A tag has been placed on River Dove, South Yorkshire, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Proposed deletion of Dreamland resort[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dreamland resort, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Likely non-notable website

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Groom Lake Road, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.dreamlandresort.com/area51/gl_road.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Copyright policy advisement regarding articles[edit]

Dear LordNatonstan, regarding your contribution to Groom Lake Road, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from web sites or printed material without the express permission of the author or copyright holder. This article appears to be a direct copy from this URL: http://www.dreamlandresort.com/area51/gl_road.html As a copyright violation, the article has been deleted under the speedy deletion criteria.

If you choose to recreate the article, please ensure that the material is written in your own words. If you believe that using sentences from the source is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at the talk page of the new article and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GNU Free Documentation License, or released into the public domain leave a note at the talk page of the new article with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material, you may either send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to <permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the talk page of the article, or place a note releasing the material as above at the external site. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions.

Thank you. – Toon(talk) 19:08, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WTF This is not true I have the book in front of me and copyed it out from the Book, this website just gets more and more lame..

Welcome, and suggestions[edit]

Hello LordNatonstan, I'd like to welcome you, first, as it appears nobody has done so yet. Welcome! Please take a look through the help pages, as they will assist you in your editing here. I would like to mention an issue I've noted with your edits, that of spelling and capitalization. Please keep in mind that an encyclopedia does not capitalize things that are not proper nouns, and you will see in this fix I made to a page you created, you've improperly capitalized multiple items that are not proper nouns, as you did here and here for just a few examples. Some other things to keep in mind are how Wikipedia formats things like song titles, book names, etc., the notability guidelines, as well as the biographies of living persons policy, which requires reliable sources when writing about living people for verification. It should be noted that forums, personal sites, fan sites, and things like IMDB or tv.com are not considered reliable news sources.

Additionally, Wikipedia has a very strict copyright policy for obvious reasons. You cannot simply copy and paste information from other sites into articles, or to create new articles, as you did with Hollywood Causes Cancer (which is a word-for-word copy/paste from this site. Also, if a flag is placed on the article, you should not simply remove it as you did here, without fixing the issues, as that is keeping the copyright violation on the site. I've restored the copyright violation tag, and I encourage you to find a way to word the article in your own words, without copying from any other sites, or it is likely to be deleted.

It would be a good idea to go through the manual of style to help you with learning. I hope this helps you understand a bit more about editing, and feel free to ask at the help desk if you have any questions. Cheers! ArielGold 07:17, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

May 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Hollywood Causes Cancer. As stated above: Do not remove copyright violation tags without first addressing the copyright violation. Wikipedia takes copyright laws seriously, and cannot accept material that is taken from other websites, as you've done with this article. The material you submitted is a word-for-word copy/paste from http://www.randomhouse.ca/catalog/display.pperl?isbn=9781400052776&view=print , violating the policy. ArielGold 12:43, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But I never copied it from any site I simply used the Information form the back cover of the book... Just because a site also has done this doesn't mean I've copied it from that site, that's why I'm annoyed LordNatonstan (talk) 15:41, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is word-for-word from the above URL, whether that website also copied it from a book cover or not, so you could not possibly have used your own words. Whether you copied it word-for-word from the back of a book, or from a website does not matter. The fact remains, you copied it and it is a copyright violation. It needs to be changed, please, or the article will risk deletion. ArielGold 16:16, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Freely licensed images[edit]

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'file' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

A tag has been placed on Lick It Up - A Millennium Tribute To Kiss requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. A tag has been placed on A Tribute to the Creatures of the Night requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. A tag has been placed on Exo-Terra, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. File copyright problem with File:AmericanAlligatorTeeth.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:AmericanAlligatorTeeth.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
