Adding blog links to articles[edit]

Sour s'dey Khmermusic, it's great to have you here on Wikipedia. We need more editors working on articles about Cambodia. There's a bit of a problem with the links to the Oudam music blog that you have been adding to articles. Wikipedia has a policy about not allowing Spam and about the types of external links that should be added to Wikipedia articles. So unfortunately I've removed all the Oudam links for now. I realise that the Cambodia article has a lot of strange links right now - but it's on the list for clean-up and they will be gone soon. It would be good if you could try some other edits apart from adding Oudam links to articles - otherwise it looks as though you are mostly here to promote another website. Please feel free to leave me a message here or on my talk page if you have any questions. Have a great day and hope to see you 'round. Paxse 13:53, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rebuttal[edit]

Oudam.com is a well respected resource for Cambodian news, culture, music and society. The site boasts over 30,000 visitors and some 250,000 pageviews per month. There are many Cambodian websites that belong in the external links section that have been removed. Some of the ones that are left are far less useful than www.oudam.com and some of the other sites that have been removed. Your recent clean-up is rather arbitrary and does not add to the value of the Wikipedia Cambodia article.

I absolutely agree. I enjoy Oudam myself and I'm one of those 30k pageviews each month. I also enjoy Khmer music (as long as it's old/decent) and I've been visiting the site for a while. Unfortunately, Wikipedia has some very strict policies about linking. Have a read of - Wikipedia:External Links - linking to blogs generally is out, even good ones like Oudam. So the clean out (which was waaaay overdue) was just to bring the article in line with this policy. I didn't actually get around to cleaning the Cambodia links, another editor beat me to it :) I see you've been adding music articles - that's excellent there are so many missing Khmer articles. Shame it was deleted. Cheers, Paxse 17:10, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Nop Bayarith[edit]

A tag has been placed on Nop Bayarith, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ford MF 04:58, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Preapsovath.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Preapsovath.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:10, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Adding blog links to articles III[edit]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Angkor Wat. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Adding blog links to articles IV[edit]

Once again, I see that you are adding links to the Oudam.com blog in various articles after they were removed several times. As I have pointed out, this is not acceptable either as external links to an article or by quoting the blog owner's reaction to Angkor Wat failing to make the list of New Seven Wonders of the World. The text and reference you added from a wire service article is acceptable and is an entirely appropriate source for Cambodian reaction. This text and reference has been retained and the text on Oudam.com has been removed. I would really suggest that you stop adding links to Oudam.com and work on some other content.
