GA[edit]

I've nominated this article for GA status, but I just wanted a quick opinion on it before it's reviewed in case there's something terribly wrong with it that I didn't notice. And I'm so terrified of the Kittehmaster on the 'New Section' screen. :P [oh, and when I pressed 'show preview', instead of the usual this is just a preview writing, I saw saved! I had a miniature heart attack, as I hadn't a summary!! TopGearFreak 20:44, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! Ok, I'm on it. :P Pianisita.Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 20:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(e/c)Great to hear, TGF! But I think Eddie would be the man when it comes to GA's and FA's; he leaves notes at WP:GAN all the time. I'll leave an...uh, eye-catching edit summary that he won't miss. He's online now - I just stalked casually browsed through his recent contribs. —La Pianista (TCS) 20:48, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(after) Amazing. Simply amazing. —La Pianista (TCS) 20:49, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
After a quick run through, I'd put it on hold...

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
a couple issues throughout; nothing major. Poke Pianista enough and maybe she'll fix them for you. :P
    B. MoS compliance:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
make sure that (a) every sentence in there is covered by a ref (unless consecutive sentences are covered by one ref, then they can go at the end of the last sentence that is covered...and (b) everything is covered by an in-line citation.
    C. No original research:
Is basically the entire "Music and Lyrics" section OR? (not sure)
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    FURs look ok.
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:

Hope this helped you :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 20:58, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I agree. I'm not exactly an expert, but the cites need a bit more coverage. And I've done a little c/e-ing - no poking needed, thank you. darn that Eddie, with that head still in the gutter and elsewheres...La Pianista (TCS) 21:03, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks... I'll keep my fingers crossed. TopGearFreak 21:03, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, only when you're online with some Texan chick. *cough, cough*La Pianista (TCS) 21:11, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Noooooo never. :P —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, sorry, a Texan piano-playing chick. You know, the piano is just a guy-magnet - I let my hair down, play something sexy by Chopin, and get more "Can I have your numberrrr?" than anything else. :P —La Pianista (TCS) 23:41, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wait - that is a bad thing? Or would you rather get girls with that...? :DEd 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:42, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Depends on how you look at it. *shiftyeyes* —La Pianista (TCS) 23:43, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And so just how do you look at it? ;) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:44, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
...As a very bad thing. :} —La Pianista (TCS) 23:45, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All-righty. ;)
Don't sweat it - it'll stay in "Recently featured" for about three days more. ;) —La Pianista (TCS) 00:05, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know xD. Thank god for Parsecboy - with exams, I won't be able to keep an eye on the article! —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 00:09, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BA 2[edit]

Hello. Just a thank you for copyediting the article. I suspect I am guilty of many of the errors you corrected -- c/e is not my strongest point. I started to give the article a major overhaul a few months ago and added many sources. This is what it looked like before I started.

The entire music and lyrics section isn't completely OR. As far as I am aware, anything in it now (about the lyrics, anyway) is interpretive is sourced. The JPStalk to me 00:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good job there - I've always admired in-depth article-builders. :)
Yes, it seems to need a few sources. Although it isn't entirely OR, it still needs a handful more cites.
And you're welcome. I'm far from finished, though - I haven't yet finished the last few sections, and my look was only cursory. —La Pianista (TCS) 00:39, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't (and still haven't =/) looked at what info wasn't cited - if it's taken from the lyrics, it may not need a citation. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 00:46, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Print screen[edit]

