Regarding...

...this,[1] I'm not sure he has an "original" account. I think it was IP's originally. It would probably take scouring the archives for a number of years back. Though it's possible Jayron32 (talk · contribs) might recall. And if it's not in the LTA list, it should be. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:16, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

It's possible it's Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/109.151.65.218, though I'm not at all certain. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 22:25, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Baseball Bugs. I remember the origins of 109. They were obsessed with removing the word rape from various articles. As they morphed away from that to plot questions I started calling them the "plot point vandal" but I wasn't sure whether it was the same person or not. Nor, AFAIK, was an LTA ever compiled. I hadn't seen a post from them in some time so I was vague on the particulars, thus, I appreciate your info. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 22:55, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
They have already been picked off by a checkuser. See [2]. And for the record, this looks VERY much like it was the person that you both were thinking of. --Jayron32 11:19, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the update Jayron32. MarnetteD|Talk 15:46, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you Gerda Arendt. You brought more wonderful learning to my day. Especially Vítězslava Kaprálová who I hadn't heard of before. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 19:55, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Nor did I. LouisAlain creates all these article, and then I can only admire. Please keep an eye on my talk, I had a strange visitor or two today, and bet there will be more. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:06, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Will do Gerda Arendt. MarnetteD|Talk 20:11, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

bareurls

I usually add the tag to an article that has a lot of bareurls (at least half the refs are bare) as well as articles that have just a few when those are all the refs in the article (to try to set an example for the addition of future refs). What about one ones that fall in the middle. Dublin Airport has 115 refs, most have some formatting. But there are still a dozen or so that are just urls. Thoughts? MB 21:20, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

p.s., I'm trying to remember not to next the tag in M.I. ! MB 21:21, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
Hiya MB. Thanks for your question and for giving some thought to what happens regarding the workload. For me it doesn't really matter whether there are a couple, several or a whole slew of bare urls. Refill and reflinks will fix as many as they can. If there are any left over after running both of those there is still citer that I can use on on them one at a time. After that, if any remain, they have to be done manually but I have gotten pretty adept at dealing with those. If one of the main tools goes down it slows things and if both are on the fritz then it gets to be a big pain in the patoot. When that happens I just have to leave articles with numerous bareurls until they are running again but that shouldn't deter you from tagging them with the linkrot template. Back your original question feel free to tag em so we can bag em :-) Thanks again and cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 23:27, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
I did fix those on the Dublin Airport article :-) MarnetteD|Talk 23:27, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

infobox fix

Just noticed you removed "notable work" as non-existent, but it exists as notable_works. MB 22:39, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

I did restore one, but don't know if there were more. MB 22:43, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah I missed that it needed an underscore MB - plz feel free to restore - if it is one of those that used a capital N make sure to change it to a lowercase n. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk
Gotcha MB. The problem with this field has always its being inherently WP:POV and prone to fans bloating it with their favorites. There is the followup problem of having any sourced info in the article to support the assertion of those items being any more notable than any other of a persons works In fact when there was an Infobox Actor it was removed by consensus for just that reason. Enjoy your weekend. Anyhoo enjoy your weekend. MarnetteD|Talk 22:51, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

Ciao

Ciao, M. Long time no see, right? So anyway, do you heard of a channel called Radiotelevisione Italiana, Known as RAI? Starkiryu64 (talk) 03:00, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello Starkiryu64. It is good to hear from you and I hope you are well. I do know about that company and have even seen a few programs that they produced over the years including Nostromo (TV series) and Inspector De Luca (TV series). Cheers or should I say salute! MarnetteD|Talk 03:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
You know about their idents. Pretty cool right? Starkiryu64 (talk) 11:43, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Dubai Seenu

Hello, MarnetteD. Re this edit, I noticed that the previous version you've restored has multiple issues:

  1. Chintapalli Ramana has only dialogue credit, therefore it cannot be clubbed with the writers who gave the story and screenplay (which the writer parameter is intended for.)
  2. uses the error |awards= parameter, which I've replaced with |studio=
  3. starring Ravi Teja in the lead role (redundant, because starring = lead role, generally speaking)
  4. The film is directed by Srinu Vaitla in his third collaboration with Ravi Teja after Nee Kosam and Venky. DVV Danayya produced this film after the box office success of his maiden film, Desamuduru. (Unsourced commentary, more of a trivia; partly incorrect as Danayya's maiden venture is Jamba Lakidi Pamba)
  5. remade in Kannada as Dubai Babu with Upendra in lead role (lead role of a remake is not lead worthy)

I think should've been more detailed in my edit summary but as the above version has several issues, I've made the necessary changes. You may review my edit here. Thanks -- Ab207 (talk) 21:06, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the explanation. Yes, please use the edit summary asnd make sure to provide WP:RS with you changes. MarnetteD|Talk 05:10, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Today: Thomas Fritsch, the German character voice of Diego in Ice Age --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:30, 24 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks Gerda Arendt. The flowers are gorgeous. What a wide range of films he worked on both as an actor and a voice. I recently found another scene from that DNO Cenerentola. If they keep adding a bit at a time I might get to see the whole thing 20 years from now :-) They also posted this brief look at the craftspeople making the wigs for the production. I don't know whether most audience members have any idea just how much work goes on behind the scenes to bring us such enjoyment. Enjoy the rest of your week. MarnetteD|Talk 18:55, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, and agree. Here's a delightful little thing from my area, - the popular encore has less German than the also popular first music. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:38, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Very nice Gerda Arendt. 20 years ago that would have been filmed using a camera crane or even a flyover now drones allow for all sorts of filming angles to enhance the scene - amazig. MarnetteD|Talk 03:13, 25 May 2021 (UTC)
See my talk today, - it's rare that a person is pictured when a dream comes true, and that the picture is shown on the Main page on a meaningful day. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:32, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
Absolutely wonderful Gerda Arendt. Thanks for sharing. MarnetteD|Talk 16:36, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Precious anniversary

Precious
One year!

