Disadvantaged

You said: As you disputed the prod of Disadvantaged on the article's talk page, I have de-proded it and informed the original prod'ing editor. QuiteUnusual 15:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm disadvanted by not knowing what a prod is! --Mike 15:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

You are appreciated

Dear QuiteUnusual,

I went back to vehicle safety system to have a look at what I posted - I think I had a bit of a grumpy day today. I was up late last night after deciding to have a look at the kind of things that were getting deleted, and got quite annoyed at the lack of any explanation, etc. etc.

You obviously have what I expect is the rather boring task of going through the posts - I can't remember whether my comments got grumpier but if they did - apologies! - But you are appreciated - most of the posts I saw deserved to go and if they all stayed it would be a complete mess!

Someone has directed me to the discussion on deletion policy, I've had my say there, and hopefully some of my suggestions will be taken up. --Mike 16:51, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Emergency Warning System for Vehicles

Thank you for letting me know. I'll go ahead and review their comments, and file an AfD as necessary. --Elonka 18:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I saw that (watchlist) and you're probably right. I'm in the process of afd-ing it right now. Thanks for the heads up, though. Natalie 21:23, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

DoctorMartin

Dear QuiteUnusual, thanks for letting me know about the removal of the AFD for the Barton article. I hadn't realised there had previously been an 'AFD review' for this (I'm relatively new to Wikipedia editing - still finding my way!), and am very happy to abide by this review. As long as there is a significant viewpoint that this article has significant content, that's fine by me 17:30, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Julia Sinédia-Cazour AfD

Hello there,

I noticed you agreed with my prod to delete Julia Sinédia-Cazour. The prod was deleted but I have since listed it for AfD. If you would like to way in, you can do so here. Thanks.--Thomas.macmillan 20:13, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

AfD time again

Thanks for noticing KHL Express recently, when you gave it a prod-2. If you're interested, that bundle of articles is now at AfD [1] after an anonymous objection. --Mereda 07:46, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Articles for creation backlog

Hey. Thanks for the help here. There is an enormous backlog, and it grows faster than I can work on it. Your work here is definitely appreciated.

One note though, generally {{subst:afc top}} goes below the header for a section, as this makes section editing easier. Thanks. -- kenb215 talk 04:37, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

You recently gave Jagmeet Singh Brar a {{prod2}}. In fact, as a former member of India's parliament, he is automatically notable. I cleaned up the article, and I think it's now an acceptable stub. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs)

Fair enough. I couldn't tell he was notable from the article as it stood. QuiteUnusual 15:27, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

User page vandalism

I reverted the Craig Charles' vandal's changes to your user page. He's a regular vandal, normally with an IP suffixed with 58.84. For some reason he always starts at Craig's article which I have watchlisted, so after a quick vandalising spree it's another IP blocked for a day or two... open source funding

I just removed another tag from it , but it will surely be deleted unless someone fixes it. Perhaps you have the time.DGG 23:58, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing this out. It shouldn't be tagged again of course because it has been contested once. Anyway, I've moved it to Funding of open source software as this seems a more appropriate name and done some wikify and cleanup. QuiteUnusual 10:20, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
An article is more than just a blip of nonsense, it requires some properly formatted content - the content in the article remains virtually unchanged. If you want the article to stay, you improve it, I don't want the article to stay, it's a foolish article, but if someone wants to fix it they have to make it into an article, not just renaming it and hoping that that improves it. Should you feel it merits existence, feel free to improve it to the point where it looks like real articles on Wikipedia, pick a featured article to use as a template to see how an article should look and develop it so as to make it worth keeping. Were I someone that liked the article and what it was trying to convey, I would try to improve it, instead I am pointing out how wrong it is and expecting it to either be improved or removed, I don't care which. 74.13.31.42 03:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
I know exactly what a good article should look like. If you want it deleted, you need to raise it at WP:AFD. The deletion proposal was contested, so it cannot be proposed for deletion again - it has to go to AFD. I merely tidied it up a bit and changed it to a more appropriate name. I also don't care if it is deleted or not, it seems pretty trivial to me. The main issue I have is your "expectation". This is a voluntary project, nobody has to do anything. So, if you can't be bothered to clean it up or propose it at AFD, don't expect other people to and don't keep going on about it. QuiteUnusual 10:10, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of LOTUS self defense

An editor has nominated LOTUS self defense, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/LOTUS self defense and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Jayden54Bot 10:58, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

OK I submitted it to afd. I picked it up originally because it was uncategorized and tagged it for deletion on notability grounds. If you can address that issue it would be great. CheersPeter Rehse 10:45, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

USMS / Grammar

Thank you for your interesting comment on my page. I am quite confident that the apostrophe is required. I could be mistaken, or a difference between UK and US English may apply in this case. I would be very interested if you find a reliable source which specifically justifies not using a possesive form in this sort of case. If anyone else agrees/disagreees with me on the USMS page it may also be worth putting our discussion on the USMS talk page. Regards, Mesoso 12:31, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Can you explain what happened here? DOUBLEBLUE (talk) 03:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

