Re: Michael Gambon

Re the messages you left for Gonzo fan2007: Gonzo fan2007 asked me to watch his talk page while he is on his wikibreak. I took a look at the article history and it does appear that the editor from Spain has returned. It looks like he prefers a particular revision of the page, but I haven't quite figured out which revision it is. Anyways, I think that it is a bit early for semi-protection again. He has only been back for a day or two. I suggest that you monitor the situation a bit and if he returns, ask for semi-protection through WP:RFPP if you need immediate attention or leave me a note if a delay is fine. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:51, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Re your message: I noticed the excess linking and linking to the wrong page. I was saying it was unusual because these types of editors usually have some particular revision that they like and revert back to. I couldn't quite figure out which revision that was. That really doesn't matter though. Should he come back, leave me a note about it and I will reset the protection. It doesn't seem to be a constant reverting, but if I'm a bit slow to respond, do feel free to make a new request at WP:RFPP. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:10, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: I reset the protection for another month. Hopefully they will not return after that. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 17:51, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Re your message: I reset the protection for another month. Very odd. Some of the edits do appear to be good though. If you have the time, I think the filmography section should be checked to make sure it is accurate. Protecting a talk page is highly unusual and I don't think it has gotten to the point where it needs protection. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 07:06, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Jeremy Brett

Thanks, I will keep an eye on it and protect it (again) if necessary. Garion96 (talk) 23:05, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

And he just reverted you, so I seimi-protected the article for a period of three months. Garion96 (talk) 23:10, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

about the article Red Beard

The article Red Beard needs a lot of work. You did a 'undo' of my changes on the article. Thought you would correct my 'grammar mistakes' and update the article. It's been more than a month! Manu (talk) 16:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Happy Holidays

Sorry about this morning, Feliz Navidad, prospero año y felicidad.--intraining Jack In 04:38, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the nice card and holiday cheer. The warning about yellow snow never goes amiss:-) Happy holidays to you too. MarnetteD | Talk 04:44, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
No problems I do feel bad though, good luck!.--intraining Jack In 04:51, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I don't know if you have any projects on the go at the moment. I would like to know if you would want to help me out with List of documentary films ever since this revision I have pretty mush got it to where it is now. As you may know with documentarys, Producers hold just as much a important title as the director's so the producers need to be added at some stage. I am asking if you would like to work together to vastly improve this article by doing what ever needs to be done to get it to featured list status.--intraining Jack In 07:31, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me, I like the ideas you have. As it will be a very time consuming project I have started a new page here to avoid it looking messy while in public view before going live with it.--intraining Jack In 05:04, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Lon Chaney Sr

hi, nothing speculative about Richard Mansfield<--link. He was a real person which is why I LINKED his name. He was an actor prevalent in stage makeup before Chaney And whether it's true if Chaney said it or not, it was a nice touch by the producers of the film. But I should've known better than to try and educate through an acknowledgement of Mansfield the dolts on Wikipedia. That's why books are still very important. Im really tired of trying to educate people on Wiki even though I persist as I like to learn. But I tried here before the revert. Thanks for your time. Koplimek (talk) 05:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

So the words "was probably" aren't speculative. You may well be right but until you can provide proof that LC knew anything about RM, and was inspired by him, you are engaging in WP:OR. This is an encyclopedia not a blog and learning the way that wikipedia works would help to bring value to your contributions. It should be fun to educate yourself by going out and finding an actual connection between the two. Numerous works - books and scholarly journal articles etc - have been written about both men and if a connection exists other scholars will have commented on it. Then you could reenter it the info with a citation and enhance LC's wikipage. MarnetteD | Talk 19:49, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Vandal accusation

In this edit comment you called someone a vandal for an edit that just changed the name listed to an author's actual name as listed at the beginning of his article. It's clear that the editor who made tha chang was only trying to put the real name there and be more accurate and not to vandalize the site. A quick glance at his/her other edits show similar updates on names. Someone new to Wikipedia wouldn't know that the link would break. The accusation of vandalism in this case was uncalled for, and you should be more careful in the future. DreamGuy (talk) 18:32, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

If you had looked at bit closer you would see that the edit broke the link that went to Stoker's page. That is called vandalism and was thus the edit summary was correct. It is also a fact that current community consensus is that he is called Bram Stoker sinced that is the name that is on all of his books. If you wish to change that please start a discussion at the appropriate place. You may also wish to look at this edit [1] and explain to me how that makiing the page more accurate. MarnetteD | Talk 19:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
a closer look at the IP's edits shows all of them to be unsourced and most could be incorrect. All of their edits at this page [2] turned out to be vandalism. Perhaps you should be a bit more thorough in your research before lecturing other editors who are working hard to protect Wikipedia's pages. MarnetteD | Talk 19:45, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Snap! Now the IP has received a block [3] for their continual vandalism. MarnetteD | Talk 20:25, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Holy cow. I would think that anyone with a block log like this [4] might think a bit before making such erroneous accusations. MarnetteD | Talk 00:32, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Heads Up

Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up - I generally don't like doing structural changes liek that unless there's been discussion first - I don't mind someone else was bodl and did it for me... Etron81 (talk) 02:37, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Article on actor David Burke

Hello.

