Hi Julimorganmusic, and welcome to Wikipedia! I've written some advice on editing here for students in Prof. Jackson's similar classes at Longy School of Music which you might find helpful. When you leave a message here or on any other talk page, be sure to sign it by typing ~~~~ (4 tildes with no spaces between them) at the end. When you click save, the Wikipedia software will automatically convert that show your user name and your talk page (with links to them) as well as the date and time when you signed. WP:SIGN has more about all the ins and outs of that.

You might also be interested in WikiProject Classical music and WikiProject Composers. They have various guidelines for articles in this area and talk pages where you can ask advice from editors experienced in writing articles on classical music and related subjects. Randall Smith[edit]

Hi Voceditenore! I'm so grateful for your comments and suggestions. I am going to try writing an article about Randall Smith, the founder of Mesa Amplification. I haven't found tons of information about him but I have a good start. I've found sources on youtube, nice articles on the Mesa Engineering website, and some features in guitar magazines. Hi Juli! You may have difficulty with a standalone article. If it gets taken to AfD, it's hard to predict for certain that it would be kept. Note that while articles on his company's website can be used to verify certain basic facts, they will not attest to notability for a standalone article. YouTube videos (I presume you are referring to this Mesa series) are fine as external links, but not suitable as references. This is the kind of source that would be good for attesting to his personal notability. This one too. However, most of the material I've seen has very little biographical information on him and relates almost entirely to his work at Mesa and his founding of the company. When was he born? Where? I gather he went to UC Berkeley, but what did he study? When did he graduate? I think a safer plan would be to incorporate a biography of him as a separate section in Mesa Boogie and we could make a redirect page for his name to that section. You could also take the opportunity to provide referencing for the Products section. By the end the newly expanded article with the founder's biography and better referencing would be a valuable addition to the encyclopedia. Also, if sufficient further biographical sources eventually emerge, the section on Smith can be always be split off to a standalone article later. Hope that helps. Hello Voceditenore. I apologize for my mistake this morning. Thank you for watching out for us. I'm going to work on my draft and get it nice before I put it up on my sandbox. I sent a message to the Mesa Boogie company last night asking if Randall Smith might be interested in answering a few questions about his life. They replied and asked if I could send him the questions they would pass them onto him. I may get some good information! But what should I list as my source? Would a personal interview count? Hi Juli. Unfortunately, only material which has been previously published can be used to source articles, and especially articles on living persons. Re:copyright content[edit]

Hi Julimorganmusic, I noticed that in the draft you're working on, at least some of the content was unencyclopedic in tone, and appears to be copied directly from other sources (see http://www.gammaelectronics.xyz/stereoph_1-1997_Mesa_Engineering.html). Hi Juli. 2601:188:1:AEA0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 is right. Even draft/note pages on Wikipedia are subject to copyright restrictions. I've rewritten the material pasted from here for you. Best to keep that sort of stuff in an off-wiki file. Alternatively, and much better for avoiding close-paraphrasing in the finished draft is to make an outline of the facts only in your sandbox/draft (no adjectives; no phrases; just the facts, in chronological order if it is a biography) and add a link to the original source of each piece of information.
