Hi. Farid Simaika is an Egyptian sporting hero. When I set out on researching him, I was struck by how little was known about his life!

I used the following references:

Archives of the USA government and US army

World war II books

American newspaper clippings. In fact, I acquired over 200 clippings from American newspapers and went through them one by one. Some of them were in poor shape (and whoever had scanned them had not scanned the date at the top on the page!). I felt it would have been inappropriate to list 200 references for the purpose of a wikipedia article (in the reference list).

I also interviewed members of the Simaika family who gave me valuable information which they had personally witnessed and/or heard in relation to Farid Simaika's life.

I understand that you feel that some material is not being adequately referenced. I am sure that you appreciate the difficulty of getting references relating to a mere sporting champion who died back in 1942 at the young age of 35. After all, he was a mere diver and not a leading politian and eminent nuclear physicist! He lived in the era where there was no internet or wikipedia. Thank you for highlighting any particular parts(s) of the text you feel need more references and I can work on them. Thank you for appreciating that I have spent eleven months researching Farid Simaika's life in order to share my knowledge with Egyptian youth and humanity. Kind regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.196.188.42 (talk) 07:30, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

Nobody would object to your edit if you didn't break the format and structure of the article and fail to follow the manual of style. As it stands the text is not of acceptable quality. QuiteUnusual (talk) 07:36, 6 July 2014 (UTC)
You have also added extensive speculation, long quotes which are so large that they are copyright violations, adopted an "editorial style" that is inappropriate to an encyclopedia, etc. Can I suggest you invest sometime understanding how to format and construct an article properly before making these edits again? why you remove my editAmt000 (talk) 02:26, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

You know why as you have had extensive conversation with other editors. It is a possible violation of the policy on living people and gives undue weight to negative material. Please read and understand the policy before adding this again QuiteUnusual (talk) 07:40, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Just to clarify, you're not allowed external links to twitter, linked in or press release pages of the website on Wikipedia? Thanks Steve — Preceding unsigned comment added by SJComm (talkcontribs) 11:24, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

They are allowed but the normal practice is not to include them. If you read WP:EL it explains it fully. QuiteUnusual (talk) 13:05, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 17

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Annika Ström, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Swedish. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Sandy Tanner

Hi,

I've recently put up an article on the Secretary General of the International Young Democrat Union, an organisation with over 80 member organisations in more than 100 countries (including the UK Conservative Party, CDU's Junge Union in Germany, and the Young Republicans in the United States) and I'm not sure why this is being challanged. The article is a supporting article to the IYDU page and provides information on the senior elected officials for several thousand affiliated members.

Can you let me know what additional information you would like me to provide to resolve this?

A year and a half after you opposed my RfA

I am inviting you to leave me some feedback, 18 months after you opposed my RfA. Do you still believe I am not fit to be an admin? Do you believe I have been able to improve past the concerns you have brought up? Do not be afraid of being too harsh, I am specifically welcoming criticism as I believe it is the best way to improve and I am always looking to learn from my mistakes. I am particularly looking for feedback as to whether you have objections to myself lifting the self-imposed 1RR restriction I had agreed to towards the end of my RfA. If you don't have time to comment, don't fret it either, this is nothing I'll lose sleep over. :) ☺ · Salvidrim! ·  19:48, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