Where does it save the picture to when I hit "Print screen"? —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It saves it onto your clipboard. If you're using Windows, open Microsoft Word or other program and paste it on. —La Pianista (TCS) 23:28, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
 Done <3! —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:37, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Much <3 back, as always. ;) So, are you going to print it out/frame it? :D —La Pianista (TCS) 23:43, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You could have taken a permanent link. It'd be umm... neat than a screen-shot wouldn't it? Chamal talk 01:00, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think Ed would be able to print and frame a permalink...will he? :) —La Pianista (TCS) 01:04, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No permalink - all of those are transcluded. :P —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 01:05, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yeah. Like at P:CLM and all the other portals-a-thingies. —La Pianista (TCS) 01:07, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Never trust what a woman says until they actually do it, ed. Take it from the experienced one. Which means 99% of the time you'll be already dead or insane bibliomaniac15 02:39, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. Really?
So...you trust me? Obviously I can say the same. You know my name and my IP. -_-La Pianista (TCS) 05:57, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(Somewhat sadly), yes. And sorry about that; I didn't mean for you to reveal those to me... Well, the IP was so you fault. :D :D :D Don't worry, I won't use them against you - I promise. Sorry about compromising that internet security...Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 06:02, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nah. Oddly...A) I feel I can trust you, too - in fact, as much as I can bring myself to trust someone over the Internets - and B) it's not really compromised - looked through the WHOIS and it says I'm in Dallas, which is completely not true. But do you sit in you room and edit Wikipedia for most of the say, leaving only to go to class and eat? I mean, I have nothing better to do, but still... —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 04:20, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(out)LOOK! You just told me more about yourself. :P —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 05:42, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(e/c)(out) Psh. That's better than some of the other guys/gals I know who only look forward to fartin' around when they finish school - at least you have goals! :)
Nonetheless, amazingly, I'm a real quiet type irl. Like at Thanksgiving, everyone was at the dinner table, including myself, and having conversations about their lives, family, etc. Me? Smiling at jokes, eating turkey, smiling, eating, smiling, eating, and so on until someone mentions one of my recent recitals and "PANG!" my mouth starts moving! Despicable, since I never wanted to be a piano nerd who talks about nothing but piano and Wikipedia, but...yeah. —La Pianista (TCS) 05:44, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Piano nerd"..lawl :) Hey, at least you eat! :D
I win this - I wrote about Wikipedia in my term paper for English ... in three different parts. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 05:47, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hard not to, being a Texan. Takes especial effort to maintain a figure in the South.
Props to the 'holic. I think I wrote a small paper once - two pages. -_- —La Pianista (TCS) 05:49, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
10 page paper for International Relations last week... -_- —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 05:52, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(after) -_- So? I believe I've...ah...showed you so much more, haven't I? Like the time you listened to me and we brought it on the piano...remember? I was literally sandwiched between my two loves </deliberately grossing you out> —La Pianista (TCS) 05:46, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL! Yeah, but you couldn't play that piano after that because of how good that experience was... ;D
I just meant that you showed me that you were in college, that's all. :P —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 05:52, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was my playing that got you in the first place...and the piano did play itself, then, with the occasional plink-plink whenever you got too excited... :P
No, not yet. I take only piano there because, well...I'm gifted. Ooo.La Pianista (TCS) 05:55, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ROFL! Alright, not more before I find Icy coming after me with a scythe. :)
O.O You are good, aren't you! Holy crap! —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 05:59, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, if you say so...But there will always be tommorow night. :}
I try to keep it hushie-hushie, so it won't be too ego-tistical or whatev, but...yeah. *serious blush* It's a good life, but sometimes the old ladies my Grandmaw's friends with start pulling me around to gatherings and such-like, trying to introduce "Oh, she's so-and-so's granddaughter, and she plays so-and-so. Do you want to hear?" Without even asking me! -_- —La Pianista (TCS) 06:03, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So be a show-off and show them how good you are! Don't you love positive comments? And I might not comment again tonight - a few more things to do on here, and then it's off to shower and bed. :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 06:09, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Noooo....I've learned from that. Long story short, that's how I met the Pianista-lustful ass. 'Twas at a recital - he, getting all into himself with his fancy-shmancy étude (with tons of mistakes, btw), and when I came onstage, it was like he never saw a woman before. Just...ew. Having to put up with it ever since.
But I'll leave you be - good luck with the editing and all. :) —La Pianista (TCS) 06:14, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As they say, you don't rape your instrument, you make love to it. bibliomaniac15 06:16, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
*rolls eyes* And how would you know that? Have you ever made sweet love to a piano before? I doubt it. Learn some Rach - then we'll talk. —La Pianista (TCS) 06:17, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just because I don't have the word "piano" or some variant in my name, doesn't mean I don't have the libido. Rachmaninoff is pretty good, but I prefer Debussy. bibliomaniac15 01:18, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(<-) Aa--rrgghhh my eyes...my vomit... Actually, I think I'm dealing with this better now... I think I'd prefer to stick to Chopin before taking on Rach... Prokofiev's pwn, though. Yah. Oh, you wanted the scythe? -looks around for scythe- Icy // 00:50, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

@ Biblio: Debussy? Psh. Rach and Chopin pwn Debussy any day. Beethoven pwns all. Nothing sexier than Beethoven.
@ Icy: Strangely, I haven't taken much of Prokofiev 'cept the little pieces when I was wee. And...heh, I nabbed your scythe when you weren't looking. :P —La Pianista (TCS) 02:41, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I will stop chasing you around and keep you around as my muse instead. I've been in dire need of one ever since Clio left. Adieu, my Melisande. I have played Golaud for far too long. bibliomaniac15 03:30, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The snow story (p.s. I made this story up)[edit]

