you can always ask for any help with regards to Wikiedia procedures and how things are done. Regards Khukri 19:37, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Vasily Sokolov1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Vasily Sokolov1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 05:15, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
