Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Hudson Square, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Hudson Square and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 21:55, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I dont have time to change it right now, but I will tomorrow morning. Please dont delete this quite yet, I spent hours on it. Just give me some time to improve it. At worst, I'll just take out everytihng about the restaurants and businesses and just keep it bare bones. a neighborhood is defined by the people who live there, and therefore only mass participation can give a good sense of a neighborhood really. give me a day to improve it a little, but I have to go to work now and i'd be upset if it were gone when I got home!Madelkaye (talk) 22:23, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you would like to develop an article on Wikipedia before "going live" with it, you may do so in a subpage of your userspace, for example User:Madelkaye/Hudson Square. Articles being actively developed in user space for inclusion in the encyclopedia are by convention not edited or modified by other users so long as it is not obviously being used to circumvent inclusion policies. In the event that your article is deleted, please consider drafting your article there. This will give you time to gather more independent sources.—WAvegetarian (talk) 22:40, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I did not delete the article, because it is not hopeless promotional . But there are two things necessary. First, everything must be sourced with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. the major NYC newspapers and magazines would be the appropriate place to look. Second, it would be much better to limit the listings to those businesses and organizations that have articles in Wikipedia, as some of them do, and make references to their articles; for how to do this, and more generally what we expect, please read our guide to writing Wikipedia articles. I advise you to do this very quickly, before the article gets nominated for deletion by a regular deletion process. DGG ( talk ) 22:48, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
