HI[edit]

I was looking through all the collaboration projects. They're all dead (thinks it's depressing). And a quick question:

  • On my user page, how do I get the status bot to know whether I'm on or not?

Thanks Mm40 (talk) 22:54, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. Sorry. Mm40 (talk) 22:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orginization of effort.[edit]

On my user page, I have the chart mapping the amount of copy-editing needed. Do you think there is a way to organize an effort to lower that? By a lot. And have you figured that I like to go big? Mm40 (talk) 02:01, 15 March 2008 (UTC) Thanks.[reply]

How would one go about this? Mm40 (talk) 20:59, 15 March 2008 (UTC) Thanks.[reply]

Samantha Minns[edit]

Why on earth did you delete the article Samantha Minns. Don't you know who she is? she is a famous dancer she is just as famous as hilary duff yet you stll keep her on wikipeadia. people have to do bio.s on her for assinments and people come here first bring back Samantha Minns —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fishface332 (talkcontribs) 03:52, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My signature is now this: Mm40 what do you want? Your Hancock please 02:09, 18 March 2008 (UTC). Two questions:[reply]

1. How do I get my talk page link (what do you want?), to work?

2. How can I make what do you want? (Talk page) and Your Hancock here (sig. book) small? Like "Leave Me a Message" in your signature.

Mm40 what do you want? Your Hancock please 02:09, 18 March 2008 (UTC) Thanks.[reply]

hi kerotan[edit]

I create several Articles and hope to be a good contributor for Wikipedia. So i hope you will help me for that. Thank You ShEsH (talk) 09:51, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure you really should have transcluded it though. It's unsigned for one, so is malformed, and normally the candidate or nominator would transclude. I only decliend deletion at this time in case the candidate was coming back to fix it up ....Pedro :  Chat  12:19, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Kerotan[edit]

Thank you very much about help me to make articles in good standard. I'm really appreciate that you have done. Thank You again.. Have a nice day.. ShEsH (talk) 12:33, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism vs. Content dispute[edit]

Hey there, just wanted to let you know that a edit summary would have been a good idea here opposed to just reverting the edit as vandalism. It looks like the IP in question feels that this content is accurate but lacks to proper source to verify it, and maybe stating that in the edit summary, along with leaving a personalized message on their talk would have been the better route to take. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 23:39, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I also noticed that you reverted a edit by a user on this now deleted article, the edit was in fact the creator of the article blanking the article, which as long as there has been no other substantial edits to the article, the blanking should not be reverted and instead tagged for speedy deletion under G7 (author requested or blanked). cheers, Tiptoety talk 23:46, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, in regards to the deleted article, it appears to just be a mistake and there is no real harm done. In regards to the other article, I would still continue to put in a edit summary even if the user you are reverting continues because otherwise it can appear to be a edit war. Once you have reverted leave messages on the users (or IP's) talk page and if they continue after a few warnings (making sure they disruptively edit after some sort of final warning mind you) then report to WP:AIV as such, if it is a large content dispute WP:ANI or WP:MEDCAB would be a better place. Cheers, Tiptoety talk 23:57, 27 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

backscratcher[edit]

How much do you really know about the history of backscratchers. Very little I presume. What I wrote was not vandalism. It was simply a brief and accurate history of the backscratcher.

Image placeholder for other animals?[edit]

I would much appreciate your help in making this image placeholder for butterflies. Rather than a male or female head, a small butterfly shadow in a square (200 pixels on a side?) would be fine. Many thanks, --Wloveral (talk) 20:33, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clicking on the placeholder box takes me to the right place, but I always have to return to the data section of the image page and re-do the copyright status or release. Your butterfly species image placeholder template is, however, the greatest thing since sliced bread. Many thanks, --Wloveral (talk) 21:54, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In experimenting with your butterfly image placeholder. I get extra text coming through as caption (?). Would you check my sandbox at User:Wloveral/Sandboxes to see what is amiss? Many thanks; --Wloveral (talk) 18:58, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
By golly, I think you have turned the trick. That's great-just what I was aiming for. BTW, can you design a userbox for me? "This user is not too proud to call/ask for HELP!" Ideally, it should have a picture of me trying to understand how to format images with all the piped parameters like |thumb|center|frame|30px ... Many thanks. --Wloveral (talk) 20:31, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the Userbox. It is a real fine addition. You should post it to the new Userbox page (wherever that may be). Maybe you should make a new one for your user space: "This User answers cries for Help." All best wishes, Bill --Wloveral (talk) 23:36, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You flagged my article for deletion![edit]

