Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{Help me}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Placing templates

Template messages vary in their placement. For example, a {{merge}} notice goes at the top of the article, but the {{stub}} message goes at the bottom. Read the documentation at the bottom of a template for instructions on how to make use of it.

To add this auto-updating template to your user page, use {{totd}}

Hello, Katie Millman

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username SunDawn, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Bobby Leigh, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|SunDawn}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Potential conflict of interest at Bobby Leigh[edit]

Hello. As I mentioned on Talk:Bobby Leigh, you have added information to Bobby Leigh which is not supported by any source. If you have first-hand knowledge of Leigh, such as because you know him personally, or have been provided this information by him (or his agent) to write an article for him, you may have a conflict of interest. I will leave a template message which explains some of the pitfalls of editing with a conflict of interest. Please note that if you are compensated for editing, you must disclose this to comply with Wikipedia's terms of service. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 23:07, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Greyfell. No I am not compensated nor do I actually know him personally. I simply know of him and have seen him speak at questions and answer sessions. I am eager to learn this exciting platform. I will review your tiop and again, Thank you.````` Katie Millman (talk) 01:40, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Katie Millman. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Bobby Leigh, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 23:07, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you again Greyfell. I will review my citations and content. ```` Katie Millman (talk) 12:46, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

October 2022[edit]

Information icon Hi Katie Millman! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Bobby Leigh that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Username[edit]

Hello, Katie Millman,

I was looking over the Bobby Leigh article and saw on the talk page that you are concerned about your username. If you would like to change it, you can make a request at Wikipedia:Changing username. I know that after I had been editing for a month or so, I decided to change my own username. At this point, it can be hard to find good usernames that aren't already taken but see that as a creative challenge!

Also, I see you were getting peppered with questions on the article talk page and a lot of policy pages were brought up that you might not be familiar with yet. If you ever have questions about editing on Wikipedia, about editing with a conflict-of-interest (if one exists) or any other Wikipedia policies, Teahouse|the Teahouse is a great place to get advice and support from experienced editors. I visited there a lot when I got frustrated when I first started editing and it really helped me get through some tough times. It was also suggested on the article talk page that you might want to work on this article in Draft space where it is less likely to be tagged for deletion. Draft space is a good place to create and develop articles without worrying that they get deleted. Good luck! Liz Read! Talk! 02:08, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, Liz, This is the first friendly message I have received. You are spot on. I am brand new. Just learning and trying to figure it all out. There is so much to learn, however I am determined to come out ahead. Liz, Thank you so much for your kind words. That is so sweet and I really needed that now.
Liz, I've been registered about 2-3 months. Do you think I should change my user name? I am thinking about starting my next article on my uncle. But that is a daunting task. I sometimes wonder if I'm gonna get stuff from people that don't like me. Katie Millman (talk) 05:37, 31 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