As it happens, your anniversary of precious, on St. John's Day, and the name of a few men I love is something German for John. So I'll write on an article on a piece of music another friend played as a surprise for the birthday of one of them. Johann Sebastian would hopefully smile. (Even Mozart has Johann in his collection of baptismal names, but no Amadeus.) I'll also add a bit to the impressions, after a hike yesterday with the skies all dramas, and food mentioned on Floq's talk. I'll also upload a rainbow, pic taken earlier. More on my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:41, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Thank you Gerda. I learned about M's baptism name including Theophilus from Andre Previn in his marvelous series Sounds Magnificent 40 some odd years ago. Just one of the many many things he taught me. Thanks again and cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 14:13, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
small world - just yesterday I learned about another educational program which included Der fliegende Holländer with Ingrid Haubold (expanded now, after copyvio reduction to stub in 2018) and Alfred Muff (created today, by LouisAlain) - food pics added --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:25, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
The pics are so nice, especially the rainbow Gerda. Thank you. MarnetteD|Talk 20:54, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
I updated, with thanks for your efforts for the Signpost obit that finally appeared. Yesterday (see bottom there), I had the chance to take one pic of three people "with an article" yesterday, - hasn't happened before. Sibelius and Mendelssohn's Reformation were the lovely occasion, - listening to the first live concert this year, on livestream in today's version (- president's speech, + another Mendelssohn). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:03, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
I didn't have a chance to see the concert until just now Gerda. So wonderful as is the venue. Nice work n the pics as well. Many thanks. MarnetteD|Talk 20:36, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
Thank you! I added: missing SlimVirgin to my talk --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:33, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
Last year's flowers match the image on the user page nicely, see? - DYK that her last reply to me was in a thread Green for hope? - The DYK set for Yoninah will appear tomorrow, including Psalm 85, with the kiss of justice and peace. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:15, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you Gerda. When life gets hectic - like it is this weekend - or I get absent minded - which happens more and more - I can forget to say thanks. I hope you will forgive me - just know I appreciate what you share with me. Regards. MarnetteD|Talk
Please just say thank you, - nothing about "forgiving" ;) - Did you see the cute set, with elephants "kissing" pictured, and justice and peace, - always women, it seems. It was pictured on the Main page in the first round, - here's a different one. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:00, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
Fourth of July, Brian's birthday, remembered in gratitude for his unfailing inspiration and support. - today: remember the Chapel - the missed - the music. - Can I interest you in a user's first FAC, Carillon? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:09, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

Please stop removing the maintenance template. I disagree with the reasoning behind calling her an "actor" as opposed to an "actress" because it does not conform to Wikipedia policy; however, I am not trying to change it. I am pointing out that the sources given for that claim do not support that claim. There is no consensus for using those particular sources in that particular spot – it was added by one user a few months ago. Please discuss this on the talk page. MClay1 (talk) 00:42, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Actually there is a consensus. It was decided long ago that we would use the same term the person does. MarnetteD|Talk 02:21, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
Decided by who? I looked at the talk page archive and there does not appear to be a consensus for that. If anything, it appears there is consensus for the opposite, but a very small number of editors, including you, are insistent on your POV. Obviously "actor" applies to women too, but "actress" is also accurate, unless you can provide a source that shows otherwise. I have looked and I can't find any source where she discusses the issue or any secondary source making the same claim. What The Guardian chooses to do with its house style is irrelevant. I'm not trying to be difficult – the article just needs a source to support the claim. What does she say in the Mad Men commentary? Also, what did you mean by "you may want to see the latest news on the Emmy's"? MClay1 (talk) 03:37, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
MOS:GNL and WP:GENDER spell it out pretty clearly. The consensus was hammered out prior to 2010 at either the bio project or the wp:vpp - or perhap a third place that has escaped my memory. You may not be aware of this but writing style guidelines are the framework for most of the wikiP's MOS. Actress is a gender specific term as archaic as authoress or comedienne. She calls herself an actor in the commentary. One of several places noting the Emmy's change. You will also want to check the menu of Comcast/Xfinity programing where the only term used is actor. Even my local newspaper dropped the term actress a year or so ago and the world did not fall apart. The only POV present is someone who insists that different words have to be used for the same occupation. Gee, how is it that I am able to discern the gender of Agatha Christie or Amelia Earhart or Kathy Griffin when gender neutral terms are used to describe their professions? Hehe! Yes, I've seen all about the heatwave in North America. Uncomfortable stuff. The hottest I've ever endured was 41 degrees when I was in Sydney a few years ago. I think that's about 104 in Fahrenheit. Summer's not to great in the UK at the moment, it might arrive one day! At least it's stopped raining and there's some live cricket to watch. Have a good one too. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 18:46, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
I turned on the cricket yesterday a few seconds late - and Pakistan were already 0 for 1 after just one ball (Imam-ul-Haq lbw Mahmood, 0). Commented about it to my mother - and whilst we were talking the score reached 0 for 2 after 3 balls (Babar Azam c Crawley b Mahmood, 0). --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:41, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