Hey

Im pretty new to contributing to wiki, and just made my first article on Peta the former cabinet mouser. Horror of horrors a message comes up flagging it for deletion! Don't get me wrong I'm not offended or anything, as there is admittedly a lot of crap and inaccuracy that manages to work its way into this great resource and it's brilliant that there are people who have the decency to ensure wikipedia remains a reliable accurate resource.

Anyway the Chief Mouser exists! Its the official title of the cat of the Prime Minister, and its a paid job! Peta was the mid 60's to late 70's cat at Downing Street and most of what I put on the new page is contained elsewhere within Wikipedia. It's not referenced well cos I'm experimenting, literally just as I got your message I was mucking about with editing tools figuring out how to add proper references. This probably means I should read instructions proper, but I thought I'd take a hands on approach.

Yours

Ultimate_(sport) dedicated wiki[edit]

Hi Kerotan - this is in response to your comment. You mentioned that you were interested in starting an Ultimate related wiki, but before you do, I would like to point out Ultipedia, a mediawiki based wiki already dedicated to the sport. I set up and maintain Ultipedia, though I don't have the time to contribute as much content as I'd like, but I do keep the software up to date. There are many areas that could use attention, especially from a seasoned Wikipedian. Also note that Ultipedia uses the GFDL, so if you really decide to create a new project you can use the content there to seed your own site. Ivasara (talk) 11:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I left some rather lengthy comments on the talk page of Wikipedia Spotlight in regards to your co-ordinatorship of the project, as well as a response to some of the issues that you raised. Just letting you know of that. :) --JamieS93 17:48, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help page patrol[edit]

Hi Kerotan. As you're listed listed on Wikipedia:Help Page Patrol, I thought you might be interested in a discussion regarding the use of the {{resolved}} template. Editors have argued that it slows the loading time down through the use of graphics in particular, and also it is sometimes incorrectly placed, leaving some editors with an incomplete or incorrect response. Please express your thoughts at Wikipedia talk:Help desk#Recent constant use of the resolved template. Thanks, and keep up the good work. PeterSymonds (talk) 17:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Outback[edit]

There is nothing in the article that has anything to do with aborigines in the first place - most of that was not necessary - the issue is that it was a eurpoean construct anyways. SatuSuro 09:44, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So, I made a *slight* mistake.[edit]

I was trying to isolate a username bug, at the WP:ACC tool [1], when this happened:

Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)

I meant to zap user 109... Guess who user 100 is....

Really, really sorry for the mistake, and, if you re-register, I'll get you set back up under your old UID asap! SQLQuery me! 19:37, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

review preview button[edit]

Hi and thanks for your interest in the Solon page. Regarding use of preview button before saving, is this to save the save function from overuse? Certainly I don't want to make waves. However, I find when I am doing an extensive edit that the page sometimes expires if I delay saving it. Sometimes when I try to save a lot of material there is an edit clash and all the work is lost. Hence I have now developed the habit of saving small edits even when I am making extensive changes. Lucretius (talk) 08:24, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot on the image-lesson. My user page is comig together already, I can feel it! I put up an image of a lion (because I'm a Leo) until I find a better image to put there (maybe). Artichoke-Boy (talk) 22:49, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there anything else I can do realated to that? Thanks for all your help. Artichoke-Boy (talk) 16:26, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA[edit]

Trust me, I understand your reasoning for wanting to withdraw . It's actually commendable when you see that there are some users who wish to see some form of improvement. From what I saw, you're a good editor. I definitely think you should reapply in the future though. I withdrew my oppose because I didn't think it was fair to you or your nominators to sidetrack the RfA with petty arguments, which is what my oppose and Rudget's neutral seemed to be doing. Good luck in the future. And if you ever want to drop me line for anything, don't hesitate. Cheers! Wisdom89 (T / C) 20:25, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the day[edit]

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:49, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
