A tag has been placed on Whineskin, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Eggishorn 21:21, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I read your message on my talk page. You might have made a case that it is not advertising, but in the future you should also make such arguments on the talk page of the article itself. I can't delete any articles; I'm not an administrator. I can only put a tag on the page that causes it to be listed on a page that administrators use. The administrator makes a separate determination of whether to delete an article, taking into account comments on the article's talk page. They won't really look at my talk page, so you can see where your reasons will have the most impact.
Similarly, the "hangon" tag belongs on the page you want to save, not the talk page or (as you've done here) your own talk page. I apologize if the instructions above were confusing.
That all aside, I still don't think it met the standards of notability for an encyclopedia article. None of the reasons you advanced, e.g., the dean doesn't dislike it, establish notability beyond your campus. If you want to recreate the article, I urge you to include some reason why some-one that isn't connected to your institution would care about the newsletter that can be backed up with reliable sources. Before simply re-creating it, however, it would be a good idea to read the page about deletion review. Good luck, and welcome to Wikipedia. Eggishorn 17:18, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
