Hello Meeepmep. I think that there might be a minor error in the caption of the excellent photograph that you have posted in the above article. Sources indicate that it was taken in Monastir, Macedonia, not Monastir, Tunisia in 1917. This is supported by the visible snow, the east-European appearance of the onlookers and the fact that colonial troops from French Indochina are known to have served in Macedonia, though not in North Africa, during World War I. Any objection to my changing "Tunisia" to "Macedonia"? Regards Buistr (talk) 20:00, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 13[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Air raids on Japan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nemuro (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:24, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Nazi infobox image sizes[edit]

I have reverted a number of your edits changing the sizes of pictures of Nazis in their article infoboxes. The purpose of an image in an infobox is to help the reader to identify the subject, not to glorify the subject by presenting the image in a very large image.

I would like to remind you about WP:BRD. When your Bold edit has been Reverted by another editor, the recommended next step, if you continue to think the edit is necessary, is to Discuss the dispute on the article talk page with other editors, but not to re-revert it, which is the first step to edit warring, a disruptive activity which is not allowed. Discussion on the talk page is the only way we have of reaching consensus, which is central to resolving editing disputes in an amicable and collegial manner, which is why communicating your concerns to your fellow editors is essential. While the discussion is going on, the article generally should remain in the status quo ante until the consensus as to what to do is reached.

Please do not revert these changes, which were the result of a discussion between editors. Instead, start a centralized discussion about them somewhere and put links to in on the other articles' talk pages. Beyond My Ken (talk) 10:56, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You're still doing it. Please stop. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:53, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help[edit]

Hello,

I noticed that you edit from the mobile site and that you can write in a Chinese script, so I was hoping that you could help me. The mw:Editing team has posted some ideas about improving the editing experience on the mobile site at mw:Visual-based mobile editing/Ideas/October 2018. Could you look through that and tell them which ideas you like best (or least)? It's really helpful for them to hear from experienced editors who are familiar with the challenges of editing on the mobile site.

Also, from the userboxes on your user page, you might be interested in editing at w:yue:. Thanks, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:31, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring notification[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Gotthard Heinrici. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:20, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Query about uploads at Commons[edit]

Hi Meeepmep, you have recently uploaded a number of WW2-era images at Commons: [2], such as:

Judging by the composition, style, and subject matter, some of them appear to have been taken by Heinrich Hoffmann (photographer). What makes you think that these images are in the public domain? --K.e.coffman (talk) 03:01, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, I would appreciate an answer still. --K.e.coffman (talk) 04:53, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Hello, sorry for the late reply. If any photo that I've uploaded violates copyright, I'm fine with having them deleted, but I still think that those photos are public domain because they were taken such a long time ago. Do you have any definitive proof that the photos were indeed taken by Hoffmann?--Meeepmep(talk) 17:30, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • The burden is on you to show that the images are in the public domain; you cannot copy files that you find on the internet and upload them to Commons. The files should be tagged for speedy deletion as copyright violations. Do you know how to do that? If not, I can show you how. --K.e.coffman (talk) 00:07, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of B-29s in front of Mount Fuji[edit]

Hi, As the Air raids on Japan article is a featured article, and I'm developing the article on the 9/10 March bombing of Tokyo to FA standard, the photos included in them need to have good quality metadata which demonstrates their relevance to the topics. I've seen similar photographs published with captions stating that they were taken after the war - B-29s were used in show of force flights over Japan after the surrender, and were based there in large numbers during the Korean War. Can you please also add alt text for the photos you're adding? The other images in the articles have this, and it's regarded as best practice for FAs. Nick-D (talk) 06:41, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Meeepmep. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Portrait of Irène Cahen d'Anvers".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 02:24, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