I cannot quite comprehend why the data on David Burke was deleted. The references were given, although not everything is "wikified". However, someone re-added Anna Calder-Marshall as spouse, and she isn't wikified either ...

I have not yet checked it, but if my editions for the article on his son Tom were deleted too, I won't ever contribute anything to this site anymore. Can you imagine - I'm sure you can - how much time this had cost? I stated that I do know Mr D Burke personally and everything I wrote is correct, no matter what (official) source I added. Or shall I add Mr Burke as a source and start gossiping about our last appointment? THIS would definitely not meet the criteria!

I am a bit upset, forgive me.

So please let me know why the references were not accepted.

Frost/Nixon

What was your thinking in moving the section to the end? I thought it made sense chronologically where it had been previously. --Mvemkr (talk) 05:09, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Please don't take this the wrong way (as I am not upset about it) but it would have been nice if you had provided a link to the edit that you were asking about. I do a lot of editing here and I've just spent 10+ minutes hunting this down. Based on the title that you chose for this section I looked on pages for the play and the film where nothing was moved. When I remembered that I had also worked on DF's page checked and I realized that I had moved it because the play/film are only tangential to Frost's biography. It is a dramatized version of events from his past, however, both the play and the film are recent events and, thus, belong after the sections of the page that deal with his real life. This is just one editors opinion and if you feel strongly about moving it back you might post a question on the talk page and see how others feel. Cheers and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 05:47, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
I don't have a strong opinion about it, and I will remember your note about links to histories in my future edits.--Mvemkr (talk) 00:13, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Audrey Hepburn

Hi MarnetteD, Happy to hear from you. It's a shame there's been so much tendentious editing to the article recently. I tried to copy the whole thing into a word document so that I could spell check it, but I couldn't get it to work. I'll try again later, because there seem to be some other American spellings in there. Cheers Rossrs (talk) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

I figured out how to do it, so the article has been spell-checked from top to toe and Europeanised. Rossrs (talk) 08:52, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Ballet lessons/training

Hola! I didn't leave the original message on the talk page, but I did leave the 5 REFERENCES. I couldn't change the article because it is semi-protected. Also, I left all of those references for you to pick through to see if there were any morsels you wanted to work into the article. I found some of them to be interesting and also having multiple sources one can be a more complete picture with a stronger footing. (I left this message to Roossrs, but he has ignored it, so I thought I would ask you. Take a look and see if anything is there.) Take care. - 4.240.165.207 (talk) 11:08, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Michael Gambon has never won these prizes. If you want to check it looks on this page, Michael Gambon Awards. Leave and modify the article inept! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.42.160.166 (talk) 17:09, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

As ever IMDb is not a reliable source and your continued use of it as the only source for your edits is one of the problems with all that you do. MarnetteD | Talk 17:20, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

WP:FILMS Questionnaire

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Dates

Just to let you know they were not automated, although a few may have been done under the bot name. Rich Farmbrough, 23:50 20 January 2009 (UTC).

That is crazy

Some of that stuff was tagged back in 2007. Why are you reverting my perfectly reasonable edits. You need to start sourcing all of that junk info. 71.178.197.11 (talk) 01:40, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

No you need to start applying WP:AGF. Those edits may have been made years before the "everything must be sourced" credo came into being. MarnetteD | Talk 05:20, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Yojimbo Influences

MarnetteD ... with respect, I have pared-down my text about Yojimbo's influence on Samurai Jack, and reposted it to Yojimbo's 'Influence' section. I admit to being a newbie, and remain open to constructive criticism ... especially from someone who shares my interest in Vincent Price ... Thank you ... Mcwebeditor (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

MarnetteD ... thank you for your timely response, and your encouragement. I, too, saw Vincent Price on stage, when he portrayed Oscar Wilde at Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was actually the SECOND Vincent Price I met, since I was already writing film reviews for his son! Cheers! ... Mcwebeditor (talk) 22:49, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Cate Blanchett

Hi. I had seen the changes to the Lord of the Rings films in the article earlier and started to revert it, then for some reason, I decided to check and discovered that the pages had been moved to the title without the word "film" in it some time ago [5]. I didn't revert what you reverted, thinking I'd tell you instead. It can be returned to the simpler title because the current version redirects. Wildhartlivie (talk) 10:46, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

You are correct, no piping is needed. Don't feel bad, I've used the redirect link for a long time myself now. It was just on a whim that I checked the link that had been changed! Wildhartlivie (talk) 10:51, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Could you explain to me how Fable II is not notable in her career? She voiced a main character in a very successful video game. --GW-Shadowphoenix (talk) 16:24, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
