Are you a relative of Reid ? In my personal opinion, having too many of those categories seem over the top but I can't see why the details of death should be avoided. Reid is a famous person (at least for us cricket history buffs), the details have been quoted from a well known book by the finest historian of the present time and this is about something that happened 70 years ago. Thanks for your response. Yes, he was my great grandfather's brother. We have living relatives who knew uncle Norman and his wife. As a family history buff, I have a more rounded view of his whole story, not just the cricket that you are interested in. Further, the text is distasteful in its disregard of Norman's wife as just his "mentally unstable wife". Maclearite
Hmm, okay. I wrote the original version and in retrospect, it does look like I was insensitive. The phrase used in Frith's book is "wound was inflicted by his wife while of unsound mind". When I paraphrased it, it became worse. The editing is an impersonal work, only in times like this that you notice that it has real-world impact. The latest version looks more balanced. Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate what you have said as well as your interest in Norman. Maclearite 0:45, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
