user page[edit]

I see you don't have a user page. You should create one, so that people can easily see who you are.Zjjppiscool (talk) 19:18, 12 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zjjppiscool thanks! I'll work on getting that up there soon, need to look up what generally to write in user pages. : )MatildeZ (talk) 08:33, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again Zjjppiscool I have now started editing my talk User page. Where can I find the cool templates for which languages I speak, etc. that many other users have on their talk page? I'm open to all suggestions. Thanks so much for your help! MatildeZ (talk) 11:44, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, User:MatildeZ, see your User page where I've added a link with instructions of how to set up your "Babel Box" languages with levels of proficiency. (I had to get help with mine, too!) -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 13:34, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Simon Cohen's use of "sabbatical"[edit]

Hello, Matilde, and welcome to editing Wikipedia! On the Teahouse I noticed the discussion about your recently created page for Simon Cohen, so I went to help edit it. I did find one particularly problematic usage - not yours, but the subject's - which required careful restorative editing. As it may yet require discussion, I've documented my approach in my Edit summaries but also on Talk:Simon Cohen#Sabbatical. You're welcome to contact me on my User talk page or by private message via User:Deborahjay-Email this user. Then again, perhaps I'm overly cautious and everyone will be in perfectly harmonious, unanimous agreement with it! -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 13:46, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Deborahjay and thank you for adding the language box! And also for your help with the article. I don't have enough experience to say which edits are most appropriate but I think it's relevant adding the changes that you so kindly provided. I have a few proposed changes of other things in the text and I just got a reply on Teahouse about how to use the magic template 'request edit', I greatly appreciate any support on improvements. Thank you! MatildeZ (talk) 14:31, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Simon Cohen for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Simon Cohen is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Simon Cohen until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:42, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Just to note that I made this nomination not out of disrespect for the work you have put into this article, but to hopefully resolve the question of notability that is hanging over it. I don't want to put any more effort into the article if the subject is going to be judged as not notable six months down the line. Cordless Larry (talk) 06:58, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for letting me know Cordless Larry. I just published a comment on the 'articles for deletion' page, I hope it was ok for me to do that. I appreciate you wanting to solve this issue and I understand your, and other editors concerns, and editors not wanting to keep on editing until it has been resolved. MatildeZ (talk) 15:14, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, MatildeZ - thank you for the work you've done and for your efforts to learn the proper ways to get your article published. As a member of WP:NPP, my recommendation is to move the article into draft space which I can do for you now. That way, you'll be able to work on the issues and learn how to do what needs to be done without concern of deletion. I also recommend working with a mentor who can guide you in the process. We want to help you reach your goals as a new WP editor and article creator. Cordless Larry, I welcome your input. Atsme📞📧 17:00, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It is absolutely OK for you to take part in the AfD discussion, MatildeZ. Atsme, given that this article has already been through the AfC review process, I'm a bit sceptical about whether moving it back to draft space is the answer. If you do move it back, then I think we need to ensure that the reviewer has experience of notability debates and won't accept the draft if the wider community doesn't consider the subject notable. That said, it may well be unnecessary, because this AFD could close as a keep. Cordless Larry (talk) 20:41, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I trust that you know best what the most appropriate thing to do is, I have tried responding to the question of notability on the deletion page. Let's see how the discussion goes. MatildeZ (talk) 07:36, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cordless Larry and Atsme. I was away this weekend without internet and just saw that the page has been deleted. It's of course a shame to see the conclusion because I think the article mainly needed some work. Maybe those improvements could have been achieved by myself together with an experienced mentor. I have the feeling that there's an ambiguity towards people having worked in media and PR. I'm also not really sure I understand the criterion for notability. Thank you for your efforts and time with the page, on the discussions and for trying to help me learn the ropes. Please do let me know if there's any other steps left to take, although it seems the article might be gone forever now, or until someone else decides to start a page on the subject.