It was the winter; Alex and Jayden loved to have snowball fights. Some of the other neighborhood kids, Nathan and Joseph, also loved to play with the two. It was always an equal team and everybody was good sports. The adults would walk by laughing as Nathan creamed Alex on the face with a big snowball or when Jayden would throw snowballs at Joseph and Nathan’s fort until it fell down. Every week the four would play and laugh as the snowballs whizzed here and there. Every week the adults would walk by chortling, and every week a kid called Tom would sit on a bench watching and enjoy the snowball fight, as if he was watching TV. Then one week Alex got very sick. He could not come to the big snowball fight. The group was very sad and began walking home, when Nathan spotted Tom. Nathan asked eagerly if he wanted to play, maybe if he did they could continue there snowball fun. Tom looked at Nathan and shyly said, “Yes!” The group cheered and as Tom joined Jayden’s team they had one of the best snowball fights ever. Boy, if only Alex was there, but wait when Alex recovers from his sickness and the teams are unequal, and then what will they do? The next week the group of five sat down and talked about the teams. Then a young teenager walked by, hearing there conversation, and then answering, “I’d love to play, may I join?!” Without another word the group said, “Yes!”--Spittlespat 01:15, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eddie, I could most surely smooch you on the cheek now (not for gross/perverted reasons, btw). Thanks so much! It's nothing NOTHING at all. Stuff like that is common, very common for a gnome. :) —La Pianista (TCS)
Be careful - the Kittehmaster is watching you...
Not gross or perverted reasons? LOOK OUT! She's changing! Run! :O
To you, it's common. To me, it's above and beyond the call. Thanks, pal. :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 22:58, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Ed - can't express how much you impress this much-below-your-level c/e-er here. Must again applaud your skills. And must pet the Kittehmaster. Why do I always leave the 'I' out of my sentences? I never say "I agree with Ed..." or "I must again applaud".... eh? Icy // 23:00, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Icy. ;P Even the petting part - I want to pick him up and cuddle with the kitten.
Good question - I do the same thing... —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:03, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
@ 1st Ed: Are you sure? It could start with the innocent smooches. Then the kisses travel to different places...then -lapse in transmission- of the -lapse in transmission-. And then your and my -lapse in transmission- until -lapse in transmission-. :}
@ Icy: Oy, and just as I was sickening you so... Thanks bunches for that. :)
@ Second Ed: You wish to pet the kitten? All right, but be careful - he's just opened his eyes and already knows a world of evil. —La Pianista (TCS) 00:32, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Just wow. I don't know how to reply to that this time.....dork. :D
A world of evil created by YOU! —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 01:11, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Um, yeah. Is there anything shocking about that? —La Pianista (TCS) 01:18, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 03:29, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Not really"? So you acknowledge my supreme evilness? —La Pianista (TCS) 05:51, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
DEAR, seriously. Think about this. I would never acknowledge that becuase it is simply not true. Evil, yes. Supreme evil, no. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 05:55, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(out, e/c x 2) Winter lovin' had me a blast - Winter lovin', happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me - I met a boy, cute as can be
Winter days driftin' away, to uh-oh those winter nights
...
Tell me more, tell me more, was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more, did she put up a fight?
Took her bowlin' in the Arcade - we went strollin', drank lemonade
We made out under the dock - we stayed up until ten o'clock
Winter thing don't mean a thing, but uh-oh those winter nights
...
He got friendly, holdin' my hand - well she got friendly, down in the sand
He was sweet, just turned eighteen - well she was good, you know what I mean
winter cold, boy and girl meet, but uh-oh those winter nights

-gasp- Really?!!! (Now help me with those Ayumi Hamasaki singles, Spittle...) Icy // 01:03, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, look at it this way Spittle. They contribute a lot to articles and also the project space, which makes them kind of valuable to the project, so they can get away with a bit of fooling around. If you don't have a lot of contributions to articles and most of your edits are in the userspace, the odds are against you. The blocking admin will not take it kindly if you say "hey, I do correct spelling mistakes in articles once in a while", while making substantial edits in userspace. Besides, it's different from what you're doing; writing stories is completely unrelated to Wikipedia, while their "discussion" *ahem* are at least remotely related in some way to Wikipedia. Chamal talk 01:06, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
@ Spittle: And that is supposed to be...disturbing?
@ Icy: Great move - again, props, major props. ;)
@ Chamal: Thanks muchly! Aww...defending us while I was afk. But "remotely related" might still be stretching it a bit... :) —La Pianista (TCS) 02:39, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A bit? Naw, I say that it isn't related at all (=]), though the conversations occasionally upgrade themselves into discussions about WP at times... —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 02:41, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right. I'm just...uh, "taking advantage" of Ed before he leaves on the morrow. —La Pianista (TCS) 02:44, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
@Ed: That counts as "remotely related". Chamal talk 11:58, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay then; sometimes eventually if-we-try-hard-enough remotely related. —La Pianista (TCS) 21:25, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alfred Wegener[edit]

I hate to bee mean to Wikipedia, but I have to say, I have never seen a article written so poorly! (e/c)And, Spittle, I've been skimming through your contribs at Alfred Wegener, and noticed a few things. First, you might not want to add "autumn" or other irrelevant links - see WP:OVERLINK. Basically, that draws attention away from more important links that are central to understanding the article. Secondly, when you add facts, it is best to add a reference from where you found it. You can use the templates {{cite web}} and {{cite book}} to name a few. :)