As I said in the edit summary, minor style changes. Specifically my intention was:
  • to remove the word "star" as it is POV.
  • to replace "Nik" with "Lewis" in the line that started "In 2006, Nik..."
  • to replace numbers less than 10 with words (e.g., "5" replaced with "five")
Obviously I managed to break the image link as well, which I didn't spot at the time.
Any particular reason you're asking? Unusual? Quite TalkQu 10:13, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Mostly curiosity. It did far more than that. It added spaces all over the place which, in turn, broke the image link and the ref calls you saw but it also broke all the external links and the references tag as well as adding meaningless but harmless spaces elsewhere. I wanted to make sure that you knew that it happened and could prevent its re-occurrence and, if it wasn't an anomaly, find similar edits. I wanted to understand what you were attempting to do since the edit summary said it was minor, "small style change" but all I could see were bad changes.
Thanks for explaining what you were attempting. Do you have any idea how it happened and if it is quite unusual? Cheers! DOUBLEBLUE (talk) 10:56, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Thinking back (and three weeks is a long time for me) it was soon after I installed WikiEdit... Maybe I pushed some of the buttons that "fix" white space, etc.? I haven't seen any other similar problems, but then I stopped pushing the buttons when they didn't help me do what I was trying to do.... Put it down to one-off stupidity (hopefully) - I've looked back at other edits and can't see a systemic problem. I'll play around in the sandbox and see if I can cause the same issues again, then I'll know what went wrong (other than not checking the edit after I'd finished). Thanks for pointing it out. Redirecting another user's pages could be construed as vandalism in my opinion. I know it isn't specifically covered under vandalism but I am ignoring the rules as WP allows. Hello

Hi TalkQu,

A page was created. The information for this page was taken off sources from the web. Originally it was done under one log in. As no email address was used I was not able to get the password and I forgot it. A new account of tangousa was set up to finish off the editing. I had no idea of sock accounts and did not mean to violate the policies. I read all about it and did what was suggested. I retired the first account and have no intention of using it again. If I need to link the accounts, could you do this for me? I asked another person who was impartial to add in as many references as possible to the page as per the maintenace tags. They did this showing their IP again to be open. As they carried out what was needed on the maintenace page they then removed the mentaince tag. You have said this is vandalisim. It was not at all. Over 10 references were added.

You have now put in the chat page that this is a third sock account and we are being spammy. We do not wish to be spammy or to provide content that is not suitable. All information has been verified by sources on the internet. The youtube was a video of the actual person being reffered to.

We are new here and wish to sort this out corrrectly. How would you like this resolved? As per wiki rules it suggests communicating and sorting out the problem. Would you like the page removed? Or would you like parts removed?

I would appreciate it if you feel we have resolved the matter for you to remove the sock puppet accusation from the talk age. This was a genuine mistake and the account has been retired. It will not be repeated. Lastly the maintenace was only removed as we felt we had carried out what was required in the maintenace. Again no intention of vanadalisim was carried out. Again apologies for any inconvience. Please can we resolve this now? You can email me at blueoffer@gmail.com. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tangousa (talkcontribs) 13:44, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

The article is not in correct Wikipedia style. That's not surprising given that you are new. The Wikify tag should remain until the article is in the right format. You should read WP:MOS and its linked pages to understand the right format to use, or leave the tag and someone else will fix it. The COI tag is there because the bulk of this article was created by you and I suspect you are the subject of the article (or closely related to them). If this is the case, the COI tag should remain until the article has been reviewed and worked on by other editors to ensure it has reliable sources (see WP:RS) and meets the criteria for biographies of living people (see WP:BLP). When you read WP:RS you will see that Youtube is not considered reliable because its content is self-published. We have no way of knowing if the person in the video is the person you say, and the Youtube uploader says, they are. Per the policies on living people I mentioned, this means you can't include it in the article. The final problem is the "point of view" tone - see WP:NPOV. The article reads like a self engrandising promotion of the person. Hope this helps. Unusual? Quite TalkQu 14:40, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi Talk Qu

This does help thank you so much. It makes sense. I will not edit the tags again and leave it to a wiki expert! Would you remove the sock reference to the discussion page as this is now fixed? If you could delete your reference now to sock puppet as I have retired the account in question. I dont want to remove your tag without your agreement. Please either remove it or give me the go ahead. I will leave as agreed above the COI and others there. Its just on the talk page as the matter is resolved. Appreciate a response. Thanks Again and thank you so much for all your help and keep up the good work.

Hi Again.

Looks like its now the page has been totally deleted. Oh well. This is very time consuming especially ensuring that one adheres to all the rules. Perhaps the deletion is for the best.

Thanks again —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tangousa (talkcontribs) 22:11, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi, go ahead and remove the sockpuppet tags yourself if you want. I will update the report accordingly.
I can't see from the log why the article was deleted. The reason given was that it was a redirect to the user space, which suggests somebody changed the page to point to a user page and then requested it was deleted. You can ask the admin who deleted it to explain why - here [2]. Unusual? Quite TalkQu 22:16, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah, Guy moved it to your user page here [3] Unusual? Quite TalkQu 22:22, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi I dont want to break any rules so can you explain to me does this mean that as it was moved to my user page, (or the user page of my now retired account that I cant use it under the original heading? If so am I allowed to put in brief info. Whats the deal and do I need permission and from who? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tangousa (talkcontribs) 23:35, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Your user page is where you write about yourself and how you plan to contribute here. There's guidance at WP:USERPAGE. The person who moved it presumed that the article you wrote was about you - in which case it should probably be on your user page. If you are notable enough for an article (see WP:N) then it is usally best to let other people write it. However, you can write it youself. If you decide to do this, then you could edit it in "user space" (where it is now) then ask other editors to have a look to check it has no obvious conflict of interest before moving it back to the "main space". You don't have to do this, it's just a suggestion. You can edit it where it is, or copy it into your new account user space, or ask the admin who first moved it if he will delete your new account's user page so that it can moved there instead. Alternatively you can move it to a "subpage" of your user space. See WP:SUBPAGE on how to do this. Unusual? Quite TalkQu 23:42, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
